- We brought El Estepario Siberiano to the lively streets of Vancouver for an exciting Drum Set Independence Challenge. Participants faced four stages, starting with the hi-hat for $5, adding the snare for $10, introducing the bass drum for $20, and finally attempting a groove for a chance to win a brand-new Alesis Nitro Max E-Kit | Drumeo Edition.

We all know that this guy has made a name for himself with his insane speed and independence, but this is what I prefer to see from him. I think it's a great way for him to branch out even further and gain even more followers than the millions that he already has.
There’s something really lovely about watching very skilled drum players like this showing new and returning players patience and encouragement, just spreading love for playing.

In my opinion (I hesitate to call myself a drummer in this company but...) teaching someone to play a 4/4 pattern is one of the best things ever. The look on their faces and their sense of accomplishment is epic. Once you've managed that, you're a drummer. There's no going back. Your life is changed and your head will tick like a metronome ever more.

There is no "greatest living drummer". He technical as the come, but seriously over uses double base and an oversized dead snare. He's mindblowing for sure.........Stewart Copeland is still alive, Chad Smith is still alive, Dennis Chambers, Carter Beauford, Mike Mangini, Portnoy, fuck, I could go all day.
@@robbadams982 The bigger note is he doesn't even say he is the greatest drummer. When people kept asking if he was going to be taking over in Slipknot, he said he was not good enough and there were better options for them out there.
@@rekzors For sure. His videos he has of practice and dedication are silly. Dude is legit as they come. All the greats are built with humble. Chris Stapleton, Pink, Tyler Childers, Brad Paisley, Coast Contra, John Mayer and many more. These people know they are normal people.

That warmth, patience, encouragement & positive energy also shows us that he has a natural GIFT for TEACHING. He needs to do a LOT more of this whenever he can. The infectiousness of this man's approach could very well help to save real live music; his contribution would be to repopulate the world with folks who love to play DRUMS!😃🥁
I almost put the Drumeo starter package that comes with that kit on my emergency credit card after seeing that part. I had to come back to reality and stop myself because I need to fix my car first LOL. I purchased my first set of drumsticks (Vic Firth brand) and I have a free lesson next week at Guitar Center. I’m working on getting an electronic kit and as soon as I can afford it, I’m buying some of these Drumeo lessons (particularly “The Fastest Way To Get Faster” by El Stepario Siberiano)! I cannot stop watching his channel!

@@jaygilbert4546 wow! What an encouraging comment! Thank you so much! That’s exactly what I want out of becoming a drummer. My mental health has been in the toilet as much as my physical health. I’m only 38 but I’ve got a some incurable BS that’s supposed to take my legs then eventually my whole body someday and blah blah blah. I want to feel alive while I can and nothing makes me feel more alive than when I listen to TOOL, Puscifer, APC, Sleep Token, etc. And the parts I’m always air playing to are the drums. I suck something awful still but I can feel the beats in my soul. I’m currently practicing my finger techniques thanks to some really great instructional videos on UA-cam. Basically I’m strengthening my muscles all the way down to my fingers and playing on buckets until I can get a real kit. I feel the urge to fiddle with my sticks all the time. Like it feels like an ever growing need in me and I hope I can learn to play my favorite songs before I lose my body and mind completely. It’s been my best medication to date. Thanks so much for sharing that amazing, welcoming warmth that I immediately can sense from every drummer I see on this channel 🙏🏻 I wish you health and happiness.

I love how it shows with the last woman that he didn't really care if they could play the groove. He just wanted to drum (intended) up interest in something he is passionate about. I love music (26 genres, 329 artists, 893 songs in 2023 according to UA-cam lol) but I never could play a lick. Would have loved to have been given a free lesson by one of the best!

@@chezchezchezchez Yes I have, I've been subscribed to her and many other child prodigies I've found on UA-cam over the years. Derek Sherinian (formerly of Dream Theater one of my favorite bands) has done songs with her. I stand by what I said though. I believe he's the fastest and most precise drummer to hit the scene in a long, long time. Does this mean there aren't other amazing drummers out there? No. It basically comes down to two questions. Can El Estepario play what they're playing? Now can they play what he does?

I said that he's the greatest thing to happen to drumming in the last several years. Meaning, a new guy. Not some legendary established drummers that we all know about. The youngest guys you listed are still older than Jorge by ten years! Let him keep going for another forty years like most of the dudes you mentioned and we'll see. Tl;dr Jorge is the best NEW guy and of course isn't a legend yet.

MATT GARTSKA, Zach Graybeal, Greyson Nekrutman, Eric Moore Tony Royster Jr., Nicolas Vaccaro, Annika Niles Gergo Borlai, Ruben Bellavia, etc., etc. I must admit though, this discussion is pointless. I have bought one! I never got back in this. Did not want to make embarrassing noises. Now, I can subject just myself to them! The last time I played was at eleven years old way back in 1971. El Estepario Siberiano, you’re an amazing person. I’ve played most my life and my stepdad has played all my life and most of his. You’re one of the greatest drummers, if not the greatest in our opinion. In your videos you have always been cool, funny, and kind. But this video truly shows the man you are on the inside. How gracious, encouraging, and patient you were with everyone and how genuinely excited and happy you were for everyone and to just be apart of showing them they could achieve something. Making them feel good about themselves. Too many people in the world don’t even take the time to be nice to strangers, much less treat people the way you do. You can tell that’s how you are with everyone you meet. You and the freestyle rapper on UA-cam, Harry Mack, are the same in that way and are great examples of how we should all treat other people we encounter and how that alone would change the world for the better. Keep shining my man, you deserve all the best that’s happening for you and the best that’s still to come.

I was so happy every time somebody won a kit. I love all that you do and love to listen to the life you put into your playing. Unfortunately, I have a friend who I think is a really good drummer and he is blind as well. I tell him about your stuff all the time and now he tells me that your just showing off. I'm sorry but I don't see that in you at all. Keep doing what your doing El Estepario, you are an inspiration and I think people want to not only learn to play drums after hearing you but a lot drummers want to try and practice more to improve their playing.
EES you have been gifted with such an outstanding talent, I am in awe whenever I watch your videos. I think your video production (props to your staff / team) is prime, your charisma in front of the camera is what really got me to keep to click and watch whenever one of your videos showed up. .watching you interact with everyday people out on the street and not just taking the time but how you instructed individuals while giving them a short lesson is what finally got me to hit the subscribe button! You come across as very genuine, approachable/accessible, and you came across being very easy to start and hold a conversation with. I think a vet or anyone with ptsd and suffers from really high levels of social anxiety would be able to walk up to you and be 1/2hour into having a conversation and laughing before they become consciously aware that none of their ptsd & anxiety symptoms were triggered.
I wish San Francisco CA was in better shape and could provide safer environment for you to even consider traveling and doing something like this here. I am rhythmically challenged, I am surprised that I was able to dj successfully in clubs & raves. I have never been able to play an instrument not even a gazzoo or those plastic flutes they give you in kindergarten and grade school for music class, but I would enjoy copping a squat in a park or hijacking’s some property on a barstool and gabbing about whatever and being that fly on a wall listening and learning from your conversation with others. That is when it’s appropriate and wouldn’t be considered rude.

My 11yo son started percussion in school this year and has been wanting a drum kit badly. I want to make sure he’ll stick with it before spending the $$.
He watched this video and got excited imagining he’d have been able to win the kit. He got very bugged when he couldn’t get the groove due to the timing of the high hat with the bass (independence).
He was very frustrated and bummed out. I was worried he’d give up and move on. Instead, he worked it for the next 40 minutes and finally got it. I got home from an errand earlier and he was trying again. I am super proud he persevered.
All of these Drumeo videos are awesome and impact more people than you all know. Thank you! I’m getting him a cheap kick pedal and a used drumeo practice kick pad locally so he can work independence drills along with his practice pad. If he sticks with it through May, we’ll find a way to make an e-kit happen. Wish we could win this kit!

Before i thought the final groove would be really complicated, but it was in the perfect middle between makeable and challenging for beginners. A really fair chance to win the drumkit, especially with the time and tips you gave the people! Nice to see, i am happy for everyone who met you and got a nice drumkit!
We need more of this out on the streets! Even if you don’t like or play drums, the feeling of sitting behind them, it’s quite amazing! Once you get the first hit, you will feel powerful.

I'm a guitarist who thought he was moderately decent at drums until I just tried to tap out that triplet Groove with my knees and foot and it took a LOT more focus than I expected to keep it going smoothly.
not to be pedantic but those are groups of three 16th notes, not triplets!
Either way it's a classic exercise for limb independence. Keep a familiar kick/snare pattern steady while playing around with different rhythms on the hi-hat. To up the difficulty I would shift the 16th notes around to get used to how the groups of 3 feel in different spots of the bar (not just "1--&-a-2, &-a-3, etc..." like in the vid). And there's literally endless ways you can make variations on this type of exercise.
For clearer understanding of people who generally know very little or nothing about rhythm or music theory, he meant the grouping of 3 hits because they are just that, it's not 16ths all the time and it's not the actual notation. that's for students and professionals to get.

Beautiful to see his kindness is as direct and raw as his drumming. So sweetly human. Even just to see him kneeling beside people to encourage them to go farther was great, while, of course, most always burning a blunt.

It's cool that he's become famous to the point to be able to go out onto the street and give people a chance to win a drum set. You can tell he really cares about getting people into playing the drums and just enjoys being out there. Been following him for a long time.
I've been eyeing electronic drums for a long while and this kind of encounter would be the end of that hesitation. Dream come true, and the joy on the last woman's face when she did something she'd been thinking about for ages was just priceless.

When I saw the words ‘drum independence challenge’ and ‘El Estepario’ in the same sentence I felt immediately intimidated by what I assumed would be playing multiple polyrhythms in odd time signatures simultaneously. This video was amazing and doesn’t make me feel like giving up, what a great guy!

Really cool bro. You might be creating a new generation of drummers. Good stuff. I ended up purchasing the Nitro Max kit and I love it. They've come a long way with these sets-it beats my old Roland TD-25 set, and that was thousands of dollars. Little side note: like Estepario says, it takes work. Lots of it. When I was a kid my parents made me take my drumset out to the middle of the desert. I had to break it down, and set it up just to play, and I did that every day for months, until I got good and my parents let me start playing in the house. It takes dedication.
El Estepario Siberiano, I haven't played the drums since the early 1980's, when my roommate was a drummer and you can reference the movie "Step Brothers" , although I was never caught in the act, yet accused of it, lol. I love music and can hear the notes, and I can play other instruments somewhat. Since the time on the drums, I Always remembered them. Thanks for the "Deal" I will be doing it again!

No he is not. He is talentless first of all. All his "success" is product of promotion and greed. Second: he is not true positive. He barely keeps calm and positive. He hates to be there. Because his playing is pointless. No drummer respects him. They all know. He only can buy their "good feedback". He can't even play in a band. That's why we're all soon be whitenessing his downfall full of shame as a fraud.
What a great video. Seeing another side of El Estepario was awesome. Love his interactions with everyone. You can see his passion for the drums when teaching everyone. Bravo!

El Estapario is such a fkn wholesome dude I can't even. Such a mind numbingly good yet down to earth guy....he is going to be HUGE...not just in the world of drumming but overall celebrity status, he's going to be in a different stratosphere in the next few years I feel
now, this was very good coop. I usually don't watch such videos where somebody promotes a product, but in this case it's execution was flawless. You hear the kit, you can see it and whole video doesn't push anything upon the viewer. This was marketing 101 and done in very human way. Siberiano totally sold it for me :)

THIS WAS SO COOOOOOL! Love the collab, the interactions with people, and the intention! El Estapario was such a wonderful teacher, and it truly seemed like he wanted everybody to get a kit! I loved that woman at the end that was so excited to actually get a kit she could learn with. This whole video was so beautiful.

I think some of the winners had not their first time behind ablotsen ;) the accents on the hihat, the relaxed wrists… i gave introductions into drumming to many persons without any experience, and all of them were more like the girl at the end, who had a really good progression during her lesson. Most others - i doubt they never played drums before, but it is awesome they got a kit, too!

Elstepario seems to be such a great teacher and a really nice guy. So patient and supportive. He has definitely not forgotten how he started.
This dude is amazing. I'm a drummer of almost 40 years and I have the same kit, but I added another tom and symbol and even converted to double bass. It's easy. Just buy another bass trigger and pedal and buy a 1/4 jack splitter and run them into the same input. As long as you are not a speed drummer, this works awesome!
The cool thing about this whole challenge was his personality has warmth his kindness and not to mention that he may have changed peoples lives. He may have got them interested in drums and you never know we could see those people one day on the Internet. Some day. Thank you for sharing this.

Absolutely loved this. The smiles on winners and the people who did well were beautiful, even when they didn't accept the money. It's proof that music can make people cross their limits and generate pure joy. Thanks to Estepario for being a great practical teacher for them.
Witnessing someone have a breakthrough and their reaction is so real and satisfying. I really respect Estepario for encouraging people to try playing an instrument even though they are completely out of their comfort zone.

We bought our 12 yr old grandson a kit like this for Christmas because of El Elstepario Sineriano’s videos,reels and shorts. He was so excited! Thanks for being an inspiration to young upcoming musicians!
And this is why we love Jorge (El Estepario) and Drumeo so much! Grinning from ear to ear the whole time. This collaborative effort to get sticks, and drums into the hands of people to start playing, continue playing, etc. a very nice compact e-kit, and in the shade of Drumeo Blue is just amazing. What you've done and continue to do is not only inspiring and motivating, but you both build memories for a lifetime... especially these folks on the street! When they get more into Drumeo and more into El Estepario, they are gonna look back at this moment and be so grateful and happy! Thank you both for all that you do!!!
