Being able to buy a single unit for my Action 4 was awesome and I'm enjoying mine. I was never expecting studio quality sound for something that I wanted for moto vloging and in my case the sound is better than I was hoping for. Thanks for the update video.
Do you Connect it to the DJI osmo action 4? Cuz I’m thinking about buying one for the exact same reason. Wondering also about the sound quality if it’s great?
My second only visit to your channel, and I'm blown away. Could it be that you did this without a script? In that case, hats off! In case you did use a script, again hats off for your natural, spontaneous way of presenting.
I just want to say that I love your content and style. It’s very conversational, and I love that. It’s so genuine and real. Great analysis and I think you’re spot on.
I agree with you but I also see his point because the Mic 1 sounds way better than the 2 in my opinion. I just got the mic 2 in the last few days and I'm still trying to mess around with EQ'ing them to a point where I'm happy. The mic 2 is better in ever other way though.
I, too, only bought the DJI Mic 2 Transmitter specifically to use with my DJI Osmo Action 4. And it is sooo fine! Always good to hear your thoughts, thanks.
I also only purchased the single transmitter for the same reason. I only want to use it with my Osmo Action 4. I was feeling for a moment like I made a mistake and should have bought the whole set but this video made me feel better about the decision. thanks wayne.
So I’m an audio guy, I don’t know what to say guys - kinda mind blown with people’s take. The Rode Wireless Pro vs the Rode Wireless Go II was minimal in sound quality upgrade as well, same incremental improvements. If you like the features of any of these then there is nothing wrong with any of these Devices….just edit and ALL can sound exactly the same. To say this did not meet our expectations will always be a stretch. The truth is Expectations can never be matched, someone somewhere will always have something to gripe about with every product. All 3 of those mics will NEVER be on the same talent in a real time, so editing should be expected with any audio capture device.
Just did a test on mine that i just got. I lucked out and got ones that sound virtually identical, I can't hear the difference on studio monitoring headphones, so I'll thank my lucky stars. I had a problem before with the first gen of these microphones that ended up needing a new logic board. Hopefully no more nasty surprises come out of this.
So months after this, you posted a video about how much the sound of the Mic 2 improved after a firmware update. Doesn't that mean you still own a Mic 2?
I returned the Mic 2 as well. I tried 2 different sets and kept getting intermittent static and sound artifacting when using the DJI Lav. I didn't feel confident in using it. Maybe early production issues.
I returned mine too- for several reasons: 1) mic V1’s work great. 2) I expected to connect to cameras and/or receivers via Bluetooth more seamlessly than having to sync everytime. 3) form factor didn’t suit me. 4) I trust the perspective of experts like you.
I have the DJI Mic 1 and the sound quality is better than the MIC 2. I would love to have 32bit float, wireless connection, but I can't compromise with the sound quality. I'll just wait for the next generation and see if that's better.
They all sounded highly compromised to whatever mic you used to record the video. Is this considered acceptable for a lavalier? Would they sound better with a dedicated lav mic?
Great audio on your voice - a pleasure to listen to and thanks for the good points in this vid, I am looking at adding wireless to my setup and just don't think any of these cheaper devices cut it (yet)
I am rethinking my purchase again, just wished DJI offered a Reciever only in case those that want to get one down the road the only thing. I did not see available
I love the Rode Wireless Pro. The only thing that interests me about the DJI Mic 2 is whether it works with phones using Bluetooth. Can you please confirm it works with Android/iPhone without any issues?
I think it would be awesome if they created a program that allows you to use 32 bit float recording on the single transmitter. Just a program to turn it on.
I am not hearing the difference between transmitters on my set using internal miks but I am not concerned about that because I only use them with Sennheizer labs because I am not really fond of the audio from those internals over all along with having a brick seen on a person. I agree, I had more expectations
I’m new to the wireless mic game, solo motovlogger and motorcycle content. Perfect for my needs. Also I’m a musician, those two kit mics of yours, I heard the difference on my iPhone speakers. I’d be concerned too. The solo kit for me is perfecto though
Thanks for this follow up video. I think you did a fantastic job explaining the nuances of the DJI Mic 2 dynamics. Did you notice any difference in sound quality with the built-in mic and the firmware released on 1/31/2024?
i have a "what if" question here. 😂 what if you didnt buy the 2-transmitter, 1-receiver set and just got one transmitter and you didnt get the chance to compare 2 transmitters, would you still have returned your unit because of audio quality? or would you have been satisfied with it? btw, i also purchased one transmitter only. i was hesitant at first because of the reviews out there. they highly praised the sound quality but i didnt like what i was hearing when i watched their "all praises" reviews. i got one because i needed its bluetooth feature. when i connected it to my insta360 x3, i thought it sounded great. exceeded my low expectations. 😊 i really think the rode and lark mics sound better but the lack of bluetooth connectivity and lark not having 32 bit float prevented me from getting those. 😢
I noticed my copy has significantly lower gain than the DJI Mic 1 when connected with USB-C to my computer. I'm very curious if it's just my copy or if it's common with all of them. I basically have to turn the gain up on the transmitters to +12db to get it to the same level as the DJI mic 1. Increasing the gain the receiver does nothing on USB-C. Seems to only affect it when it's connected with TRRS.
I really don't think the dongle to connect your mobile phone and lightning connector is better. Mine didn't fit in my case and my case was not big at all. I had zero issues with the other DJI Mike USB. 😊 Although I did break the cold shoe once on the DJI Mic 1. That being said I was let down by a lot of the physical updates I did not like the case being bigger having the locking mechanism with no spring open. I am warming up to the product and I do believe my video was off.
Very good video, so I'm looking for what can't be done for now (I don't know if they will make it possible with a software update). It is being able to be connected via Bluetooth to the mobile phone, Go Pro or Insta360 and record internally at the same time, if they fix that they have 1 guaranteed buyer.
When you bought the mics on launch day, how is it possible to return them? I would think all options to return them are over. It's been several weeks now. Not even Amazon has such a long return option. So how do you do that?
If you make a video showing a clear defect and it gets a lot of views, its in their best interest to give the guy making that video a happy resolution.
The video is too long for you to repeat mic 2 is fine... I guess u said they are fine 10 times... We know they are fine and gr8... U r returning... We understood... But what u did not understood was ur mic 2 ans third mic 2 were all same... The voice was different for all three becuase two were on 2.4ghz on green and the third one was on blue... U know bluetooth... So bluetooth is brighter than other two... Mics are perfect u did not understand its tech difference. Bluetooth does not have the clarity that mic2 can give you... Hope u got what u missed...
The sound quality of the microphone is really low, although it can be fixed in post-production. The only use I would give it would be to record my cat's birthday. I understand that it's not remotely ideal for semi-professional use, but selling a mediocre product, and worse, one that sounds so bad, is a shame. I'd rather use a Tascam DR10 L Pro and an Atom timecode like the Ultrasync Blue and synchronize the video with the audio for a perfect setup.
I generally try to hold off on newly released gear until I get real reviews based on non paid reviewers who have use the product on actual jobs. The issue is reviewers are often obligated to withhold negative opinions because they will not receive pre release equipment to review anymore. So you get unnaturally high expectations from their glowing reviews. Many issues with these consumer level device aren't immediately obvious. In your case the mics that aren't matched. Is this an unreal expectation at this price level? Things that are good enough can turn bad on a paid gig. I was watching a video where someone went to record an interview and when he slid the dji mic into the hotshoe the plastic shoe on the receiver broke off. I tend to agree with you one of the best features is the convenience factor and integration with dji action and pocket cam. Just like the smart phone is better for some content because the best camera is the one you have available.
Much better presentation this time around (faster, to the point, etc). I appreciate your sharing an honest experience. People get so goofy about stuff they buy and the "tribe" aspect of spending money at a corporation. You can make your own decisions which is a bold move in 2024.

You can’t
