    Water Cooled - 475G cam kit: amzn.to/3E0e98K
    Today I talk about the cams I put in three weeks ago and give my initial thought and the 3 different configurations I ran.
    Configuration 1: Modified stock head pipe with catalytic removed and converted into a 2 into 1
    Configuration 2: stock head pipe with catalytic and converted into a 2 into 1
    Configuration 3: plugged removed and stock head pipe with catalytic
    I noticed that the bike was happiest with the 2 into 1 and catalytic. Properly tuned it ran great and I would recommend anyone to try the stock head pipe with the crossover plugged but leave in the catalytic in if your are only going to use home tuning.

    I’m glad you mentioned putting the cat back in because that’s exactly what dynojet told me was not to remove the cat or the back pressure loss would be the wrong move , for performance! You are the first to mention this , and I’m glad you did. Thank you!

      I’ve installed Jackpot head pipe no cat with Rinehart DBX 4.5 slip ons and the power is amazing. Also inserted 6” FuelMoto torque cones and it improved the low torque a lot.

    @MrScrappydoo85 3 роки тому +5

    Most people who switch from the FP3 to the power vision from Fuel Moto and a good head pipe and muffler combo you should get more gains. If you're going to run no Cat you need to add a tuning insert to correct the back pressure in the muffler. M8s are extremely fussy if you take their back pressure away

      @PaulOnTheRun  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah. I learned that real quick but just wanted to give some real world experience. I knew with my current setup I wasn’t going to be running catless and I may be in the near future having it dynoed and using the fuel moto. Right now it’s actually running really good. Once I catch up on some funds I’m doing that next. Deuces ✌🏼

    I have the S&S 475 cam chest kit in my 2017 Tri Glide, power vision tuner. I did the cam chest kit to fix the M8 wet sumping problem. It did fix that because it gets a new oil pump. As far as performance, definitely a gain there in the 3K up RPM range, sound is awesome. Gas milage dropped to 32-33 mpg from 37-39. It is a little richer in AFR at idle but thats fine in the hot summer, may make it run a little cooler. If I had to pick what I like best about this cam kit would be the the wet sumping issue is gone, thats huge, quality components over stock OEM and the idle and sound is awesome.

    • @PaulOnTheRun
      @PaulOnTheRun  3 роки тому +1

      For sure on the sumping issue. My mileage took a tiny nosedive too but I'm contributing to me just riding it harder but it's ok. It's still way better than my truck which gets 12mpg. haha!!! Deuces ✌

      As far as Super Trap exhaust🤙. A lot of professional indoor racers use this exhaust. Some of the monster trucks, sprint cars, motorcycle racing etc. no power loss just sound reduction.

      @@eagleeye5890 you will be happy with it. The fuel mileage drops probably where it should be anyway. HD has them too lean anyway. The sumping issue is gone. I have had it for approx. Six thousand miles. I did for the summer run Amsoil 60 w, HD recommends temps above 80 degrees to use straight weight so I tried it, really notice a diff. In felt heat in stop and go traffic. Will switch back to multigrade oil for the winter months. BTW, the engine runs much quieter with the cam chest. Very, very little engine noise!

      It really is. After about a good 700 miles it appears to be running pretty good. I did a couple pulls using the FP3 and I got a max of 133.5 ft lbs of torque. I know it’s not as accurate as a dyno but some impressive numbers were produced comparatively speaking. Thanks for watching. Deuces ✌️

    I have a '20 Heritage Classic 114. I have no direct comparison with what you're running, but I will give you my experience, which somewhat verifies what you are finding with your setup.
    I wanted to keep my warranty, so the only thing I've done is change mufflers. I installed the V&H Eliminator 300s, which meant running without the cats since the cats are installed in the mufflers on my Softail. I am not running a tuner because doing so immediately voids the warranty unless the tuner is a Screamin' Eagle tuner.
    After installing the mufflers, I immediately noticed a drop in performance. I mean, it was very noticeable up and down the RPM range. Looking inside the mufflers, I could see they were basically straight pipes with some baffling around the inside perimeter of the muffler. I knew immediately that this is why I was losing performance. You hear about back pressure, though some will say that back pressure is a myth. Call it want you want, back pressure or scavenging, but something was wrong and I knew it was because I no longer was running with the catalytic converters. The mufflers were too free-flowing.
    Luckily, V&H makes quiet baffles for the 300s, so I ordered a pair. Let me tell you, after installing the baffles, the performance increased significantly. The tradeoff was that the exhaust wasn't as loud as without the baffles, but there are inevitable tradeoffs when it comes to exhaust systems. So, I think you're on the right track going with the SuperTrapp exhaust system with the tunable discs, especially since you're looking to quiet them down when towing your pups while, at the same time, not losing performance. I have an FP3 on my '14 Limited and I can't say enough good things about the tuner and about Vance & Hines customer service. Both are top notch.
    Anyway, that's my story and I'm sure you'll find that happy medium that you're going after. Good luck and thanks for the update on your installation, Paul. Good stuff!

    • @PaulOnTheRun
      @PaulOnTheRun  3 роки тому +1

    Does anyone think it’s worth voiding the factory warranty in favor of the 475? Or should i just wait to do it after the warranty expires

    • @PaulOnTheRun
      @PaulOnTheRun  Рік тому

      You know I was two months out from my warranty expiring but timing was good and I really wanted it. Would I have done it earlier, now knowing how simple a setup this is and if installed correctly, yeah I would. Warranty is a funny thing though. They can only deny it if they can prove what you did actually caused the damage so the burden is in the proof and they can only deny those components. So for example if your regulator goes out, what does that have to do with your cam. Nothing. So while you may void one thing others are not. Hope this helps. Deuces ✌🏼

      I’ve put about 14k miles since the install and I don’t recall feeling the clutch slip. I did early on consider upgrading the clutch but I never felt the reason to do so. I’ll add that I typically don’t dog my bike so I’ve never felt the need for it. Deuces ✌🏼

    So I had a 475 s&s cam kit put in my 2018 street glide 107 cubic my only problem was a red dot light is continually on when I’m riding or motor is running and I was told the red light is a error light and they could not clear it. And my RPM right below 2000 rpm it cuts out on me like to much fuel and back fires sometime so to keep over 2000 rpm that was what I was told where I had the cam kit put in. It was tune with DynoJet straight to the bike ECM now my question is can I correct all I mentioned and not have red dot light on or have to keep rpm higher? Other than that it runs great . Darrell

      Darrell it sounds like something else is wrong. I never had a red light or engine light come on once I installed it. You may have to clear your codes though.
