The Mackie speakers get great reviews for music but they have a noise gate built in to remove hiss which means for cutting dialogue when video editing I suggest you try before you buy, at low output levels they will reduce any ambient sound between speech to silence in a very unnatural way.
I assume removing the hiss is better than the unbeleivable amount of hiss coming out of Presonus. I can't stand them. I am returing eris 3.5 and 4.5 because of high hissing.

Hello. I just forgot about any choices after discovered CR3-X in Green color limited edition. Ordered right away and today will be delivered. Will make a "unpacking" clip...
The Mackies have a terrible design fault with the LR switch block on the back, I've pulled them apart and it's almost impossible to repair at home, they ultimately fail. I've had to throw away 2 x pairs due to this. Now I'm using Presonus 3.5s all day every day and they are GREAT!!!
I'm on my 2nd pair of mackie CR3s with the same issue! They still work but it's annoying to toggle the switch back and forth and get it just right for them to work. So I'm looking for a replacement. Thanks for your thoughts.
I've got the crx 4 speakers. A lot of rubbish is talked about noise humming ect. It's no problem if you use TRS inputs. They are a bit heavy on the bass. OK for a DJ but maybe not a producer.
I think it would be cool if you did an update on these now that you have moved on to better quality speakers. 3 inch cones, even in a perfect enviroment, are not going to give a budding producer a flat response in the way they need.. they are nice speakers don't get me wrong.
