Now that is a drum set. Right out of the 80s. Love it.
they must habe cost a fortune back in the day.... the countless hours I spent leafing through tama brochures when I was a kid . I was always admiring this set...
Me too. I wore out the catalogs back then!
It was better than porn magazines
Shit man drums were cheaper back then. I had a set of high end Pearls I paid just under three grand for the shells alone. Something comparable today would cost about $15,000 today at least.
Hey same here, I got my first kit, a Tama Rockstar at age 8 in the late 80's, and I used to look at the catalogue constantly! I play a Starclassic Birch/bubinga 7 piece now at age 43!
Man I have that same feeling. I still have my Tama catalog tucked away somewhere in my files. I remember looking at the Birdseye Maple kits and just feeling like they were never gonna be obtainable. Just like Cameros VS. Coevettes. I lusted after the Cameros and Rockstar kits more than I did the Birdseyes and Corvettes LOL Anyone remember the Jethrow Tull drummer's photo/profile of the Birdseye kit? Because I do! haha
Yep. TAMA and PAISTE 😏..It cannot get ANY better... ESPECIALLY, THAT ARTSTAR bad boy! Lombardo would be proud 😎🤘🔥🤘
Thank you!
Makes me want to set my set up in the front yard, I'm sure the neighbors would love that. :D
You go my man ..You know what a drum set should look like.... And you are playing my brand .TAMA.. I am a professional musician and have quite a vintage Tama collection . Never stop learning .. Awesome set. It begins and ends with Tama.
I know that things even bigger than Dave Lombardo😊
the prefect kit to make a white stripes cover
😂😂😂
If Mcbrain had a big drum kit in the 1970s, this would be it. Love it.
This is a late 80’s kit.
You have no idea how much i envy your kit!!
It is litterally my dream setup! from cymbals to drum kit, to the way the whole thing's setup 🤘🏽
Totally agree!
Perfect drums...perfect cymbals....wow
Thank you!
I know someone in Detroit who has a kit like this and he also had a 6” Tom made as well! Stunning set of drums! He has the 6.5 and 8 x 14 matching snares as well! This kit sounds really good! Great kit!
Most excellent, sound, finish and playing!
what a set of awesome drums
Beautiful looking and sounding set!
Sweet kit Sean, keep smashing it!!👍😀
That's awesome! Big drums, big shows!
Thanks so much!
Fabulous sounding kit
Beautiful kit and it sounds great!
Very groovy! Great kit, great playing.
The effort alone in setting all that stuff outside what to mention of putting it back.
Nice kit man.
hello sean....magnific drum kit
here comes the rain my friend..... Great drum kit....vintage..
Wow, beautiful, never thought I would like yellow as much as I love this
Nice to see 11" and 15" toms! Great playing. The Artstars have those nice, thick shells that really cut.
Beautiful classic kit right there.
This was my exact "dream kit" when I was in high school, except with more toms. With the 2002s even.
A beautiful kit
Sweet kit!
Awesome set!
Awesome kit!
Amazing kit
THAT............... is the nicest looking drumkit..........EVER ! goood playing too. !
It sounds amazing ❤❤
That's pretty much my dream setup
Now.... That's A reallllly big drum kit. Oh, God... Keep it clean and tidy.
Fantastic kit! Lord
My dream set
very huge drum kit
That is my dream kit right there!!!!!!!
Me too
"which on of the paiste 2002 series do you want to buy?"
"yes."
thumping beats matey. awesome. the toms are so punchy
Sweet
Wonderful! Is it me or is there the influence of Nicko Mcbrain?
Absolutely! And some others as well.
In the last part Dave lombardo
@@matteocandiloro8028 I was talking about more of the drums setup, It's very similar.
@@lovecraftmusic8717 absolutly
@@lovecraftmusic8717 maybe Neil peart too
Love that kit! I have a red Artstar II with long lugs, curious how you got sharks tooth (Granstar) lugs on yours.
Crank the heads on the smaller toms!!!
The kind of drums I dreamed for several years......
This is very unique. I always thought (apart from say the odd custom order kit) that the Artstar II's had high-tension lug boxes and the Granstars and Granstar Customs were single lugs like yours here. But I see it says Limited Edition. It's very very nice none the less.
You're correct. This did have the long lugs. They were switched out for these "Shark Tooth" ones.
@@seanwalton4687 Lars Ulrich did the same on his Black Album kit tour. It was an Artstar II kit but he wasnted the Granstar lugs on instead.
@@seanwalton4687 Also, those Paiste 2002 sound crisp!! Especially that ride!
That kit is the love child of Neil peart and nicko mcbrain
Ngl that sounded better than I thought it was. The wind at the beginning was bad haha. But amazing kit man!
Awesome, only left a 9x9 tom
Nice shirt.
*DAMN* now that’s a drum kit! How did u achieve a kit of that size?
DW has been playing catch up for a long time . The lugs they use are the Camco lugs by Tama you tell me. ..
It might be one of the best kits I’ve ever seen. Is the hi hat super low. I can’t get the toms around the hat where it’s fluid. Everything on this set is tucked fantastic. Like a puzzle. Less distance. Unfortunately I’m short and play fat back. Great video. The tom combinations would be so fun on this set! Heavy metal.
Far back.
You ARE luckyyyy
How does the 16" rack tom (?) hold up with the hardware and weight of the drum? I am building an ERIC CARR Kit this year and wondering about this issue.
That was great! Great sound despite being outside? How come the lugs on these drums look much more like the Granstar or Crestar lugs? I thought that the Artstar II had 'hi tension' style lugs.
cal mac, all those long high tension lugs were swapped out for these lugs. Most of the drums already had these lugs by the time they got to me. Honestly after I got to looking at these with these lugs, I think I prefer them. Having less hardware on the shell really brings out the birdseye veneer, which is gorgeous.
@@seanwalton4687 Ah, I see! Thank you for the reply. Yes, agreed, they show off that finish to great effect. I am a big fan of this era of lugs, but really love the short ones in particular. Great playing btw and hope you continue to enjoy the kit. Best wishes.
@@calmac9720 Thanks!
Artstar II was offered in the Japanese market with Granstar lugs.
@@Johnyevil Ah ha! That's really interesting, thank you for the information!
Lol! Love the kit!
TAMAAAAA
I think those are Grand Stars... I thought the art Stars had the full lug? Either way those are awesome and sound fantastic.
He said he changed some of the lugs himself while some of the drums already had the Shark tooth lugs.
what is the price of all set drums? for PERU
Man, that thing is a beaut! Gotta get me some, but I think there's less than 100 in my country, and practically nobody's selling one of these (and for a good reason, I might add)
If you find them, they are worth the wait. Good luck and best wishes my friend
Sean Walton thanks a bunch, mate! Hopefully I will, even though I’m prepared for a hefty $200K (approximately 1900 GBP)
My question is, where did you get these? Like, how did you buy all the drums you needed?
That is a very fine Tama Grandstar!
Did you buy this kit from Blake in Encinitas? I recall he sold a kit like this, an ArtstarII with Granstar Custom lugs.
That's a stadium kit !!
I've always wanted a drum set like this to bad I can't get one cause of the room.
Like Nicko you have the 13" Heavy Bell???!!!!
Yes sir!
😁
Very similar to niko mcbrains monster drum set 🤘🤟
Nicko McBrain inspired no doubt. Nice sounding kit
It's a Granstar
Is it for sale 🧐🧐🇨🇦
For sale?
Didn't know they offered Artstar II's with split shark tooth Granstar lugs....I know Lars Ulrich had his White Artstar II black album kit specifically custom made with granstar lugs and had all the follow up limited run signature retail copy kits made the same. I have not seen any other Artstar II's with the Granstar lugs, unless someone purchased spare Granstar lugs and put them on the artstar II's themselves for a custom job.
He changed them out himself. But apparently many of the drums already had the short lugs.
I think you need some more cymbals
holy overkill
beautiful kit, but just too much for me
only way i would have that is if i had a drum tech. as long as i have to set up my own shit, 7 pieces is my limit
Make Drumsets Huge Again
Might want to consider tuning the high toms a little higher so it leaves u with more seperation
They're getting all new heads soon, so I'll do that. Thanks for watching!
If Nicko Mcbrain went full on Thrash Metal...
Nice, but I would not want to move it to a gig!
In South America this kit will cost 14.000 dollars. That means have to work 1 to 2 years to have this money. And you have to eat and live. So you have to work 4 years to buy this kit. I have a Sonor cheap series made in China. 20, 24, 08, 08, 10, 12, 13, 14, 16, 18, 10 and 13 snare drums. It is cost 1.800 dollars. It is hard to buy drums in dollars here in Uruguay, Argentina, South America. Congratulation man I love your drumset and video. Best wishes and enjoy this awesome kit. Best regards Tito Faraut Garcia from Uruguay. My channel is "ostinato drumming" here and "bateroz".
Nicko Mcbrain???????
I want to know why Tama and other companies don't go back to their glamorous sized kits anymore..
Maybe they will someday?
Reminds me of nicki mcbrain but if he had a double bass
Custom? Because tama artstar never came square past the 10in
Nnnnnnniiiiiiiicccccccceeeeeee
Your life ain't complete if you don't have a gong. 😂 I've got to get a gong.😢
Oh yeah!
We’re looking for a donation kit for a church drummer, we are a small church, if ya know someone hit me up
Single stroke god...lol
Your eyes are getting heavy.. sell me your drums :)

Not enough toms
I hate kits with more than 2 rack toms and more than 2 floor toms
So you just HAD to watch and HAD to comment. Makes a lot of sense.
Why does it matter what configuration someone else is playing?
Life would be very difficult for anyone insisting others adhere to their whims.
IS NOT GRANSTAR ?
Beautiful kit, just doesn’t do much for you playing or creativity. All I heard was drum roll after drum roll, very boring n predictable. Many more ways to voice that beast. Beautiful kit none the less. Right on.
Nothing about this video did I not like.
I'd be interested in knowing how to set up square sized toms and be able to play them comfortably.
Too many drums for my taste.
Not enough resonance. Those pinstripe heads kill the sound.
That’s just how pinstripes sound on power toms. With shells that thick there isn’t much resonance. Basically all projection.
I could tell by the angle of the toms and cymbals that this guy wasn’t gonna be good.
Killer
