- PART 1 of 2 - Blenheim Palace , here they have a unique yellow zone which you must pay to unlock for flying. Along with the red airport zone. It made for a little background work and pre planning. Even with this done, the palace were having none of it.

*Blenheim Palace sits within Flight Restriction Zone for EGRU117 OXFORD, Therefore you cannot just take off as you suggested. This facility is UTM Ready meaning you can submit a request to fly in the zone prior to flying. But Approval is required to fly at all times*

How is it a rip off, they have to pay gardeners to maintain the garden. They have to pay staff to man the gates and pay for the conservation of the building. Yes they still live their and their not a poor family but they still have to maintain it
Whenever I visit Blenheim Palace grounds I always use the public footpath near Combe village, avoiding hefty gate charges. What these idiots don't realise is that they cannot trespass you from a public footpath.
I was going to mention this too, I always visit using the public footpath near Combe village.
There is a second legally protected public right of way from the road through the centre of Blenheim... They disguise it so it looks like the gate into.someone's garden but I've used it several times. Pass it on!

@@BlackNYella I stayed at nearby Bladon caravan site and often walked the dog through the grounds on the public footpath. Once they were charging for entry to a car show, but I entered via the footpath and obviously got in for free.

What this boils down to is that a bunch of people who just want to say "No" repeatedly come out with non legal nonsense about airspace that they have no control over. This one was particularly bad as they don't seem to have bothered to check that the local airport had been contacted. Waiting for the raft of lies and the ineptitude of the police to sort it out.

Imo anyway, don’t know for sure legally but think I’ll test it at some point and reckon an NT site or similar would em be a good one to test the theory - esp one with a public right of way through it

Of course, what you didn’t share were the comprehensive details on your video of the flight plan approved by Oxford ATC, so we don’t know whether the permission you received included an over fly of the palace. I understand there’s an inquiry underway as a result of your attendance at the palace and since Oxford ATC will know or be able to discover your identity, who knows what the consequences might be, if you haven’t dotted all your ‘eyes’ and crossed all your ‘Teas’.

There’s a misunderstanding in the video. All yellow areas are warning areas. There is no special law controlling drone flying in the airspace. But there is no right to fly a drone from private land. Blenheim do not control the granting of permissions to fly OVER their land (within the red zone) but they do FROM their land. In short, anyone can kick you off their private property whether you want to walk, picnic, fly drones or do anything else.
Unless he's on the public right of way of course.
How many times did he say he was going to use the public r.o.w.? Did you watch it with the sound off?

And you are also assuming that Blenheim Palace cannot remove unwanted individuals from its property notwithstanding the public right of way going through it. That’s a regrettable lack of knowledge and a dangerous assumption. Furthermore, no drone flyer (even with sub 250 gram equipment) can over fly crowds - the definition of which is basically any group of any size in any space whose movement is restricted in some way within the space. And then, again there are the VLOS rules (visual line of sight), which DJE media has already fallen foul of in Thames Valley and came within a whisker of having his equipment seized by a very knowledgeable police officer.
