I’m not gonna lie. As a Tennessee fan I thought, “here we go” when I saw the way he moved. He’s a good athlete.

The ball ZIPS out of his hand , and he's a great athlete. Such an impressive performance.

Seems like nobody on this offense pays any attention to the details…except Michael Hawkins.

Heart of a champion. He has the locker room.

He came into a situation that couldn't have been much worse against a defense that couldn't be much better. It's a small sample size but I dont know how it doesn't just get better. He'll make mistakes but the poise is undeniable

A mediocre start with three games under their belts, the offense struggling outside of a paddling of a vastly inferior opponent. Only the Sooners great, young defense seemed to keep the early season from falling into a complete disaster. The Sooners came home to play a top 10 opponent and a true freshman entered the game and wowed the fans with his athletic ability and poise under pressure but ultimately lost the game. The year is 1985 and the Quarterback, Jamelle Holieway wouldn't lose the rest of the year and led the team to a national championship. Does history repeat itself? Maybe...

He’s a ball player man. Somebody tell him to not stare his receivers down. Let’s go Hawkins. This is your time

Not sure but the line seemed to block a little better for Hawkins.
He definitely has a brains, balls, wheels and zip. You kinda wonder if he could’ve won that game for us had he started. I’m was JA but understand the benching. Sad but had to be done. Glad this kid showed some life.

I was talking to someone earlier about the Kearney thing too and don't get it. With the injuries, if Burks is healthy, Kearney, Burks and Pettaway should be rolling out as the ones against Auburn.

Hawkins showed he deserves this next start. Where it goes from there is anyone’s guess. But he was running the same plays from the same OC and OL but totally different results. We have had a QB problem, not an OC/OL problem. And yes, players will respond according to who’s playing QB! Been there!

I"ve noticed that weird sidearm is his typical pass delivery and noticed that in the spring game too. Reminds me slightly of how Mahomes has been throwing the ball. Don't come at me for suggesting he's in the same class of player as Patrick; I'm just using someone that's fairly well known to use as a reference.

MHjr is OUr new QB. Here are a few notes and reminders I have about it.
MHjr looked like he wanted to win. It was an extremely tall task considering the situation and lack of morale. He didn’t succeed, but man he definitely showed us what he wanted to do.
He seemingly had better awareness and decision making. He knows what throws he needs to make and what type of throws needs to be made. He knows when and where to scramble and he can make a ball on the run.
This is his first start and it’s against Auburn. Auburn is pretty good defensively and they have good edge rushers. He’s gonna have to run a lot and likely carry the offense on his shoulders. HE WILL MAKE TRUE FRESHMAN MISTAKES!!! He’s gonna make mistakes that’ll make every OU fan scratch their heads. There will be some plays that will show his inexperience. I don’t wanna hear Casey Thompson or even Jackson Arnold’s name whenever he does make those mistakes. He won’t be perfect.
Overall, I’m really excited about him going forward. Oklahoma needs to give him a good system next couple years if he really wants to thrive. He’s got that NFL in his genes

From my observation, I could be wrong but it looks like he’s been studying the playbook and JFA hasn’t ☝🏾⭕️

My thoughts exactly. He’s got the vision JA doesn’t. That roll out pass he made to Pettaway at 6:22 is perfect example. He could have tossed it to Barnes a second earlier for a 6-7 yard gain, but keeps calm and finds Pettaway on the sideline for double the yards. It’s the type of play JA would have dumped it to Barnes because he wouldn’t have seen Pettaway getting open

Now he should have hit Sharp on that last play, but in the moment I can understand him taking off. Most notable thing about the play is Sharp walks right past everyone while they're surrounding Hawkins, then eventually comes over to him right as he's about to get up. I get you were wide open, but there's enough reason to think you probably would have dropped it anyways.

We need to get rid of the RPO. It hurts the oline firing off.

Really like him but there are things to work on. You do see that on the gutsy run when everyone thinks he is hurt that Sharp was wide open in the end zone. Should have seen him and thrown it.

I said all season the whole offense fed off of Jackson's energy. It was all off and when Michael came in the whole offense started to gel a little

If only we had put him in when there was still time to maybe win the game... It was obvious weeks ago arnold wasn't the guy. I'd say they gave him plenty of opportunity and then some.
