  • This lesson takes you through three different positions for playing major triads and minor triads on the bass. It then combines the shapes to play a common chord progression, the "one six two five" or I-vi-ii-V. Once you learn the shapes, we can move them freely about the fretboard and combine them to write creative bass lines. It's the perfect exercise to help you expand your fretboard knowledge and master the bass.

Very nice. No matter how long you've been playing there's great value in going back to the basics.

Great lesson. It fits in nicely with Carol Kaye's advice to practice chords instead of scales.

Hi. My first guitar lessons I learned major scale from every left finger. I have now been using one masters approach (Jimmy Bruno) who teaches too, of just 5 positions. from the 5th/6th/7th/2nd/3rd... enjoying

Hi Ryan. How would you play Always On My Mind by Willie Nelson? Would you please do a video explaining a good approach? Thanks in advance.

I have quite a few favorites, but I basically play what is best for any particular gig/playing scenario. Always a fan of the P bass though!
