Thank you, thank you. I have some extra closet space and wanted a simple rack to put in a corner. I don' t need to display my rifles but don't want to leave them in the carry cases all the time. This is perfect. I may add a shelf or two underneath for ammo, etc. I'll also us a cable lock through the trigger guards. Keep up the good work.
This is simple enough,...so as I am in Canada, I am compelled by law to lock my rifles in a case like this.....This would be an easy enough job to do too. You've shown me the way to get started without a lot of expense, but still be able to 'show off' my rifles. Thanks.
I like it. Fast and inexpensive. I think it could be modified bt doubling it so there are two sides and you have two rows of rifles back to back. Need something like this for muzzle loaders
Nice and simple. I'm sure you can add a second notched board a few inches lower should you wan to put in shorter guns and it won't get in the way of the longer guns plus it will add strength.
I know what you mean, but I found a happy medium for both long C&R rifles and more modern mil rifles. 33" on the vertical boards is the magic number. It holds my Mosin 91/30 and AK74 just fine. And that spacer box idea is awesome.
Hey, just an idea... you can also drill some very small holes where your barrel sits in the half circle at the top and insert some small "super" magnets in each that will magnetize the barrel to the rack.
Nice video. Ony criticism I have is it would be nice for you to comment on measurements like height width of the straight edge marked for hole saw. But still very good video.
David . . . very well done. Simple elegance. You could use the same double hole drilling method to get a start on a horizontal gun rack as well. Then lay the boards on top of each other and drill a second smaller hole through BOTH boards, intersecting the first hole, thus creating a deeper notch to lay the gun in horizontally, and a "lip" projecting up to keep the gun upright and stable.
I've been thinking of building a easy gun rack for all my guns that will not fit into my safe and all of the gun racks ideas I seen yours or should I say 7.62x54R is far the best idea, the cheapest and the easiest to build. Thanks
Very nice simple design. Going to work on one myself. Would you recommend putting some sort of rubber or foam where the barrels hit the wood at the top?
Thanks, this is what I need for our deer camp! ...and to the guy from the UK who says we are one sick country; we I'm happy to live free unlike their system of slavery and life on the Dole...
I think the top board would have to be wider to allow for scopes mounted on rifles to clear the wall. Looks good for shotguns and scopeless rifles, though.
also, for those of you that are child safety conscious, a couple holes drilled in the sides and a good cable lock through the trigger guards would secure them from children :)
Great video, built one in about 45min for my daughters airsoft/ nerf collection. Would have been alot quicker but can't turn down that daddy daughter time building
Just an idea it is a well made rack but just for stability I would have added a piece of wood across the back center of it just to keep it from ever doing the side to side thing if it is ever impacted from the side. Not that your gonna be beating on it or anything but I am always a person who thinks of sturdiness and I like things to last for 20 years or more. But as I said it really is a nice rack.
Nice dude! I was wondering how to cut U's into the top board... I was looking for a jigsaw lol! I ended up just using a reciprocating saw and cutting V's into it instead. It works but doesn't look as nice.
You say you snapped a line about 1/2 way of a 1x12x28" piece of wood. That does not look anywhere near 6". Looks more like 3 1/2-4". Could you please clarify?
You should have put a board half fcb way up the back for bracing and.... then you can take old leather belts and drill them to the back board so that you can strap those rifles to the rack as well. I know it's not going to be moved but it just adds time to anyone just grab no going with the fire arm plus it looks (if they are customer guns ready for pick up) as if you care just a tiny bit more about the customers finished fire arm. Or in other words you appreciate your work a bit more so better on cost for you and appreciated by them when charged to them. Any how thanks for the ideas I'm doing the same right now as we speak to my office kmsl sdi student hooah
Why would you reverse the hole saw on the back side of the wood? The teeth still cut the same direction. Pretty sure harbor freight's "dull hole saw" would work just fine if you let it cut the way it's supposed to.
Great video! The only modification I will make is using the other half of the top rail at the bottom as a place to rest the stocks.
"Take a little bit of glue..............take a little bit of glue that ain't dried out" lol I feel your pain
Everytime......

I used a hole saw, cut several holes in line down the center of the board, and then cut the board in half giving me two boards with the half circles.
I was thinking of doing this! Glad it works. Going to do it now. Thank you!
thank you

Chris, That is an awesome idea. You are the reason I post this stuff, I have an idea, you make it thay much better.
I appreciate this... I used this to make my christmas gifts for my father and brother. IT turned out AWESOME! THNAKS
How wide is a "shelf board"? Dimensions are kinda important.
Thanks for the hole saw idea... I'm going to use your ideas and build a similar rack....
ya I was like what the hell is he doing with the holes?? LOL
Nice video. Ony criticism I have is it would be nice for you to comment on measurements like height width of the straight edge marked for hole saw. But still very good video.

What’s the measurement for line in the middle of the hole saw. The line you cut with the power saw? What’s that measure

Yes, give credit to the mosin guys - he is the one that thought this up. And I agree it is one of the easiest gun rack ideas I have found.
Perfect simple cost effective - thanks for sharing
Thank you! Need a rack for some old rifles and this is perfect!
1:20 Look on the left side of the board... a spider walks out from it
Thanks, I was wondering if I really saw that.
The key construction ingredient in any worthwhile project is employment or use of the KISS Principle. Very good video, Thanx
what is the hole saw size?
Great video i see it's an old video so prices now in 2022 for a single piece of plywood is$90usd
Very nice simple design. Going to work on one myself. Would you recommend putting some sort of rubber or foam where the barrels hit the wood at the top?
Felt I think is the ticket, glued on.
@@herrcobblermachen Thanks.
nice build. thanks for sharing! thinking about making a gun rack and i needed some inspiration!
Very nice. I love custom made things made at home for the home
Thanks, this is what I need for our deer camp!
...and to the guy from the UK who says we are one sick country; we I'm happy to live free unlike their system of slavery and life on the Dole...
Thanks Dave, very easy to follow and customize.
great video , been thinking of one for my air rifles the hole saw is a great idea.
Great video Dave! I'm redoing my own office and trying to come up with a rack myself to display some of my own stuff I don't keep in the safe.

Great video! I made one of these racks and it turned out perfect.
I think for my Lee's I would the notches a bit deeper so i could put a security bar in place if needed
How wide was that top board for the barrel rest? Great video! Building this this coming weekend
Just finished mine, thanks for the tutorial it was extremely helpful :)
I am so glad it was helpful, I'd love to see a picture of yours.
I sent you a pm to my photobucket account, turned out really well!
That is a good idea, I did not think of M4's when I made it and its to short for mine, I will have to look into this. Thanks
Looks great, functional, great job!
Is that a Radio Shack vintage 1980's Realistic 12V power supply in the background?
What size hole saw did you use there?
Great video, built one in about 45min for my daughters airsoft/ nerf collection. Would have been alot quicker but can't turn down that daddy daughter time building

But as I said it really is a nice rack.
How's the wall clearance behind for rifles with scopes or raised red dots?
I love it!!!! Awesome video; thank you so much for sharing this.
use velcro strips from Walmart for the hole padding to keep from scratching the barrel and buttstock finishes :)
Is that a Mossberg model 152 on the far right?
Nice idea! I may have to make one myself.
Great job. Bro.
Awesome video made one and it turned out great.
Just a quick suggestion- idk if you have a bandsaw or not, but at the beginning when you were using the wholesaw a bandsaw might've been easier.
i would add personaly swing lock 1x1 at the top just to make sure they dont fall out
Nice dude! I was wondering how to cut U's into the top board... I was looking for a jigsaw lol! I ended up just using a reciprocating saw and cutting V's into it instead. It works but doesn't look as nice.
Brilliant well done buddy
Thanks

Nice job
are these built with 1X12's?

Best homemade gun rack I've come across. What size hole saw did you use?
Thanks, I cannot remember off hand, but I think it was a 2.5 or a 3 inch hole saw.
Thanks for the share
I wanna buy this guy some clamps.
Didnt you have a hammer mode on?
How do I make a as cheap as humanly possible AR-15/M-4 mount for my 2001 Dodge 2500 ram?
Gilbert Jackson zip ties and bungee cord
Chase Stapley I don't think he took you seriously.
Great idea.
looks great
Awesome.. Freaking awesome.. Thanks for the video.. Keep up the food work brother.
nice, way to keep it simple for us simple minded lol. Like to figure out a locking system for this. ( spider )
Great video, thanks bud!
Good Idea, Thanks
can i please have the dimentions in metric cm
Handy! Thanks.
At 1:20 a spider in the bottom left makes an appearance.
Nice, Thanks!
Nice! and just a quick heads up, Hyezmar is allowing visitors to his website to get his woodworking plans for free, before he publishes them for sale.
Looks like you've got a Winchester model 1897. Maybe it's an 1893
Why would you reverse the hole saw on the back side of the wood? The teeth still cut the same direction. Pretty sure harbor freight's "dull hole saw" would work just fine if you let it cut the way it's supposed to.
to avoid splintering the wood when it exits
With the price of lumber, you should update the price. :D
NICE!
I went back and looked for the spider, Yep its a spider...LOL
nice project, couldn't stand the audio buzz though.
nice
Like... Very good!
shoot them guns proudly man. Rock on.
Awesome!
Would you check out my channel and my homemade 1911 I built from scratch, fully functional?
It took me 4 months and a half!
i'm building one for my KEYS club
oh man, your time comes with a price too.
Stick a 2 foot rod in the barrel of your AR15 and you can use the same rack
I would build an extra rack for it , so I have an excuse to tell my wife, hey my other gun rack is empty I gotta fill it up
The plans have left the internet, and the original guy isn't making them any more. A set of plans would be nice. Thanks.
You think those are 2x10 or2x12? Be nice if he would have used a tape every now and then!
Excellent work, now make one for me :)
of course 33" + or - ... doesn't have to be 33" exact.
gland someone else saw that
Thank you. I'll do the same 😂
I heard about woodprix instructions good opinions.
If you are looking for something like this, you will find it on the woodprix plans website.
$20....after an investment of thousands on a workshop and power tools, haha.
woodprix has very useful plans with all details I need
can I have your fal?
I don't see a FAL....I DO see a CETME though ;)
talk less work more dude
jesus man that fucking whistle you have going on in the audio of the video
What size hole saw?
