Plenty of well made bass channels here on the Tube, but IMO yours' is one of the best...at least, for what my needs are! It's a shame you haven't 720K instead of 72K subs. This video of yours' is a real mind opener to me! Thank you Rich! (BTW we share the same name😉!)

For all the content on offer here, the edit at 7:48 leads to the most important part of the video. There is an intimacy to Rich's approach that distinguishes it from most other music instruction on this platform, for through it he encourages his viewers to learn how to learn. Metacognition for the win!

We all just need a take a minute and appreciate the absolute wisdom that Rich gives us. Some great bass players aren’t great teachers, and vice versa. Fortunately for us, Rich Ross is both! Thanks for all that you give us, Rich 🫶🏼

Simply fantastic. Especially if you use Autumn Leaves as the preface indeed. Being able to double as both the chordal indication while coming up with nice and intricate basslines/solos can make the instrument very fun. Cheers

Fantastic lesson, thank you sir! You are a fantastic educator! I really need to improve my knowledge of intervals BELOW the root - that feels like a key to improvement.

LOVE this lesson!!! I particularly appreciated the point of respecting the listener so that they could follow the solo!!! Something I learned many years ago from a wonderful Gentleman and Jazz musician named Oliver Jones

I prefer not to have PDFs. The act of writing something down is part of learning something because I have to take it in to be able to write it out. Handwritten notes are also more visually memorable than neat printed documents.

What I love about your content Rich is it makes me think of variations. For example, doing 251s in all keys, but positionally, Dm going up starting on low F, G7 going down starting on B, then C going up starting on G, shift up to D on G string, repeat up and down the neck in all keys. Wow.

thanks very much for this Rich! As always, you manage to fill in very valuable gaps in my understanding and help me with my execution 🙌. Working on a walking line (both for ii-V-I's and something like Autumn Leaves) in a given range on the fretboard is challenging, but you've given a great foundation again to tackle this.

Great lesson! Could you do a lesson about how to get from intermediate bass player (stuck in one place practicing 2 octave scales, arepeggios, warm-up exercises, improvising and playing a bass line created on a fly to a backing track) to the advanced bass player and what to do, what to learn, what to practice, some theory to become advanced, some scale and arpeggio exercises but for the advanced bass player? IT WOULD BE SO COOL! And many people would benefit from this lesson. A genre playing lessons would also be GREAT for example how to play rock on bass, how to play metal on bass, how to play soul on bass, how to play motown on bass, how to play country on bass, how to play fusion (jazz-rock) on bass, how to play funk on bass and of course how to play jazz on bass guitar and how to start easily with walking bass lines and slowly become more fluent in playing walking bass (everything for intermediate/early advanced bass players) ! Could you please do lessons like this? It would be awesome! You are a great teacher and thank you for everything! I hope you will do lessons like these ideas I gave you in this comment. WE WOULD LOVE THAT! Greetings from Poland, Mike :)

That was excellent. Expanding the arpeggios. Identifying the overlaps of the chords. Using inversions for voice leading. All within the minimalist approach to stay in the same area. Your style is wonderfully elegant. Glad I found you today !

Damn you! Yet another ill shirt! I curse tou Rich Brown, and your delightful shirt choices....and that was an eye/ear opener. I've never been in a situation where I have to "walk". I'm not a jazz player. I just jam riffs with my friends and write songs. Having said that, over the years, I realize how much that the lack of that rudimenraty skill has bit me in the tail, many times.
