I am fifty years old and have medium length curly hair. You have saved my life. Literally,I was walking out in the cold with wet hair. It was wet for 5 or more hours. I was putting product on my wet hair. Now I wait and apply later and do the diffusing as you suggested. My hair is only wet for less than an hour and a half now. You have saved me from colds and pneumonia, lol! I’m also sleeping with a silk cap now. My hubby of 25 years thinks it’s funny but cute. I can’t believe the difference.

I appreciate this advice and the science. I live in Sweden and we get cold, snowy winters too, as it's on the same latitudes as Canada. My specific area has very dry air all year around though, plus it often rains, even in the winters, and almost always very windy as well. All of that is a definite hair disaster. So I agree we should cancel winter lol.

I live in the middle east and the weather outside is usually 50°C in the summers and around 23°C in the winter. Its so difficult to get my hands on any curly products and even if I do find them somewhere..they'll be double its actual price😫
I feel your pain! I live in Kuwait now so major temp changes from season to season and place to place! From hot dry heat to AC.. and from a humid bathroom to another change of temp 😅 the struggle really is real 😂🤓

My friend's daughter has such damaged hair! She is only 8 and doesn't see the value in spending time on her beautiful hair. It looks like a mix between yours and Amanda's, and is mid way down her back when dry! But it is matted underneath in sections sometimes and is always so big! Could you do a transformation video taking someone with really dry, chlorinated, unkempt hair and in 3 days or a week show the new do? Including the best slip conditioners and easy hair styling products?

Ugggh, static. My (low porosity) hair is awful in the winter, but it isn't that it's frizzy. The static and dry air flatten out my curls making my hair go limp, and the friction from scarves and the fur on my coat hood makes it even worse. I've tried ending my routine with oils and serums to no avail.
Oh man I am the same!! I was just gonna write that I can't seem to find a good balance. I end with different oils and things but it either does nothing or makes it too heavy and makes it flat....I can't seem to figure it out. I seriously need to find a way to have Mel see my hair and tell me how to fix it!! ;) maybe others will have ideas for us in these comments!!! Hope you and yours are all healthy and happy as possible :)

@@jadetobin I would say I'm glad to know I'm not the only one, but I'm not glad that others are dealing with this frustration! :) My hair gets weighed down so easily and when I try to add moisture to combat the static it just builds up and flattens it more. I need something that will swell my hair up and make it fuller. I would welcome some frizz if it meant volume!

Yea, it can definitely be frustrating to find the right balance and find the right products i think....there are some Mel uses that I'd love to try one day, that light weight gel...I've forgotten the name, but it's on the list I keep of dream hair products...but, especially out of work again, I can only use very inexpensive stuff....I have a lot of hair (though I've lost half of it the last year or 2,I loved Mel's hair loss video!) So it puffs up some, but in trying for juicy curls and not look dry and frizzy, they end up heavy and sorta pulled flat. That's why it'd be awesome to have Mel or someone that could look at it, feel it and try products in it, to find the right mix :) but, we also gotta be happy with what we have too, so trying to do that as well ;)

I've been wearing a satin bonnet under my winter hat... genius! Nobody except me and my hair (and my husband, who thinks I'm nuts! Lol) knows!!! Thank goodness my hair is virgin and healthy again, finally!, but this trick helps so much!
