- ANTIQUE & POTTERY SHOPPING & OUR CHINA COLLECTION// Happy Friday! We went back to our favourite antique/vintage place in Stockport near Manchester! The Vintage Emporium is amazing and one can easily spend all day there which is why we always go back. We found something lovely for our attic so Joerg can enjoy a nice drink in the evenings. Our attic reveal will come soon, definitely next month!
And of course we visited our favourite place to shop for pottery/china: You know us by now, it's of course Burleigh Pottery. We use our Burleigh Pottery every single day and really love it because we think it makes every day so special! Last but not least we show you our china collection and also our very first china that we got for our wedding almost 29 years ago. We so hope you like the video! Have a lovely weekend everyone. I love how you are so particular about the things you buy and only get what you really like and don't get carried away by sale items etc.
After 35 yrs of marriage we finally let go of our crockery, passed on to a younger family member, who absolutely loves it. We gained more room in the cupboards, for more crockery. Haha! Love the Emporium.
You could donate your old wedding china to a charity shop….
@@annebalderston2520 but they gave it to a family member who loves it. Chances are, they will eventually pass it on and it will become a family heirloom. Nothing better than creating a sense of history for your family. ❤

I was fortunate to meet and work tea events with Lord Wedgwood when he visited the U.S. to promote his China. He was a lovely gentleman and very easy to work with as well.

We moved from Texas to England when I was a teenager back in the 60's. My mother discovered the companies that sold "seconds" china and bought several sets. My sister and I have inherited them and we just love them so much!

A long time ago I did holiday work in the offices at Portmeirion Potteries in Stoke (I was at uni in Staffordshire), and got to see all the different production processes on the factory floor.
I've loved china and ceramics ever since, but my hunting ground has been the humble charity shop, and my greatest triumph 24 items of Spode blue and white Italian design dinner-ware and cups & saucers for 30 quid!
The decanter and glasses are beautiful - a great choice.
Now that is a find couldn't have been there for long before you got to them

Oh my goodness, the wooden pencil case took me back. I had one when I was 9, back in 1960. It had a Little Red Riding Hood scene on the top lid. I wonder what ever happened to it? As for what I think about your wedding dinner set, well, I say use it. We got a beautiful Noritake dinner set for a wedding gift. It's 43 years old and just sat in the china cabinet, then one day a couple of years ago I thought I may as well use this as my girls probably won't be interested in it, so I use it regularly now and too bad about how expensive it may or still might be. I'm going to enjoy it and it brings me happiness to think of my mother's sisters and brother who gave it to me with love. They are all gone now.

It's funny, isn't it: your wedding china is nice and stylish with unusual colours but somehow, when you see it after all your recent acquisitions, it strikes a false note. The examples of black patterned crockery at the end of the video seemed more complex and a richer experience. They gave me more pleasure seeing them.
I think the shape has so much to do with, if the plates and saucers were just round that would be so nice.
Just wanted you to know that since I introduced my husband to your channel he's always looking to see if you have a new video up yet. Watching today and I had to step out of the room while you were showing the China, as I reentered the room he said "Look how pretty that plate is" lol What have you two done to my husband? 😄😊 I love that he loves you two as much as I do!

It’s so lovely buying Antiques and Thrift items because they have already been used and loved and your carrying this on. So much better than buying new, which are usually not well made and far more expensive! It’s also great for this planet of ours ❤️
Joerg look so dapper in the top hat. He looked like he had stepped out of a period drama! The little decanter and the two little glasses were so delicate looking and will look lovely in your home. I have spent many an hour (and much money) at Burleigh. The surrounding area around there always looked so derelict but when I was last there they had been renovating some of the workers houses opposite the pottery. You are right to use the china very day and enjoy it and not just bring it out for special occasions. Hope you both have a lovely weekend.
He really did, I thought so too haha. Yes, the area is quite derelict, it's a shame, a lot of people there are unemployed now but it used to be such a busy area. Yes that's true, they renovated the houses opposite the pottery, looks quite good.

I only drink black tea at lunchtime because I am sensitive to caffeine. I use my fanciest cup and saucers because thats what I enjoy too. I always use a teapot, never a bag in the cup. I love your burleigh ware.

I enjoyed seeing your china and think it is unique that you have so many different patterns. As for the Villeroy & Boch in the lower cabinet, it is quite lovely and the colours are beautifully subdued. Do use it, especially when you have guests, as you have all the needed pieces.
The Villeroy and Boch service certainly looks very nice on a table with a damask tablecloth and matching napkins, crystal chandeliers and beautiful cutlery. The new dishes the bought are more English country house style - nice too.

Loved the video enjoyed every part. Loved what you bought at the antique shop. Your china is stunning and yes you should use it whenever you want. When I was a young wife and mother I would save things for special occasions only but now that I’m older I realize why do we save things use it everyday and make everyday special.

Japanese Phoenix pattern, your unmarked blue bird cups. It was very popular in the states, older ones marked Nippon that were imported into the states. An entire service was used in the bio-pic of J.D. Salinger, a few years ago. I'm happy you use your things.

Just love the Georgian decanter, so beautiful and I thought an excellent price, quite a find. I think your expanding collection of china and pottery is just lovely and your wedding gift china, I would still use, love the design and colours and it being octagonal I think is timeless. I have a vintage Wedgewood pergola design set that I love to use :-)

We love to shop antique shops too. Lots of memories in places like that. I'm always amazed when I see an item from my past and its considered an antique! My husband Raymond says "well we are antiques since we're both in our seventies! Now how did that happen!? Loved having another peek in your China closet. Take care and carry on. 🤗

Although our beautiful country (Canada ) is part of the British Commonwealth , it is just a teenager in comparison to the age of the U.K. , so when you're going antiquing I can't wait to tag along . Our choices of places to shop here for treasures is very limited . And I must say that the most unforgettable name of an antique shop I ever visited was " Dead Peoples Stuff " .....I love the way you treat each item with admiration and great care . Thank you for the tip - we have a antique venue entitled the vintage emporium where I live here as well - 45 different vendors with an additional warehouse in nother location. Always lovely to hear both your soothing lovely voices - God bless you. I have EXACTLY the same small crystal glasses - I bought it from a yard type sale in one of my old neighborhoods - set of 3 which belonged to somebody's grandmother - literally ditto to what you showed. We love you guys - and you have it exactly right - those small things - using a beautiful vintage piece of treasured china is what life is all about - it's what makes up the small beautiful moments in life and is soooo necessary - you both have it bang on right. They're not just things per se, there's a lot behind it and it is respect for the beauty and goodness in life when you incorporate them and use them in rituals.
I've become convinced after watching so many of your videos and a couple of others that enjoy their tea time with a beautiful cup, that I have to find one for my husband and myself. He gave up coffee about a year ago, and has mentioned a couple of times after watching these, that tea time would be a good custom to start up!!! I love it when you take us antique and china shopping with you.
Luvv anything antique....quite pricey..even here in the states..but I have to admit something...some videos back when you were shown your Burleigh pottery ..those beautiful cake plates your served cake on..but that jumbo tea cup and saucer that was those Black asiatic pheasants design...I fell in love instantly...so..I hunted a company down here in the states and found them. The website is called Replacements LTD..in North Carolina USA....😊..Well needless to say I spent a small fortune..lol!..they sell replacement china and retired designs..I've purchased the Black asiatic pheasants soup or salad dish bowl..very shallow soup bowls..and they were from Johnson Bros.England 1883..number 51 earthware..a member of the wedgewood group..I got 4 of them plus cups and a different pattern for salad or cake plates..they are black background with tiny white flowers all over the plate..on the back it says Royal Stafford made in Burslem the heart of potteries England ...I'm soo happy you showed your beautiful collection..I'm just starting out..but so happy. I got them and use them everyday...That vase is gorgeous with those delicate beautiful flowers 🌹..I truly admire your taste in everything..makes me feel a little closer to England..lol!..And I must say with all due respect and intent that Mrs.Potts from the Disney movie "Beauty and the Beast" would be very proud of your China cupboard...❤🥀🌹🍽☕😊💕
