  • A quick overview of how to service a Nissan Micra K12 or Note E11.
These cars use the 4 cylinder CR range of engines. Available in 1.0, 1.2 and 1.4 litres. In this case the micra has a 1.2 and the note has a 1.4
Both cars are auction buys with no service history, they were running well but overdue a service so it made sense to give them both a service before selling them on.
It is a good idea to keep these engines serviced as they use a timing chain that is inclined to stretch if oil is not changed on a frequent basis. Other than that these are generally reliable cars that are fairly easy to work on. The spark plugs take a bit more time to get out than say a Toyota Yaris but with modern iridium plugs this is not something that has to be done too frequently.
Unfortunately the micra was pressurising its coolant system and it was determined it had a bad head gasket, so after this service i brought it back in and swapped the engine. That video will be out at some time in the future.

I hope you replaced the valve cover sealing as well after changing spark plugs because oil was visible in there.

If it was the micra it actually ended up getting a replacement engine, as the head gasket was gone on it. Dont think the note had a problem. I mixed footage between the note and micra getting serviced at the time.

Thank you for this great video, I have nissan note (like the one in this video) that burns oil and I was told that it could be the PCV valve. I would like to know the position of the PCV valve in Nissan note 2007 please

      Hi there
I believe the PCV valve will come from either the crankcase or the rocker cover and it will be a pipe that then leads from there to the inlet manifold/air cleaner assembly.

Is the shocks on the 2007 micra the same as the 2007 nissan note?

Not 100% sure to be honest. Have a look through www.catcar.info/en/ and compare the two cars for yourself. A local motor factor may also be able to advise. Its possible they are similar parts but it might be tuned slightly differently for the heavier note.

@@midoali293 Its a strange thing to leave out of an instrument cluster, back in the day you would have got the speedo, fuel gague and temperature gauge.
The rev counter was for the deluxe models. Now most models get the rev counter but the temperature gague on some cars has disappeared. It's still an important thing to have on any internal combustion engined car. All the micra and not have is a blue and red light.
It was a nuisance on this micra as it actually turned out to have a failed head gasket and was overheating, the only indication was the red light coming on. To view the coolant temperature with any more definition i had to use diagnostic equipment. The car knows the temperature to the exact degree but doesn't have the means to display it which is frustrating. I suppose the target audience of these cars when they were new perhaps were not too keen on knowing what the coolant temperature was.
