Takuma Sato vs Josef Newgarden vs James Hinchcliffe

one of the best last 5 laps of a race.
Sato was right on the edge here. He used the track layout to his advantage, as driving in a straight line cut off the inside line perfectly. So actually he didn't "block" per se, as he was just driving in a straight line.
Hinchcliffe just outmaneuvered him in the last corner.
Wow, that was great racing! Big respect for Sato, he tried everything he could, lost to a great manoeuvre and still applauded it.
I haven't seen much of Indycars in the last 5 years or so. They look.... different.
WAY TO GO HINCHCLIFFE!! You've done Canada proud :D
How proud I am to see this. One of the best finishes in IndyCar history
👋👋👋👋👋👋
I understand how indycar may not b some peoples favorite because compared to f1 it maybe isnt as innovative or something, but i dont understand how a race fan could hate IndyCar, its close racing and the battles r for the lead, not how in f1 the battles r more for points position than the actual race win. This is some of the best racing between drivers u will ever see
+Ethan Roebuck F1 is not innovative anymore.
@@mateagoston7113 Now it is
@@milesyuen3926 If you're talking about hybrid systems then there's nothing innovative in that. WEC did it first
Cant believe I missed this race... Interesting that GoDaddy still sponsors Danica but no longer Hinchcliffe.. I guess GoDaddy didn't like winning. Well done Hinchcliffe.
The didn't like having a business either it seems.
He wasn’t a semi attractive sub par female driver, that’s why go daddy didn’t want him.
beautiful finish, thank you for uploading, finally a video that doesnt disappoint his title
Bem q poderia voltar a corrida da Indy aqui no Brasil
sato didn't do anything bad I feel, using the race layout well to block legally, but he made a mistake in that last turn, locking up slightly braking too late, and hinchcliffe got him. you could see Sato congratulate him straight after the finish, but I am sure Sato would be peed off being in the lead and losing the race by his own fault in the last turn.
+kpcart Blocking cannot be legal by definition. Holding a line is legal, deviating from the line in order to stay in front of a faster car is illegal which is what he did several times.
miss indy formula when he was here in Brazil was epic
That was one of the best finishes in motor sports EVER!!!
Sato wasn't blocking.
Notice how when Newgarden and Hinchcliffe went to the outside Sato did nothing, but yet they tried the inside at the same spot every time where you need to turn ever so slightly to maintain your line. He was in the clear.
And anyways, blocking or not he was clearly the slower car. This wouldn't be a video if he had just let go of the lead at five laps to go.
Wow, all in with Indy car racing... what have I been missing all these years , damn.
Wow.That was some serious defensive driving by Sato.
Also really close to illegal in IndyCar
James Hinchcliffe is the best IndyCar Driver
Boa noite !!!!
Abraço do Brasil.....
Great stuff! As usual from Indycar.
i'm a fan of F1 and prefer it to indy, but it's much better than F1. beautiful cars, no KERS, no DRS just 1vs1 fights and amazing races
Wouldn't say they are beautiful, unfortunately spec. But the racing week in week out through the field is great. F1 has gotten better on track but the freaking DRS kills me. I'm good with push to pass as it has to be used strategically.
Indycar deserves a second chance from those that left after the split or the demise of champcar. I came back several years ago and I'm glad I did. More people, more sponsors would make a very good product great again.
Beautiful cars ? They are all the same and are at least 10 years late on aero.
TheUnPlayable in what way 10 years lat on aero? please explain, they are current to series rules, so how is that 10 years late?
Exact
kpcart Thhey are 10 years late on F1 aero. The sheer complexity of the front and back wings, diffuser, sidepods, etc.
"Ohhh, he is in the mayor's office!" 6:04
So basically according to these rules sato has no way to defend, he just has to drive in a straight line and let him pass
Yup. Gay
spazticus If he drove in a straight line he would have crashed at turn one. If you want to watch cars slice across others watch BTCC.
The current state of F1
supremacy. I said "uh" or "ah" on all of corner when I was watching it. true racing.
miss this track
Same
I wish Formula E should go in Sao Paulo
It took me about 10 minutes to come down from the high of that incredible finish. Amazing stuff.
I was watching this in live, was amazing!!
Even the finish of the 2013 Indycar race here is better than LoveLive Sunshine both seasons
WHAT A GREAT FREAKIN PASS BY JAMES HINCHCLIFFE!!!!!!!!
What the hell are they talk about Sato's Defensdrive, in my opinion was it fair he gives space and don't cross the line
I love this track!!! perfect race..
Sato moved like 10cm and this guy is dreaming about blocking... What a bullshit.
I really wish Sato won this race
Theres a slight audio delay but man i remember watching this live screaming my head off
thank you
Top 5 finish of all time
This race shows just how important it is to have a long straight on a road course to generate action
Definitely not now, which is a damn shame. It was a great race, great track, great people. If ever Sao Paulo can be on the calendar again, there should be absolutely no hesitation in accepting it.
wow great racing! Thats whats its all about!
Epic indeed!
It's so cool to me how you can see how Sato's car is running more wing than Hinch or Newgarden.
Nice track.
Merci p cette video
great finish
What a fantastic race!
Why do you say that? I think they do a fantastic job. They're my favorite IndyCar broadcast team since the 90s.
How the hell can anyone give this a thumbs down?
Why did IndyCar stop going to Brazil?
Bring back the IndyCar for brazil
You get one move in Indycar. Sato used about 4.
What are the times in the video for his 4 moves before one corner?
Show!!!
Way better then F1 !!!
I am really happy that race control didn't penalize sato. They backed off and let them race. That's how it should be.
What a race brill
Shame Sato was stuck in that Foyt car for half his Indycar career, he did things for Foyt that the team rarely had.
Man they need to get this race back on the schedule
Danica Patrick would be happy about that.
hell yeah
Sato was being very naughty lol. Hinch really earned and deserved that win.
Great indycar page on facebook if any of you are on there? Its called IndyCar Serious
SATO !! 🇯🇵
6:10 the leader list is wrong
No reactionary blocking? Is that corners only or is that in the straights as well?
Everywhere. You block someone on a straightaway on an oval you could kill someone in these car.
If race control did black flag for blocking, it would have been the end of Indycar racing.
Ratty Ratty Sato barely changed his line newgarden couldn’t pick a line to pass
amazing circuit.....why stop racing there......?.
i love F1 and prefer it to indy, but that was great
What is the “the push to pass”??
Can’t you just pass??
Is defending illegal in indycar?
Have you heard RadioLeMans?
Great racing in Indy Car and they still can't seem to get their shit together.
better than f1
The HELL are those commentators on about, if Sato had not moved back he wouldn't have made the corner, crashed and there'd a monumental pile up! Good racing, cool cars, but STUPID commentators!
+CultOfRevan98 I think the commentary is on an audio delay for some reason. I think they are referring to the move Sato made towards the inside wall to block, as supposed to moving back to take the corner.
Now, that's real auto racing.
This was on my birthday and Sato is my favorite driver! Lol disappointed.
Why can't you block in IndyCar?
car 5
why didnt they race at interlagos?
Ok this is the first time i'm watching this indycar thing. I was curious. But what the hell is race control?? The referees? And whats so wrong with what he did at 2:20 ?
Dear F1. If you penalise the race leader before the end of the race, you lose battles like this
Geez, Sato is dirty, nothing happened to him for blocking numerous times?
I can't find the moronic comment about why they don't run at Interlagos. They did. but F1 always has a fit.
if i recall the IndyCar organisers dont want the laptime comparison to F1 even though i dont think people really care that much. same reason Formula E decided not to run the full Monaco GP layout in the coming season
never seen indycar before. that was pretty awesome but push to pass sounds like a horrible rule
the fastest line around the track is outside inside outside. for that corner the green car would have gone to the right side to pass sato. sato moved over to guard the inside which is legal but he moved back over to block hinchcliffe which is illegal. and yes race control is the same as referees.
Sato=Dirty Racer.
That they were even reviewing the block is a problem. Let them be as aggressive as they want.
GENESIS G90
If they are going to run that shit across the top of the screen, they should ask the camera men to make allowances for it.
+Paulie Jay You mean at the end where they said Sato won lol
Formula 1 sucks compared to IndyCar.
LAD Fan FUCK U
+gabryelwanderley You leave LAD Fan alone! Formula 1 Does Suck than IndyCars.
F1 sucks because of the team differences, theres literally no RACING its just going round the track fast passing lapped cars for mercedes... At least there RACING in indy car
Indycar has shit drivers though.
Bruh
late on the call.. anti climatic
+chaja95 Still one of the best finishes ever, and probably #1 on a street course
IndyCar < F1
Sato was dirty all the time, universe law..
"Push to pass" is such bullshit. Sick of hearing of it. That includes "DRS" in F1. Drivers didn't need such gimmicks to overtake before, now babies seem incapable of passing without complaining endlessly about it and needing a crutch to help them along.
...and why aren't these cars racing at Interlagos instead of yet another cheap, ratty street circuit, as though Indy doesn't already have enough of those?
with f1 in the 80s they had essentialy the same thing, a boost button, and it worked. also it didn't feel gimmicky because they barely mentioned it when the drivers were using it. that's what indycar is doing now. they arent allowed to say if a driver is on p2p. I agree though, drs is a gimmick. I think it is because they limit it's use so much. only on specific sections of track are they allowed to use it.
+SuperSonicSenna The way the cars are designed to rely so much on aerodynamics is why the stupid P2P/DRS systems exist. Indycar, F1, and DTM are all at a crossroads with this problem. If a driver is stuck in dirty air, they can't go near as fast as someone who has the clean air. Yeah, they have the draft but the moment they stick their nose out for a pass attempt its like slamming into a wall of pudding. All those wing and aero elements turn into parachutes, so the car needs something to maintain momentum in order to attempt to pass. DTM uses DRS, F1 has Kers and DRS, and Indy has P2P.
+Treetop64 a classic comment from a man that doesn't understand the complexity of motor sports...
+Robert Douglas DRS in F1 no but yeah if you give a driver a certain amount of push-2-pass a race I think its exciting to see if they go for positions early on or save them for the end.
+ fidan2fast : classic comment from a man that start to watch racing from the 2000's
Indy > F-1
I understand the “gentleman’s” racing of Indy car, but I don’t get why it’s a bad thing to block. That’s racing, why can’t one block? If you can’t block, then you’re not racing gas hard you can
sato the worst racer in all of indycar vs Newgarden the best in the field
Sato has a win at Long Beach and at the Indy 500, one of them driving for a second-rate team. Newgarden has a championship after driving for the most dominant team in Indycar.
I'll agree that Newgarden is a better driver, but it's silly to write Sato off like that.
