I did not know it was that easy to give your Micra K12 a bit of eye surgery. My dealership did it last time. I heard toothpaste was good! Though I thought their eyes/headlights misted up inside rather than out. Very informative! Good for future.

Hi. Glad you liked the video. Yes toothpaste is pretty good at cleaning the headlights. You will need to wax them afterwards though for some protection.
The headlights can mist up on the inside too. I’ve done a video on how to remove that. 😜👍

I am watching this over in Spain as my old micra headlights are in a sorry state and I am heading home to Scotland shortly so after watching your video I shall get into it when I get back but did enjoy your video 👍🇬🇧

Great video. What kind of pad do you have on the sander? Thanks

Thank you. 👍. I use the green cutting pad first from 3M. With the cutting paste. I finish with a softer polishing pad. I think it was just an Amazon job.

Hi , great video ... How could i get the same result without a power polisher as i don't have one .. cheers

Thanks. I’ve had similar results just by hand but it just takes a lot longer. A good cutting compound helps. 😃

How long did this last for roughly?

The turtle wax polish and sealer helps to keep the lenses clear for at least a month or so. But if you top it up every time you wash the car they don’t seem to fade. 😎

A year has passed. You didn't protect the surface, please comment on how do the headlights look now: better or worse than before polishing?

When I use the turtle wax headlight restorer it protects the lights from fading. Have a look at my other recent Nissan Micra videos. You will see they have held up nicely just with regular polishing too.

What kind of chemical is that you sprayed initially?

Hi. I used a degreaser / panel wipe just to remove and dirt or polish residue. You can buy it from Amazon or Halfords. 👍

Looks good and cleaned up well but unfortunately it doesn't last very long at all. I've done all this with a nissan note, even the clearcoat way. Nothing lasts once they start to degrade unfortunately. I guarantee you will have to replace them sooner than you think. But good job tho.

They do fade I agree. But I’ve found if I polish them the same time as the car they seem to last longer. Then I just re polish them every couple of months to bring back the clarity.

Mine eventually ended up with crazy cracking all over , tiny cracks but everywhere and it just destroyed the beam and eventually failed mot.
I'm sure if you polish them up again, and clearcoat them now , they will last longer than mine. The uv rays will end up destroying the plastic as it did on mine. But I did the same as you , just sanded and polished them without replacing the clearcoat. I did clearcoat eventually but too much damage had already been done ..!!

@@JapsDmz I think they all go eventually. You can’t beat old school glass lenses to be honest. 😜

@@KyushaStyleTuning It depends on the plastic. BMW plastic doesn't yellow. For the micra, just polishing compound would work for me. The only time it really needs polishing is before MOT. Done one a couple of days ago and passed without polishing. The guy wanted my business and just pointed it out rather than adding it to advisory. He suggested a £47 restoration service that I rejected. I could polish it in 5 minutes by hand at no cost.

@@fungames24 I just polish the lenses each time I wash and wax. Seems to keep some of the yellow away for a while.

3 types of polish. Which is much cheaper than new lights and it isn’t my car so why would I replace them.
