  • The serial baby killer Lucy Letby, will never be released from prison after she was sentenced to a whole-life term for the “sadistic” murders of seven babies.
The judge, Mr Justice Goss, ordered that she be sent a transcript of his sentencing remarks and copies of the statements read out by the families of her victims.
He said: “The defendant, Lucy Letby, has refused to attend court for this sentence hearing. Accordingly, I have to sentence her in her absence.
“I shall deliver the sentencing remarks as if she was present to hear them. And I direct that she is provided with a transcript of my remarks and copies of the victim personal statements read to the court.”
Behavioural psychologist Jo Hemmings believes serial child killer Lucy Letby got “sadistic pleasure” from killing babies.
“It’s incredibly rare... part of her sadism was to follow up with the parents after killing their baby. She was addicted to that behaviour.”

Neither of them have a clue about the mind of Lucy Letby they don’t know anymore than the average person in the street. The only way to do this is spending hours and hours with her over many years - even then you may not be sure. You can’t diagnose someone based on the sparse information available without knowing them and spending time with them, even if you were qualified to do so. All they can say is she has been convicted of serial murder, is going to prison for a very long time and the only person who knows why she did it is her.

The veneer of civilisation is very thin. A surprisingly large number of our population take pleasure in many forms of sadism from child abuse (not just sexual, often just physical abuse mounting to torture). It also extends to animals with illegal badger baiting, cock-fighting and dog fighting still endemic although illegal.
We also have the Abusive relationships in the male/female relationship. I didn't say marriage because many are co-habiting. The media has has latched on to the Letby case but it is the tiniest tip of a very large iceberg.

I'm not sure how it prolerly works in a women's prison but if she hasn't requested protective custody she's gonna living amongst women who've lost children whether dead or had them removed and some who wanted but couldn't have there will likely be an in prison bounty on her due to the nature and high profile of the case. In mens there was usually the unwritten rule of anyone who's committed crimes against women, children or the elderly were attacked on sight and forced to go into protection and live with the nonces.

I’ve seen this commented quite a few times since the verdict regarding women’s jails so I looked into it. The stats suggest that while violence rates in women’s prisons are higher than in men’s prisons (since 2019, anyway), this may be down to women inmates being more likely to report assaults and men being less likely to report. Assaults in male prisons are also twice as likely to be serious and require hospital treatment.

Leading expert, Kent Kiehl mentioned in The Psychopath Whisperer that he hadn't personally encountered a female who met the full criteria for psychopathy. Letby didn't show up for sentencing - a true psychopath would be indifferent to the impact statements of victims' families or even derive some form of satisfaction from them. Instead I think it's partly Munchausen syndrome by proxy (or Factitious Disorder Imposed on Another, FDIA) - a disorder where a caregiver fabricates, exaggerates, or induces illness in someone under their care to gain attention or sympathy. Women often derive status from maternalism, but in rare cases it can become pathological. I also see a bitter resentment, caused by her weakness and inferiority, leaving her with a desire to see the world burn - her revenge on existence itself. This is probably why she became a sadist. All in all, a dark, despicable creature.

This analysis is frankly nonsense. First off this lady is described as a behavioural psychologist, yet she is giving an opinion on inferred emotions, from someone she hasn't met never mind assessed. Behaviourists main focus is on obersable behaviour, not emotional states or clinical disorders. There is scant evidence of her motivations, never mind her emotional states. Also how can someone have emotions yet experience sadistic pleasure? Thats contradictory. Also is the guilty notes she obsessively scrawled about her crimes which were central to the case, doesnt exactly strike me as being unable to feel guilt.
She has no forensic qualifications and has no qualifications which mean she is able to offer any diagnosis of anything. What these talking heads tend to do is try to fit the person to the disorder, which is the opposite of whats sensible. I would argue that "psychologists" such as this are dangerous, they have already made up their opinions of people with their limited knowledge and just look for info that backs their prejudices and ignore info that refutes it. Her idea that shes a "pure psychopath" just shows how little she knows about the construct as pure psychopaths do not exist, because some of the items which make up the construct are contradictory. Psychopaths also show behavioural problems thoughout their life, its not something that pops up in your 20s. Its actually such a high threshold to find anyone who scores enough to be a psychopath they are diffcult to find in, even in prisons. The fact is these rent a quotes have never assessed it, show no evidence of training on the subject or even what other disorders could be present. I suppose thats why they are there, because the people in the know aren't about to go waffle nonsense for the cameras.

CPR causes air embolus, Sepsis causes liver damage, nobody on the planet can cause a baby to have a heart attack at will, let alone 3 times in a row, attempted murder by overfeeding milk is ridiculous because the evidence would be found at the crime scene, lactose intolerance would cause babies stomach's to swell, mis-prescribed insulin from rushed doctor's illegible handwriting or the pharmacy being unable to read that handwriting. Have I missed one? I feel like I've missed one!
Evans and his team should know about CPR, AE, Sepsis and liver damage but they either refused to possibility or acted like it didn't exist. Therefore, there are two options: 1) They are incompetent and not fit to stand as expert witnesses or, 2. They have lied under oath.
The senior doctors were hardly on the wards. Mostly junior doctors and nurses. Plumber called weekly to a unsanitary and toxic ward and prosecution threw everything at her except the kitchem sink, probably because it had shite coming out of it! Why didn't Brearey address the plumbing or sepsis issues? Because if he did, he'd have nothing left to throw at Lucy. Sepsis was the silent killer moving throughout the ward and it was Brearey's ideal accomplice for him to pin the deaths on who he wanted off his ward.
Sepsis is devastating and is misdiagnosed between 8 and 20% of the time. Onset can be sudden and organ failure extensive and severe. My cousin's first partner was released from hospital and died from sepsis within days. Her aunty was brought into hospital and her condition suddenly turned critical. She survived but lost parts of both her hands and feet to the sepsis infection. My Dad's cousin recently fell ill, went to hospital and was sent home. Days later the ambulance was called and he had sepsis.
In CrimeScene2Courtroom's Lucy Letby school friend video, she stated Lucy was made head girl in her final year of school because she was the one who was most likely to set a good example and speak out against those who were misbehaving. Now put that personality on a ward with absent and possibly negligent doctors and unsanitary conditions that doctors weren't doing enough about. Lucy was the face behind the campaign for the new maternity ward and possibly didn't know to keep her mouth shut when talking to the doctors. I honestly believe Lucy Letby was the original whistle blower and Dr Brearey turned against her and blew the whistle back at her first opportunity he got. Who do you think poured the milk all over the nursery, because all that milk didn't come out of that baby!
Retired pediatrician Dewi Evans one of the boys with a hatred for hospital management and attuned to the plight of his comrades, inserts, or injects, himself into the case, which in and of itself violates the preservation of independence, and finds what no one else could. Not once, not twice, but Twenty two times. Here, this is what that looks like: criminality, criminality, criminality, criminality, criminality, criminality, criminality, criminality, criminality, criminality, criminality, criminality, criminality, criminality, criminality, criminality, criminality, criminality, criminality, criminality, criminality, criminality. Never deviating, never providing even the possibility of a non criminal explanation.

This is one of those very rare cases... where nothing about it makes any sense?
A conviction by a jury with only circumstantial evidence, is not proof that she committed the crimes.
Just proof... that ordinary members of the public made a decision on circumstantial evidence.
Nine months of dry, monotonous 'evidence' devoid of any smoking gun or a motive.
It would be easy for a colleague, possibly a superior 'vindictive' nurse/doctor to incriminate her.
Knowing her schedule or even organising it. Or covering up negligence or malpractice is still feasible.
In a modern world, with high tech surveillance and cutting edge forensics...
all this case rested on was, "well, it must've been her... so therefore it was her".
Now the case is over, it's legal for righteous and disgusted journalists,

What forensic evidence is there that any of these babies were murdered and what evidence is there that directly links this nurse to their deaths. To suggest that Lucy is a psychopath does not match her behaviour - if she has no empathy why did she write her so called confession note? I have worked in Psychiatry for nearly 40 years - the suggestion that Letby is a psychopath is not supported by the facts - nothing in her background remotely suggests this. People should be aware that for a psychologist to make a diagnosis without actually assessing a person face to face over several sessions is unprofessional. There is no evidence linking Letby to any crime either actual eyewitnesses , circumstantial or forensic. There is strong evidence she was set up because she was a whistleblower. An inquiry by the Royal College of Paediatricians into the unit immediately prior to the spike in deaths and collapses actually found she was a highly skilled, competent nurse. People should also be aware that the Chester Hospital had one of the highest rates of stillbirths in the Country at the same time as this spike in neonate collapses and deaths. Personally I am disappointed that Hartley- Brewer has sunk to the low levels of journalism practiced by her peers.

If Letby is a malignant narcissist or has narcissistic qualities those types love to let victims down by not showing up or breaking promises. They enjoy the frustration it can cause. The law should change so people like Letby cannot do it anymore.

Why did she adopt rescue cats?
Why did she raise money for the hospital?
Why did she send sympathy cards?
She wanted to become a nurse to begin with because she had a difficult birth and was saved by nurses.

The consultants running the failing neonatal unit in Countess of Chester Hospital were the subject of a critical report from the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health. The consultants filed a report with the police alleging the infant deaths were due to Nurse Lucy Letby. In all but one case the infants received autopsies and the Coroner found they died of natural causes. During the same period the Countess of Chester hospital had high levels of still births.
A retired paediatrician, Dr Dewi Evans, approached the National Crime Agency and suggested they should
invite him to participate in the investigation. Dr Evans is not a pathologist or forensic scientist and he has no experience in the investigation of mass murder in a hospital setting. Evans disregarded the findings of pathologists who performed the autopsies and developed his own theories. He made his claims based on a review of the clinical records and images taken at autopsy.
Despite having no new evidence, Cheshire Constabulary accepted the medical rationale of Dr Evans and charged Lucy Letby with 7 murder and 10 attempted murders.
It should also be pointed out the number of perinatal deaths in 2017 & 2018 was higher than in 2015 & 2016.
In June 2019, Dr Gibbs retired, he was the senior consultant who accused Lucy Letby of murdering infants. In that same year the number of perinatal deaths and stillbirths dramatically declined.
The case against Lucy Letby lacked scientific evidence and is based on unverified hypotheses, it should never have been bought to trial. The so called "experts" should have been ripped apart on the witness stand as being woefully out of their depth and engaging in wild unsupported speculation.
Frankly it reeks of a cover up for clinical failures at the hospital.

The scientific experts for the prosecution were unqualified and the defence did sweet FA to defend their client. It is clear no babies were attacked or murdered by anybody. I think you are simplistic in calling her a psychopath. She may well have several disorders. I don’t think she even realises her part in the deaths. Not turning up at court was her way of not acknowledging what she did. She had distanced herself from her actions but she clearly had a compulsion to continue, even when Drs started to challenge her. She couldn’t stop.

Just my opinion, and I have no mental health experience, but I really don't think she is a psychopath or sociopath. She wrote those notes which were filled with self admonishment & guilt. There would have been more witness testimony regarding subtle but sinister acts, like watching someone slip on some ice followed by her laughing. Something would have been OFF, there would have been TELLS which would have come out in the trial. Also, she had no criminal history, nothing before the murders.
Most likely I believe she began with good intentions. Either in Liverpool or in Chester, she witnessed a baby's death. She got OFF on it, and discovered a devious pleasure. It's possible it even had a sexual component (ala Karla Faye Tucker).
Sadistic and narcissistic is not far fetched, but I can't see any other mental irregularities here.
Interesting, she was 25 years old at the time of at least some of the crimes if I'm not mistaken. This is about the time a brain is fully formed. It could be a biological issue, such as a tumor or lesion in her brain. I hope she is willing to donate her brain to science so it can be studied besides apologizing to the parents of the infants, her parents/friends/colleagues. Also, she should do as much good in jail (tutoring for example) as possible and find God or some spirituality. Maybe take some college classes to understand herself.

Julia takes pleasure in the suffering of people as well and is still getting paid for it. She will chant down the microphone if a refugee kills or injured anyone and brand all refugees as evil and criminal. So what’s happening here? Why is she confused that non refugees actually can do great harm. She describes Letby as angel faced even after we are aware of her crimes. What criteria does she use to come to this conclusion? I can only assume we shouldn’t look at white women as having the potential for criminality. This describes perfectly how prejudice can be a hindrance to justice. It was Beverly Alitt that was last convicted of killing babies whilst on duty. We need to abandon the idea that criminals have a skin pigment type or a gender it’s costing too many lives.
