Teaching is horrific. Endless stress, anxiety and anticipating every little thing that can go wrong from lesson planning, technology, behaviour, being asked to cover, blah blah blah. Almost every teacher I asked said they wouldn't recommend it and actively discouraged their own kids from doing it.

@@genericuser-1 You're heading to work, you have a free lesson in your timetable, you are looking forward to planning a few lessons or marking so you can actually have an evening off for once. You get a text while you're in the traffic jam. "Hi I need you to look after John's class 2nd lesson." You have no idea who these kids are, what they learned last lesson, and what you're going to be asked to teach them. And half of the time it's in a subject you don't even teach. Honestly the whole system is just ridiculous. It's painfully obvious that the powers that be just don't care about kids.

@@genericuser-1Thankfully I only ever worked as support staff (so not a 'real' teacher, although I was still planning/teaching/covering entire groups of 30+ kids). Very glad I tried it, and sad to leave it behind because I had some really great relationships with the kids, but there's just too much stress/nonsense for me to endure lol

Amen. God bless. I just put in my resignation letter midyear. A very toxic environment. And yes, I wanted to be a blessing to my students and staff there, but I was spending all my energy praying for God's protection against the toxic adults. So with my pastors blessings, I quit.
I did 3 years and quit at the end of the school year this past year. I just needed to put me first. Best wishes to you!

You get to meet others, what do you mean by that? Because she stated she was starting a new career path, which means teaching is out. So why would she meet other teacher's?

have absolutely NO Businessin this field.
They are Shady and DisHonest.
They are usually The MAIN reason GOOD Teachers leave. They stick together and are more toxic than you want to know.
ALWAYS leave environments that compromise Your Mental Health.

I had a surprise observation by a team of people and I needed to use the bathroom very badly and was afraid to go because I would get a bad mark on this observation for going. That’s not ok.

Don't feel bad, you are right! When the Cons start to outweigh the Pros, you should leave. I taught on and off at the elementary level for 23 years. The on and off was due to the stress of silly administrators, jealousy from coworkers, bad kids, crazy parents, and dealing with White racism micro & macro-agressions.
I'd take breaks and come back. I left permanently in 2018, and I don't regret it!
So, I retired this year after 34 years. I had enough. So my immediate supervisor called me. To sum up, he told me, "Well, do what ya gotta do." That's why i retired. Attitude. Admin doesn't care.
