    My father was a police officer most of his life, he retired, and a few years ago was killed in a hit an run crossing the street. One thing he would always tell me was if he could go back and do it over again, he would have been a carpenter, he always wanted to build things. This is what sparked my interest, and passion in woodworking. It’s been three years, and I’ve built some things I’m proud of, and some I want to redo, but it’s been a connection to my dad. We never threw a baseball, but he always took me shooting. I’m going to take some of your tips here, and make something that would have put a smile on my dads face, thank you.

    Me and my father had built our own gun cabinet out of a regular cabinet from a local thrift shop. We cut, sanded, stained, and assembled it. We had a great time doing it. It was one of the last projects I built with him before he passed from cancer in August of 2020.

    Love the short how-to videos. Roy is a natural. The bunny ears he's wearing in some of the gun cabinet shop scenes are pretty funny. We can't decide if he planned this mischievous appearance, or it's the camera crew playing tricks. Either way it's great. Maybe your producer can arrange to plant a few more subtle or not so subtle "Easter Eggs" in future videos.

    Very nice and inspirational video!
    Here in Austria we have to store our guns in a locked cabinet or a safe and all the commercial options within my budget look horrible, so I started thinking about building my own cabinet.
    And your video just gave me the inspiration to turn thoughts into plans and hopefully soon into a decent looking cabinet so I can finally buy and properly store my first pistol and rifle.

    • @fmgpubs

      I sure don’t see any reason you can’t put a keyed lock on the glass door! All success to your project! Roy

    • @yourlocaltoad5102
      @yourlocaltoad5102 Рік тому

      @@fmgpubs that’s what I thought too, but I will probably cover the glass with a opaque foil or add the option to place a opaque sheet of acrylic directly behind the glass so I can easily switch between a clear or opaque door.
      Just so I can prevent people from being able to see the guns when I leave the window open or when I have guests I don’t know too well.
      After all there have been a few cases where hysterical people called the cops after seeing someone’s (legally owned) guns through a window and I wouldn’t really want that to happen to me.

    • @fmgpubs
      @fmgpubs  Рік тому

      @@yourlocaltoad5102 Simply amazing they’d call the police. They’d better not visit here as they’d go nuts! Roy

    • @yourlocaltoad5102
      @yourlocaltoad5102 Рік тому

      @@fmgpubs Austria is a country with quite a lot of guns (800-900 000 legal registered guns and an estimated 1.7 million illegal unregistered guns), but we don’t see guns very often as only cops, military and some security guards carry their guns in public and hunters and sports shooters have to transport them in locked containers.
      So while most people don’t really care about such things, there are a few hysterical individuals who automatically assume that any gun they see in civilian hands has to be illegal or that the person handling it has nefarious intentions.
      A few years ago there was a case where a security guard forgot to take his gun off after work and people in the subway called the police because they saw the gun in his holster. The cops thought it could be a potential active shooter scenario and locked down the entire subway station, but eventually they just approached the guy who was completely unaware of the commotion he caused and told him to put the gun in his backpack.
      I doubt that these people would survive if they ever visited areas of the US where open carry is allowed.
