As a huge fan of Airships Conquer the skies, and an enjoyer of a niche anime called Last Exile that features some really neat airship combat, this is dangerous :)
Steampunk 3d Highfleet game? Sounds rather amazing. 13:13 "It might as well be steam-powered" My good sir, given the fact that most of our power is generated by boiling water through various means, it's safe to say that it is.
This game looks like a ton of fun! Semi realistic naval gun ballistics, and fire control? You don't hear a game developer talking about badass ideas like those everyday... The video was great, very informative and love your sense of humor. Archer, lol, love it. And I'm subscribing so I don't miss that demo you're teasing us with, which absolutely needs be a thing! PS, please never destroy the original gameplay dynamics by adding something like aircraft carriers to your game, or if you do, please don't make them unfun to play against op nonsense like World of Warships did!
Thanks! We definitely passed 100 subs, we'll try to get it out early in the new year. And regarding aircraft carriers, we'll almost certainly never have conventional airplanes, but lore wise, we have what are basically sky cavalry which fill that roll, so they might make an appearance further down the line. But fear not, they'd act very differently to WoWS.
@@BeforeTheDeep Can't wait to try it out. And just the fact that you acknowledge how Wargaming implemented carriers is suboptimal gives reason to be encouraged! From what you've shown us so far, it's clear you have a unique vision for Before the Deep, and I'm here for it.
UA-cam recommended me this video, with me never having heard of this game before. Sounds really cool though, steampunk-airship Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts. Also reminds me of a game I played in my childhood the name of which I can't recall but it was about aircraft-carrier airships fighting each other.
I'm a big fan of that series! Civil War is in my top three strategy games. Dreadnoughts had a 10/10 ship builder, but wasn't too keen on how they did the campaign. Skies of Arcadia maybe? I've not actually played it, but it's come up before.
@@BeforeTheDeep After a lot of searching I figured it out. It was Air Power from 1996. Wikipedia has this excellent description: "Air Power is a fantasy flight simulator involving dirigibles." and "In 1996, Computer Gaming World declared Air Power the 9th-worst computer game ever released."
@@Vertimoo Ah, that's slightly before my time, I played a lot of Rowan's Battle of Britain from 2000 though. That was probably a very early seed of a love for all things that fly. Hopefully we'll avoid that particular title, or failing that, go for the top 3!
This is looking great! Maybe add some large floating whale creatures, hub cities, and floating islands + tall mountains to break up the horizon and add extra maneuvering and obstacle gameplay and you have one heck of a banger! EDIT: Never mind, after watching some of the earlier stuff, apparently most of this is already planned, along with potentially even dragon-like creatures instead of aircraft scouts and fighter planes. This is AWESOME!
Thanks! We've actually already got a lot of this covered, check out the "Making Of" video we put out, you can see some early versions. Not sure if floating islands will make it in, but we definitely want to give the player things to fly around!
@BeforeTheDeep How about realistic gun rotation speed and the likes, sort of World of Warships style where it takes time to get it on target after a sudden change? Seeing how in-depth you went with all the physics, range-finding and the likes, I imagine it might also be already in the game or planned for later? And lastly, how do I follow you and your progress? Is it just here for the time being? I'd hate for the YT algorithm to change its mind and me end up forgetting about this awesome game...
@@bitw00f Recoil and gun rotation speeds are already in! Although we want to return to recoil in future (Better UI, realistic delayed triggers etc). Good question! At the moment it's just here, but we're hoping to start a discord server in the coming weeks with news etc, so keep an eye out for now! Regarding getting on Steam, that'll come a little later. We want to get things a little more polished first, but soon (TM)! In the mean time though, the playlists on this channel are a good place to go! Can explore some more of the world.
How the hell does one stumble across what looks to be my dream game from a dude with 100 subscribers? Hopefully in a few years after it gets released I'll be able to say I was there
Hopefully, (being the operative word) you've just got in early. Ultimately, it's our dream game too, and we weren't about to wait for someone to give us permission to make it!
I haven't found a good airship game since Guns of Icarus unfortunately faded away, so even though it's a different genre of game it's still nice to see another one coming along
Well yes but actually no. We won't be adding a full build system, but you can customise the hull and internals to make battleships. Although, heavy ships like that aren't practical. Logistics is really important, and a ship like that uses a hideous amount of coal to stay aloft.
By golly, I want to play this, and all the jokes and clips aren't overdone. Truly a poggers video!

Highly underrated show!, the first battle was a big influence on how we wanted combat to feel!

Highfleet's great! Really love their campaign UI design.
I might go all the way and run it off a coal boiler for added immersion.

Should definitely replace all the shell models in game with those sea shells

Extremely.

This is what I stare into the void thinking about.
How do we bring this game to Splattercat's attention? This looks like something he'd really enjoy and hopefully feature on his channel someday.
If it's his sort of game, then maybe he'll make a video about in future when we're more set up?

Technically, hoofed animal

Can you add a flying aircraft carrier?
Not quite. As a lore rule we won't have conventional aircraft, but we've got the flying equivalent of cavalry.
