    Hey my lovelies,
This weekend was a fight lol the way but managed to get half of the strengthening done to the unibody!
Still feel good about this and really looking forward to telling you in detail my plans on why I'm making the unibody stronger and showing you the design plan for everything.
    Thanks for watching

Hey Holly one thing you might want to check. Coming from a guy that uses a welder and plasma cutter EVERY SINGLE DAY in a shop lol..one thing I've learned this time of year is, "FAN PLACEMENT ".. be sure to pay attention to where you set fans because if they are blowing anywhere near where your cutting or welding they can affect it tremendously!! If your welding it can blow your shielding gas away.. and if your cutting it can cause interference with your cut.. might not be your problem but it could be 😅

I think all small business people need to hear this. 1 of the best things I learned with mudding drywall knowing when to stop" take it back, get a refund, exchange the tool, talk with others business owners, crowd source "

On your voltages for the welder you need to check across the hot leads. Also check for good connections on all the wires (outlet side and at the breaker box but leave the breaker box for a licensed electrician). Another thought, since you were checking volts on a Sunday, there may not have been as much load on your electric company (other users off line). Good luck.

    • @MagentaRV
      @MagentaRV 4 місяці тому

Yes, check across both hots, it should be 235-250V. You should also test under load. Hook the tester up and actually do a test weld to see the drop. Also, I don't think ground should be bonded in a commercial building (because I think they're all subs which aren't supposed to be bonded). Test ohms from neutral to ground and there shouldn't be continuity.

Now, that i heard what you said. You need to check the voltage. If the outlet is not putting out enough. The plasma will shut down. Do you have enough Amperage? He checked voltage. Big difference.

A little tip when it comes to welding unibody stiffeners on jeeps is the metal is galvanized or zinc coated or something like that and you need to remove the coating or you get nasty welds that have yellowy or white scum around also the smoke is toxic when welding that stuff. If you pay close attention you can tell a slight color difference when you get through the coating to clean metal. Just something to note if you run into that kind of thing.

For the welder, I would look into the switch circuit. It typically continues flowing gas after you let off, so maybe the switch works as you are pulling it in, but at full finger pull it is opening back up.

Weld through primer would help. All the metal that you stripped down, spray weld through primer on it, turn the heat up slightly higher than you normally would and burn it in. Prevents rusting and helps the metal weld better. I dont use gas. I use flux core and it penetrates better. Doesnt look as pretty and its alot slower, but deeper welds equal stronger welds

When checking voltage you can be deceived by good voltage readings when there is no load so its best practice to check with no load and then with a load on the receptacle to see if your getting a severe voltage drop under load. If there is a voltage drop under load it can be anything from a failing main breaker to the wire clamps inside the outlet being loose and getting burned to having an undersized wire feeding the outlet. Be mindful that a breaker is rated for 80% of its labeled capacity meaning that a 15 amp breaker is good for a 12 amp load, 20 amp breaker for a 16 amp load, 25 amp breaker for a 20 amp load and 30 amp breaker for a 24 amp load so forth and so on. If its extremely hot then loads may have to be further reduced to keep circuits and devices from overheating.
Power companies can be notorious about having voltage drops and brown outs especially during peak usage hours. I've had to install buck and boost transformers to correct voltage drops from the power companies all over the Northern Seaboard and Canada. Long term you will see more frequent electrical component failures as motors, controls, AC cooling units, etc, etc fail prematurely when the power companies regularly drop voltage.
Devices require a certain amount of Watts in order to function so for example a device that needs 1440 Watts to function properly requires 12 amps at 120 volts since amps times volts equals Watts. Drop voltage to 110 and now you need 13 amps to provide the 1440 Watts. Drop to 100 volts and now you need 14.4 amps. When you draw more amps than the device is rated for then your device runs hotter and hotter until it eventually fails sometimes immediately and other times after a while from repetitive low voltage damage and of course if your on a 15 amp circuit you are drawing more amperage than the breaker is rated to carry in constant use.
Hope this gives some basic perspective to what you have to consider when electric devices start misbehaving and failing prematurely.
    Best!

is that a NP242 Tcase? If so you can Hack-n-Tap the back side for longer drive shaft to rear. There is; I think one company that makes an SYE for it...... and it is NOT budget friendly.. Hack-n-Tap is. very budget friendly. BTW- 242 and 231 each have same 4wd ratios in low and hi so your not loosing anything; if it was a 231 you would have kept stock geared anyway. Gaining the AWD portion of the 242 can be an advantage in some sections of this event your building Liberty Biberty for as well as rest of your plan

That said, I would happily agree to be assessed a charge for the 4-5 friends who will have helped me on this IF everyone else does the same. I have plenty of room in my budget for it.
