Easy Music Theory For Bass: Learn How To Play Major And Minor Triads In Three Positions
Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 лют 2025
- This lesson takes you through three different positions for playing major triads and minor triads on the bass. It then combines the shapes to play a common chord progression, the "one six two five" or I-vi-ii-V. Once you learn the shapes, we can move them freely about the fretboard and combine them to write creative bass lines. It's the perfect exercise to help you expand your fretboard knowledge and master the bass.

As a long time guitar player, I just recently started learning bass. I have to say, Ryan has the coolest bass channel out there. Thanks much for your lessons and insight.
Wow, thanks!
I don't know English very well but you managed to make me understand a beautiful exercise, thank you, you are fantastic.
I’m a beginner and think Ryan is a fantastic instructor and communicator! Thank you Ryan!
Thanks so much! I appreciate that!
Great lesson. It fits in nicely with Carol Kaye's advice to practice chords instead of scales.
Yes indeed!
This lesson is extremely useful-will get this under the fingers. Thank you.
As a guitar player that is learning bass, I see the four fret span shapes described align with the CAGED system of chords and scales. Each position is associated with an open position chord on guitar.
Great lesson. Just what I needed on triads. Thank you.
Great to hear!
Thank you! UA-cam Ryan is a pretty darned good teacher!
Thank you!!! :-)
New Favorite teacher :)
Very nice. No matter how long you've been playing there's great value in going back to the basics.
Grateful, appreciated! You are a gifted and generous person, thanks for sharing. Glad I found your channel!
I appreciate that!
Excellent beginner lesson, I can use this to reinforce my work with beginner students. Thanks.
Thanks! Great lesson. I like the pinky position because it's easy to go between the major and minor versions.
Very nice 😍
Wonderful lesson - takes me out of my limided habits and gives me more space and freedom. Thanks!

This is great. I'm a newbie on bass. This gives a lot to work on/. Thanks!
Hi. My first guitar lessons I learned major scale from every left finger. I have now been using one masters approach (Jimmy Bruno) who teaches too, of just 5 positions. from the 5th/6th/7th/2nd/3rd... enjoying
Your tutorials are perfect, thank you.
You're very welcome!
Excellent lesson will start working on the different ways to play triads. It really opens up the fret board and connecting cords in different areas thank you
Glad it was helpful!

Hi Ryan. How would you play Always On My Mind by Willie Nelson? Would you please do a video explaining a good approach? Thanks in advance.
Great suggestion! I'll add it to my idea queue!
Do you have a course like rich brown starting from the beginning ?
I have a couple courses… one on TrueFire and one on my website. Head to ryanmadora.com for all the details!
You’ve got some ice basses..so which is the best, your fav ??
I have quite a few favorites, but I basically play what is best for any particular gig/playing scenario. Always a fan of the P bass though!
Would be nice if you added tabs as well.
