I watched that game in which the Cowboys lost that game. The ball was Actually about 2" from the goal line. It was a run of 99.75 yards to be more accurate. It won't ever be beat.
I was waiting for the Garrison Hearst run, i saw that live when i was a kid. My jaw hit the floor on his stiff arm and tight roping up the sideline. Truly a memorable run.

After scoring, the kickoff was mishandled and bounced laterally out of bounds just inside of the pylon, giving the Cowboys the worst possible field position and the Vikings maximum momentum.
Derrick Henry’s was much more entertaining because he broke like 5 tackles and some people say it was the jags defence but there star players like Myles Jack and A.J. Bouye were trying to tackle him.

The craziest part about AP's 90 yard TD run in Washington was that he had 8 other rushes in the game and didn't even rush for 100 yards. 8 carries 8 yards, 1 TD carry 90 yards.

RB has a 40 yard dash speed of 4.5 seconds; approximately 17mph and for the most part is going in a straight line I. The DB has to disengage from his blocker, turn and start running, most likely at an angle /. The DB has more ground to cover and has a delayed start. Even if the DB has a 40 yard time of 3.5 he isn't going to have the ground available to catch the RB over the remaining 85 yards; actually closer to 82 yards if we consider that even with a sweeping tap tackle the RB would break the plane of the goal line without being down by contact. I suspect many of them would give up long before to conserve energy for the rest of the game.

I'm just thinking that after the initial turning around of the DB that he can then accelerate just like he does from a standing stop while doing a 40 yard dash. It just seems like the team mate of the runner outruns the DB at such a long distance from the line of scrimmage that the turning around part would no longer be a factor. Perhaps because the defenders have to turn or break off other assignments? Just a thought.
