This gave me so much more courage. I recently travelled from abroad and now living in the UK, and because of the college system, i was stuck in entry level english and maths for 3-4months and was just moved up to Higher maths and 9-1 English Language in December. Though im doing alright in english language, i have high ambitions for higher maths which i’m not even close to achieving and i already regret 2/3 months i had before to study in which i didn’t know. Now i have 1 month and almost 3years of content to learn and understand and be able to apply… it sucks and i can already feel the burn out (esp having worked so hard abroad learning a new language for top grades, only to move to england and be told they weren’t even GCSE equivalent) but i’m determined and willing to sacrifice anything that stops me. Thank you so much for this ! An absolute star xx
I used to barely revise for any tests, scraping okay grades in my exam, wanting medicine as my future without putting any work in. For the last week, I just realised that I have to lock in for these exams and I have to revise with a clear plan ahead. I really appreciate the video for emphasising on factors that we should go over, thx for the tips.
i can get 7+ in pretty much all subjects without revision, purely coz i learnt that i was terrible at revision, never knew how to revise and could never concentrate enough. now i'm prepared to lock in to get the 9's i know i'm capable of, i just need a little push. gonna use this advice for pretty much all future revision, thanks leia.

it's bc the past few years were affected by covid a lot more than we were so to make it fair the grade boundaries for us would be higher 😭 (im assuming)
@@1ecstasyy thats accurate my teachers told me the same thing. it is bec the evidence most people did during covid made most students get inaccurately high marks with low effort. so theyre balancing the boundaries again. this sucks but oh well.
You’re actually a life-saver By the way how did you organize your revision? Could you make like a video on how you organized your revision like what subjects you did on what day etc?
If you do Pearson Edexcel history (like me), learning how to structure your answer for each question type is really important! It helps a lot because even if you mind blank and can't remember specific facts, try to follow the formula and you should get at least some marks. I have structures for all question types for Medicine, Cold War, Richard and John, and Russia - if anyone is struggling with structuring their answers for any of these topics, I can let you know what formulas I use! Good luck everyone - but I'm sure you don't need luck, because you're strong and you can work hard right now to get the grades you deserve! Plus, you're worth so much more than your grades :) don't stress too much xx
@@bubbxles1843 sure! For Russia: Q1 this basically structures the answer for you, all you have to do is fill in the lines! Q2 - 12 marker "explain why" question. they will give u 2 bullet points in the question which u can use. so do 3 paragraphs - one about the 1st bullet point, one about the 2nd, then one using your own knowledge. (there's nothing saying you MUST use the bullet points, but they're there to help, so I'd use them if I were you) each paragraph should IDENTIFY a reason, then DEVELOP with your knowledge, then LINK back to the focus of the question. "one reason for this was..." then insert some facts, then "this led to / caused / meant that" (link it clearly back to the Q) IDENTIFY, DEVELOP, LINK! don't overthink this question, just 3 short/medium paragraphs, each one explaining a reason Q3 will ask you to look at two sources and state "how useful" they are. for this question I use JCOP: J- Judgement. "source A is useful for the enquiry because it shows/suggests/implies..." C- Content. directly quote the source - "the source says that..." make sure you quote something that is relevant to the point ur trying to make O- Own knowledge. after quoting the source, say "this is accurate as I know that..." and insert some relevant facts that you know P- Provenance. this is about how reliable or trustworthy the source is. "the provenance of the source makes it useful because..." for example if it was written by an eyewitness, that makes it more reliable so in summary for Q3=two JCOP paragraphs, one for each source Q3b is nice and easy. just state the main difference between the two interpretations - it will probably be made quite obvious for you. try to quote each interpretation briefly Q3c - this says "suggest one reason the interpretations may differ" - for this one you ALWAYS want to say that they differ because they have used DIFFERENT SOURCES OF INFORMATION. this answer works for every possibility. each interpretation will correspond to one of the sources, either A or B. "the interpretations may differ because they have used different sources. interpretation 1 focuses on ... so may have relied on sources like source A, which says... however, interpretation 2, with its focus on ... may have used sources like source B" I hope that made sense Q3d is the 16 marker. DON'T OVERTHINK IT, just because its a longer question u don't need to panic! you can use your "main difference", that you wrote about in Q3b, as the basis of ur 1st paragraph each paragraph should look something like this: Argument, Knowledge, Other argument, Judgement step 1: think about what ARGUMENT is being made in the interpretation (always start with the interp they're actually asking u about!!) your first sentence could start something like "interpretation 1 argues that...", I would also include a quote here step 2: back this up with your KNOWLEDGE. one, maybe two sentences of your knowledge that agree with the argument made in the interpretation step 3: what does the OTHER interpretation argue? "however / on the other hand, interpretation 1/2 argues that..." this is literally just one sentence stating what the other interp says! step 4: make a JUDGEMENT. "therefore, we may agree more/less strongly with interpretation 1/2, because.." this seems like a lot when i type it all out but honestly it's not so bad. INTERP IN QUESTION, KNOWLEDGE, OTHER INTERP, JUDGEMENT. do 3 of these paragraphs - with a very short intro and / or conclusion if you have time - and you'll do fine. when you're planning your points, look at both interpretations and highlight the key points they're making. try to find 3 and these can then form your 3 paragraphs I hope this made sense, I can clarify if anything isn't very clear! and if u want me to write any example answers then I can
@@bubbxles1843 For cold war: Q1 is "explain two consequences" this is nice and simple, just two short paragraphs start each one with a clear sentence about what the consequence is. then explain how the event in the question led to this consequence. for example, I recently did a question "explain two consequences of the Cuban revolution". for my first paragraph I wrote that one consequence was that relations between Cuba and the USA worsened. i talked about how the USA had close ties with Cuba and many Americans owned land and businesses there, but when Castro took over, he nationalised business and industry, which took companies from Americans. this damaged the partnership between the USA and Cuba also my top tip is that you can talk about increasing or decreasing tensions for pretty much every cold war Q1. consequence of Cuban revolution? increased tension. consequence of Berlin Wall being built? increased tension. consequence of Gorbachev's new thinking - decreased tension. Q2 - honestly the idea of a narrative account is kind of a weird one, but its not too simple. make sure you've learnt the sequences of events for major crises. for the narrative account you'll want to structure your answer as a beginning, middle and end. paragraph 1: how did the event start? paragraph 2: what was the turning point / middle / major crisis of the event? paragraph 3: what brought the event to an end? the key thing for this question is to LINK YOUR PARAGRAPHS TOGETHER - by this i just mean phrases like "as a result" "this led to" "consequently" etc - it's important to show how one thing led to another Q3 is nice because you get a choice. pick the 2 questions that you know the most about. this question is ALWAYS the importance of something on SUPERPOWER RELATIONS. they might rephrase it as "relations between the USA and USSR" or "the development of the cold war" but its always the same idea of relations between america and the ussr. for each 8 marker here, make 2 or 3 points about how the event impacted relations by the way for cold war I'd recommend really focusing your revision on consequences of events/crises, sequences of how one thing led to another, and how everything impacted relations. since these are the basis of the exam questions they're probably the best things to focus on in terms of revision again, i hope i made sense and sorry my replies are so long!!! and again I can explain anything if needed or send model answers
Thank you sm🙏I’ve been needing to revise for the cold war topic in history for a while but havent gotten around it, also if its not too much of a bother, could you write up an exam answer for medicine?
What motivated me was knowing that if i have to try again , Ill have to pay for it , and its a lot whether i manage to work and paay for it myself or my mum ends up having to pay for my education , it's a loss of a big enough amount of money and also the fact that the minimum respect my family and people ik have will fall rapidly and I'll be a laughing stock fs given many people predicted I'll fail if I went like how I did , now idk what's gonna happen but a big part of me believes that I'll end up proving them right and be a huge joke but a small part of me hopes i end up getting grades good enough to not have to repeat gcse and die , i personally wouldn't mind doing it again if it meant becoming a pro and learning things properly but i care too much more about people's eyes and opinions to respect my love for learning instead of grades.

Hi there, these are some things that could come up. “Macbeth”: Explore themes like ambition, power, guilt, and the supernatural. Consider character analysis for Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, and the witches. Discuss the impact of fate and free will in the play. “An Inspector Calls”: Focus on themes related to social class, responsibility, and morality. Analyse characters like Sheila, Eric, and Mr. Birling. Consider the role of the Inspector and his impact on the family. HOWEVER, I WOULD NOT recommend this as a checklist, this is for EDEXCEL as well.
Thank you soooo much!!!! You’re a life saver, I wasn’t motivated to start studying and now I have 4 weeks left and I’m stressing so much. Your vid has motivated me to start studying. I’m so glad I came across this video.

Hey Leia :) Thank you for the video! I was wondering when you get the chance, can you do a video on performance strategies? How do you keep a clear mind and have a masterful performance?
omd this made me have hope T-T i had medical problems this year i missed like half the year and I've never really had time to focus on school before because most of my time was spent on extracurricular activities i had to juggle tennis, volleyball violin, piano and my baking business at the same time let alone writing my next book to publish so even though i thought i could focus fully this year i guess fate had its own plans so now i have to cram again
I feel like this strategy works until you enter a subject which is not knowledge based but more skill based. At A level a lot of the subjects begin to develop skills as well as knowledge, for instance a subject like further maths will have a question on every topic and many questions will require problem solving skills as well as knowledge. Most importantly, don't just learn facts, in the long run it will lead to failure, as concepts should be understood rather than learnt otherwise the courses you took were pointless regardless of the grade; it doesn't matter whether you know and can describe young double slit experiment for instance if you can't understand why it happens.
This came at the perfect time for me, I'm in year 10 and have wasted the entire year not focusing on school and this has motivated me to start, thank you.
i haven't started revising most subjects yet but this has given me the kick to start doing work outside of school. My current predicted grades are: english lit: 7 english lang: 7 maths: 9 biology: 8 physics: 7 chemistry: 6 french: 8 history: 9 music: 8 i am going to try and remember to update this when i get my results so fingers crossed everything goes well and how i want it to go ! and good luck to everybody!!
My motivation is going to be going to a Hozier concert in july and bingeing bridgerton season 3. also meeting a bunch of my long distance mates (we're all from london so it's chill, might hang out at camden or portobello

Can you please tell me the structure for the questions of russia and cold War if you don't mind :))
tyy
@@bubbxles1843 sure!
For Russia:
Q1 this basically structures the answer for you, all you have to do is fill in the lines!
Q2 - 12 marker "explain why" question. they will give u 2 bullet points in the question which u can use.
so do 3 paragraphs - one about the 1st bullet point, one about the 2nd, then one using your own knowledge. (there's nothing saying you MUST use the bullet points, but they're there to help, so I'd use them if I were you)
each paragraph should IDENTIFY a reason, then DEVELOP with your knowledge, then LINK back to the focus of the question. "one reason for this was..." then insert some facts, then "this led to / caused / meant that" (link it clearly back to the Q)
IDENTIFY, DEVELOP, LINK! don't overthink this question, just 3 short/medium paragraphs, each one explaining a reason
Q3 will ask you to look at two sources and state "how useful" they are. for this question I use JCOP:
J- Judgement. "source A is useful for the enquiry because it shows/suggests/implies..."
C- Content. directly quote the source - "the source says that..." make sure you quote something that is relevant to the point ur trying to make
O- Own knowledge. after quoting the source, say "this is accurate as I know that..." and insert some relevant facts that you know
P- Provenance. this is about how reliable or trustworthy the source is. "the provenance of the source makes it useful because..." for example if it was written by an eyewitness, that makes it more reliable
so in summary for Q3=two JCOP paragraphs, one for each source
Q3b is nice and easy. just state the main difference between the two interpretations - it will probably be made quite obvious for you. try to quote each interpretation briefly
Q3c - this says "suggest one reason the interpretations may differ" - for this one you ALWAYS want to say that they differ because they have used DIFFERENT SOURCES OF INFORMATION. this answer works for every possibility. each interpretation will correspond to one of the sources, either A or B. "the interpretations may differ because they have used different sources. interpretation 1 focuses on ... so may have relied on sources like source A, which says... however, interpretation 2, with its focus on ... may have used sources like source B"
I hope that made sense
Q3d is the 16 marker. DON'T OVERTHINK IT, just because its a longer question u don't need to panic! you can use your "main difference", that you wrote about in Q3b, as the basis of ur 1st paragraph
each paragraph should look something like this: Argument, Knowledge, Other argument, Judgement
step 1: think about what ARGUMENT is being made in the interpretation (always start with the interp they're actually asking u about!!) your first sentence could start something like "interpretation 1 argues that...", I would also include a quote here
step 2: back this up with your KNOWLEDGE. one, maybe two sentences of your knowledge that agree with the argument made in the interpretation
step 3: what does the OTHER interpretation argue? "however / on the other hand, interpretation 1/2 argues that..." this is literally just one sentence stating what the other interp says!
step 4: make a JUDGEMENT. "therefore, we may agree more/less strongly with interpretation 1/2, because.."
this seems like a lot when i type it all out but honestly it's not so bad. INTERP IN QUESTION, KNOWLEDGE, OTHER INTERP, JUDGEMENT. do 3 of these paragraphs - with a very short intro and / or conclusion if you have time - and you'll do fine.
when you're planning your points, look at both interpretations and highlight the key points they're making. try to find 3 and these can then form your 3 paragraphs
I hope this made sense, I can clarify if anything isn't very clear! and if u want me to write any example answers then I can
@@bubbxles1843
For cold war:
Q1 is "explain two consequences"
this is nice and simple, just two short paragraphs
start each one with a clear sentence about what the consequence is. then explain how the event in the question led to this consequence.
for example, I recently did a question "explain two consequences of the Cuban revolution". for my first paragraph I wrote that one consequence was that relations between Cuba and the USA worsened. i talked about how the USA had close ties with Cuba and many Americans owned land and businesses there, but when Castro took over, he nationalised business and industry, which took companies from Americans. this damaged the partnership between the USA and Cuba
also my top tip is that you can talk about increasing or decreasing tensions for pretty much every cold war Q1. consequence of Cuban revolution? increased tension. consequence of Berlin Wall being built? increased tension. consequence of Gorbachev's new thinking - decreased tension.
Q2 - honestly the idea of a narrative account is kind of a weird one, but its not too simple. make sure you've learnt the sequences of events for major crises. for the narrative account you'll want to structure your answer as a beginning, middle and end.
paragraph 1: how did the event start?
paragraph 2: what was the turning point / middle / major crisis of the event?
paragraph 3: what brought the event to an end?
the key thing for this question is to LINK YOUR PARAGRAPHS TOGETHER - by this i just mean phrases like "as a result" "this led to" "consequently" etc - it's important to show how one thing led to another
Q3 is nice because you get a choice. pick the 2 questions that you know the most about. this question is ALWAYS the importance of something on SUPERPOWER RELATIONS. they might rephrase it as "relations between the USA and USSR" or "the development of the cold war" but its always the same idea of relations between america and the ussr.
for each 8 marker here, make 2 or 3 points about how the event impacted relations
by the way for cold war I'd recommend really focusing your revision on consequences of events/crises, sequences of how one thing led to another, and how everything impacted relations. since these are the basis of the exam questions they're probably the best things to focus on in terms of revision
again, i hope i made sense and sorry my replies are so long!!! and again I can explain anything if needed or send model answers
omd tysmmmm ilyy
Way better than how my teacher explained itt
Tyyyy

“Macbeth”:
Explore themes like ambition, power, guilt, and the supernatural.
Consider character analysis for Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, and the witches.
Discuss the impact of fate and free will in the play.
“An Inspector Calls”:
Focus on themes related to social class, responsibility, and morality.
Analyse characters like Sheila, Eric, and Mr. Birling.
Consider the role of the Inspector and his impact on the family.
HOWEVER, I WOULD NOT recommend this as a checklist, this is for EDEXCEL as well.
