Master Chord Tones on Bass with this Simple Tip

Plenty of well made bass channels here on the Tube, but IMO yours' is one of the best...at least, for what my needs are! It's a shame you haven't 720K instead of 72K subs. This video of yours' is a real mind opener to me! Thank you Rich! (BTW we share the same name😉!)
For all the content on offer here, the edit at 7:48 leads to the most important part of the video. There is an intimacy to Rich's approach that distinguishes it from most other music instruction on this platform, for through it he encourages his viewers to learn how to learn. Metacognition for the win!
The playing, the lessons……all phenomenal. Thank you for doing this.
"There's a lot of music on those exercises." Love this.
SIR
I REALLY LIKE THE WAY YOU TO EXPLAIN ANYTHING MUSICALLY
Such a good lesson you’ve given us here, Rich. Thank you so much!!💜
We all just need a take a minute and appreciate the absolute wisdom that Rich gives us. Some great bass players aren’t great teachers, and vice versa. Fortunately for us, Rich Ross is both! Thanks for all that you give us, Rich 🫶🏼
❤Great... Chord tones demystified
PERFECT LESSON, THANK YOU VERY MATCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rich, it’s not often that one finds a great player who’s also a great teacher! 🎶
Excellent demonstration
Simply fantastic. Especially if you use Autumn Leaves as the preface indeed. Being able to double as both the chordal indication while coming up with nice and intricate basslines/solos can make the instrument very fun. Cheers
Fantastic lesson, thank you sir! You are a fantastic educator! I really need to improve my knowledge of intervals BELOW the root - that feels like a key to improvement.
7.40 - Take ownership of your progress! Yes!!!
LOVE this lesson!!! I particularly appreciated the point of respecting the listener so that they could follow the solo!!! Something I learned many years ago from a wonderful Gentleman and Jazz musician named Oliver Jones
I prefer not to have PDFs. The act of writing something down is part of learning something because I have to take it in to be able to write it out. Handwritten notes are also more visually memorable than neat printed documents.
Best bass video ever #1
Hello Rich,
I want to thanks you for sharing your knowledge in music theory
By far, I've got seen a lot of youtube video on bass lesson and you take the best way for explain it.
Thank you !
What I love about your content Rich is it makes me think of variations. For example, doing 251s in all keys, but positionally, Dm going up starting on low F, G7 going down starting on B, then C going up starting on G, shift up to D on G string, repeat up and down the neck in all keys. Wow.
What an awesome lesson! Thank you!!!!
At my age it took me a few replays to grasp it all but wow.Opens up a ton of new possibilities to start working on today and always.Great lesson and much appreciated.
Thanks Rich, Lessons like this put the musicality in music. Much appreciated, bla, bla bla. Peace and love.
love the tune, thanks for the lesson
I've been waiting all to have another video from you Sir. God bless your work
This is the type of content that I’ve been waiting for you to produce. Would love to see more of this! Thanks a bunch, Mr Brown’stone!
Like how you simplified the idea, very informative and to the point 😊
Great Lesson, Rick
Nice learning sir thanks very much
Thank you for your teachings are unique
thanks very much for this Rich! As always, you manage to fill in very valuable gaps in my understanding and help me with my execution 🙌. Working on a walking line (both for ii-V-I's and something like Autumn Leaves) in a given range on the fretboard is challenging, but you've given a great foundation again to tackle this.
Awesome teacher thanx man
Thanks!
Thank you for all of these great videos!! I feel like I'm finally starting to understand the bass instead of being intimidated by all of the unknowns
Thanks Rich, ask and ye shall receive.
Great lesson! Could you do a lesson about how to get from intermediate bass player (stuck in one place practicing 2 octave scales, arepeggios, warm-up exercises, improvising and playing a bass line created on a fly to a backing track) to the advanced bass player and what to do, what to learn, what to practice, some theory to become advanced, some scale and arpeggio exercises but for the advanced bass player? IT WOULD BE SO COOL! And many people would benefit from this lesson. A genre playing lessons would also be GREAT for example how to play rock on bass, how to play metal on bass, how to play soul on bass, how to play motown on bass, how to play country on bass, how to play fusion (jazz-rock) on bass, how to play funk on bass and of course how to play jazz on bass guitar and how to start easily with walking bass lines and slowly become more fluent in playing walking bass (everything for intermediate/early advanced bass players) ! Could you please do lessons like this? It would be awesome! You are a great teacher and thank you for everything! I hope you will do lessons like these ideas I gave you in this comment. WE WOULD LOVE THAT! Greetings from Poland, Mike :)
Thank you Rich for another awesome lesson that is reach of anyone's skill level. +100% on writing things down by hand. I am off to the shed.
The setup looks simple. A man, a bass and camera. But OMG this man can TEACH!!!! Plowing thru the videos and making great, (althought not always easy), headway, 💯🙏
Dude! You are an amazing player-teacher and speaker!
Wonderful lesson-thanks
I’m so glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for watching!
Hello from Brazil! You really help me to improve my skills, thank you.
Thanks God for you, Rich. You’re my number one YT teacher!
Thank you so much! That means a lot.
That was excellent. Expanding the arpeggios. Identifying the overlaps of the chords. Using inversions for voice leading. All within the minimalist approach to stay in the same area. Your style is wonderfully elegant. Glad I found you today !
I'm glad you did as well. Thank you for your kind words, and thanks for watching!
COOOOOOL!!!!!!!!
Good lesson, Rich! I am liking the work with 4 fret span, it led me to some previously unexplored shapes/music in the low register of my 5-string.
Useful and I'm exploring that very tune :)
Awesome! I hope this helps clear up a few things with that song. Thanks for watching!
Another valuable lesson. I will need to watch it again to take notes though. 😅
Thank you......
It does make sense....now!😁
Rich you da Man. One day would you break down your intro. How you made it? The music knowledge behind it like a lesson, etc. Newbie asking.
Always the well dressed instructor, again, nice shirt. Thanks 😎
100K!
Damn you! Yet another ill shirt! I curse tou Rich Brown, and your delightful shirt choices....and that was an eye/ear opener. I've never been in a situation where I have to "walk". I'm not a jazz player. I just jam riffs with my friends and write songs. Having said that, over the years, I realize how much that the lack of that rudimenraty skill has bit me in the tail, many times.
Oh man. Well, I do appreciate the kind words, but I rebuke your damnation and your curse! Lol! 🙅🏾♂️🙅🏾♂️🙅🏾♂️
Speaking of in person lessons, let's say I happen to live in the same city as you, would it be possible to get some lessons? :)
I'm not taking on new students at the moment, but thank you for asking.
Just happen on your channel. Do you offer instruction?
Not at this time.
Can anybody tell me why, as a guitar player I have suddenly become obsessed with learning the bass?
I provide my students with pdfs sheet Music and xml files
Question: Do you offer online lessons❓❓❓
Not at this time.
