    Thanks for the vid.
    Just changed an H4 headlight bulb on third attempt. As usual once you have done one, the next time will be easy. The main problem is removing the black socket from the rear of the light bulb before you remove the rubber gasket. The manual implies you should squeeze and pull backwards. I was assuming there were some tabs which need depressing to get it to release. There are not. It really is just a case of pulling it back firmly and the bulbs tabs just slot in/out. I found mine were really solid - three people all tried in vain. I had a closer look at the socket on line and once I realised there were no tabs to depress and no wiring to damage on the sides I used a plumbers wrench to grab the socket rear - couple of wiggles and back-pull and off it popped. Easy peasey - Why has no one mentioned this before? Please tell everyone - shout it from the mountains - no copyright
    Yes I am enjoying my cup of tea and biscuit victory moment.

      Yeah my missus lightbulb is out and it's just so hard to pull out. I was looking at the headlight bulb while trying to pull it out and i could see I was almost pulling the entire light bulb out with the connector. I gave up and will try again tomorrow

      When removing the connector, the bulb is held in place by a wire clip. I'm afraid that if I apply too much force, it will get strained and then it won't hold well. Am I right? I think this happened to me@@tio123ist

  • @kojowiredu

    Fixed mine today, thank you 😊. The wriggling bit is simply overcome if you pinch both sides together and just pull. It comes away in a second or two. Same goes for the clip that holds the bulb in place. Working space is very limited if you've got big ol' hands but it's all very easy 😂.

    • @Endfloat
      @Endfloat  9 місяців тому

      The problem is when the spade connectors are corroded onto the bulb. That's what the wiggling is for.

    Thanks mate. Got me sorted. Needed to know about the retaining clip, otherwise I'd have used a Brummagem screwdriver and ended in tears! Wonderful when something can be really simple to deal with for a change.

      Glad I could help. FYI, a lot of cars, particularly ones that use H4 bulbs use this method for holding them in. I got a chuckle about the Brummagem screwdriver comment!

    The glass will not crack, but it will become hotter and so wil the fillament in that region, which will eventually lead to melting. Nevertheless, the advice is good, don't touch the glass part of the lightbulb. Love your videos, watching them simply to relax and enjoy your way 🙂

    I cant pull the connector, my hand is big, cant grab it well. Tried prying with screwdriver , but only damaged the rubber seal. Thing is not coming off, i dont want to damage the lamp lol. The spade connectors can get corroded. If you can, get a small flat head screwdriver between the connector and bulb to pry it off.

    This is not correct for Australian viewers. For some reason the bulb is an H11, and there is no rear rubber boot, but a clip on cap, and the bulb itself has 2 retaining screws, not a spring as used in the H4. With minimal access, the only way I found was to remove the whole headlight. The hidden 3rd bolt can be accessed, with difficulty, via the wheel arch if you bend the black plastic downwards and wiggle your hand and a 10mm socket. Crap design!!!
