One of my pet peeves (no pun intended) with some SCP articles is when the author unnecessarily redacts important information in the special containment procedures, rendering them completely useless for containment. I think people recognize that the occasional redaction adds a bit of mystique to the article but then they get a little crazy with the black sharpie.
I was looking for someone else to say something. Occasionally it's fine when it makes sense, but at some point it's too much and instead of adding an element of mystery, it's just plain annoying.
Yeah I agree, this is one of those ones that fell victim to the redaction trope.
Mainly being the author was too lazy to name anyone or anything and just used Redacted as a lazy way of getting round it.
This is a Series I SCP. This was common back then, not so much anymore.
didn't someone write an scp that just redacts random things in documents in the scp database/organisation? clearly a victim here.
Agreed. Redaction should only happen when it makes sense like the article has to mention a specific place, date, individual/group and top secret technology for an extra level of security.
Forget the zombie cat, those cats behaving like a hateful hive mind is a SCP phenomenon itself, imagine a bunch of cats getting so mad at you that they literally create a zombie avatar as a way of expressing their hatred.
They don't even give a f*ck if they get sick or drop , it's all for the cause with these critters.

I really liked that twist at the end, it's so clever to simply reverse the source and affected subject of the anomaly and completely change how it works, it also explains why it is so dangerous.
I feel a little conflicted about it, on one hand it’s really cool but on the other it’s so…uncomfortable, like I can’t really see cats in the same light even though I know it’s just a story…I just can’t. Call this one a cognito hazard cause god do I wish I could unlearn it.
@@RailgunGoBoomBoom Cats would eat you alive if it wasn't for the fact you feed them. Get hundreds of them all together, and when they're all hungry because you couldn't bring the kibble, the autopsy report is gonna say "died to natural causes", but everyone will know that isn't true.
You and your couple of cats, not much of an issue, they probably wouldn't try to eat you while you're still alive.
And that's what makes crazy catladies scarier than even addicts. They can sleep surrounded by things that would shred and eat her if it wasn't for food.
This SCP is just a step up, where the cats of a crazy catlady create a diseased cat demi-god.
@@raspiankiado JUST WHEN I HAD FORGOTTEN ABOUT THiS, REALLY MAN!?
@@raspiankiado
Cat will literally bring you food because they're worried you don't eat enough. Unless you're talking about starvation conditions, in which case every species does terrible things in starvation conditions. Look up the Holodomor for the human version.
Cats might try to eat you in starvation conditions, or play with you until you expire if you were small enough and didn’t put up enough fight and they didn’t recognize you, but that goes for most domestic animals that can eat other animals. Nothing particularly shocking there, bad conditions and nature at work. But it isn’t like cats are just thinking “man, I’d love to try the human’s flavor but this Cheap Generic Brand of Dry Cat Food is just. SO good, I’ll let them live.” They regard you as family, not food, and they want you healthy and happy as can be because they love you. They often see humans as their mom, or their siblings, or their kittens. Depends on the cat and circumstances.
If a cat eats a dead human body, that’s usually because they really don’t have any other options. They aren’t really scavengers either, but one does what one must.
Cats in the scp universe never get a break, either their but is in another dimension, or a tiger in disguise, or secretly made out of bugs.
That because cats are made of pure evil.
Variety is the spice of life
I mean pretty much nothing and noone gets a break in that universe.
Isn’t there one that bends reality, turns humans to cats?
U forgot about being a taunt from an scp puppy killing game (game brings up a cat when u say u want the dog to live)
Edit: just remembered that the red lake also had 2 cats appear from that one made from ice and one of lava. I thinks that's all the anomalous cats so far
Well then, I think this is just about the perfect degree of disturbing. This might be one of my new favorites.
BRB, I'm gonna take a very long scalding hot shower.
I'm on the opposite side of the fence. Other than creating a cannonical explanation for the "Crazy cat lady" trope, there's a lot of holes in this SCP doc. What is the purpose of the zombie cat? If removing the SCP causes it to self destruct, why not choose to play whack-a-mole and destroy instances as they reconstitute, instead of supplying the SCP with more cats which themselves become anomalous? Why not simply quarantine any building with an infestation, and incinerate it and make up cover stories for the fire?
This SCP just seems half baked to me.
@@sirdinkus6537 I mean, that's a lot of series 1 SCPs.
@@OhhCrapGuy this one just seems to leave out all the logical experimentation that the foundation typically does. Why and how did they figure out it should be crazy people who are required to live with the cats? Honestly, anomalously strong housecats doesn't seem like the sort of thing they'd be too cautious to run tests on.
I feel the same, like this one suggests cats may themselves be anomalous under certain conditions which is a problem considering there is like a billion of them.
My Dad once told me a story about an old cat lady who lived around him in Ohio during the seventies and eighties. She had so many cats living in and around her home in the country that you could never count them all. She never went into town for anything, but every time you went past her house, she was always grilling something.

I like the little ones like this too, besides all the unnecessary redactions. An scp doesn't have be an end of the world type to be scary and creepy. We need more just "weirdo" scps.
@@blueismylove3128The vast majority of scp entries are tame (Destruction wise) and "The weird ones" though. I feel like everyone who says they're fed up with "world enders" actually hasn't looked at the wiki. They're really not as common as you think they are.
@@somenerd510 the 'weird ones' tend to have boring/less eyecatching titles and so people gloss over them, especially when theyre lined up with thousands of other entries, so its probably internal bias in a lot of cases; they read the ones with more extravagant titles, so they think that the boring ones are similar.

when you pspsps into the void:
One of my favorite old SCPs, dangerous and freaky but still super unique, not overpowered or too convoluted. Remember listening to this for the first time On EastSideSCP years ago.
See I like the old school SCPs like this. It’s creepy/gross but it’s something that could theoretically be hidden away somewhere and nobody notice. I don’t really like the later series SCPs cuz there’s way too many world ending, existential over-the-top SCPs that they have to start breaking off into different timelines. And the writers want these XK SCPs to have already destroyed the world so they have to put them in a different timeline or put them in a possible future. It just gets to be too much. 🤷🏻♂️
Some world ending is cool but they can get stale easily. Evil creatures that can be everyday horrors are actually terrifying because they're somewhat more real life like
I had a little black basement cat, but she was a good cat, just afraid of lots of things. After ma died I had to keep her out of the basement since she was afraid of me as well, until she finally got used to me, then she was a cuddle bug. About a year later she got sick and was very slow and stiff, then when I took her to the vet I found she was at least 17 year and wasn’t sick, just old. She only lasted a few more weeks before collapsing in an unresponsive state except for breathing. She couldn’t even close her eyes by then so had to have her put down but held her till she stopped breathing. Actually I don’t think I want to watch this anymore. Someone’s cutting onions…
I like these older simpler SCPs. The ones today seems to be more about lovecraftian doomsday scenarios.
or off-brand harry potter or marvel stories
There’s plenty of newer ones that are simple but they aren’t focused on.
@@Prodigi50 Yeah, that might very well be. I tend to focus mostly on the ones covered by content creators like Volgun, and especially Exploration series. The latter of which has stated he intends to focus less on SCP going forwards due to less viewers in recent times. Idunno, I like the older videos, but I don't have time to go through a 3-6 hour epic every week.
I remember when trying to write a lovecraftian doomsday scenario would have gotten you laughed off the site because it was so 'boring'. Does anyone else remember the old tale where Cthulhu applies to be an SCP and gets turned down?
Everybody is always complaining about the doomsday scenarios, but I've always really enjoyed the large-scale worldbuilding projects. I'm still eagerly awaiting more entries to the Kaktusverse, for more information on how the SCP relates to the three-pronged army and the Abominate, and all those things. There's a department of unreality SCP that is pretty normal, aside from it's existential limbo.
These may not be an end of the world scenario but this is a barely contained anomaly with an unknown spread mechanism that can pose a significant risk to humanity. Under the new risk system I'd personally put this at Unrestricted (since its useful for more of the foundation to be able to recognize the signs of occurrence in the field) Vlam (Since its most likely gonna plateau at effecting a given area for a while) Keter (since its hard to contain due to unknown spread and impossibility of capturing them for containment under known methods) with a danger level of Warning (since, ultimately, its a swarm of feral cats with some nasty diseases they got, they are dangerous, can kill, and can create rather horrifying swarms, but you could put a person in platemail and they'd be fine aside from disease risk, and the foundation can probably make a set of hazmat platemail or something better that just has to stand up to some particularly nasty cat claws). That said, the moment a proper containment plan is reliable enough, they'd get downgraded to Euclid again on their containment difficulty.
Give the agents flamethrowers to deal with the cats
I'm sure they've tried flamethrower before, the SCP Foundation has no reason to not use countermeasures to these threats. The outcome of using said flamethrower however may have had more of a negative impact than not.

What an utterly revolting monster. Thanks for another vid to ride out the night with :)
I'm with the MTF guy, jack this thing up to Keter. It's technically not the most dangerous thing, but it seems very capable of altering human minds near it, obtaining more 'biomass' on its own, can apparently relocate whenever it wants, cannot be contained in a proper Foundation site, and can act very hostile under seemingly unpredictable circumstances. That's a Keter. A low-end Keter maybe, but still a Keter,
I feel like this one falls apart for me when the guy says "they made it because they hate us", there's nothing to really indicate why he would understand that, and none of the events really point towards that conclusion.
You could rack it up to a nonsensical statement made from possible trauma endured from the incident.....but that's just me

When cuteness becomes humanity weakness to an epidemic of unclassified keter anomalies
I think one of the things I enjoy most about the SCP foundation episodes, is how they talk when describing the anomalies that are being discussed. The jargon used is especially cool in my opinion, when it's delivered with a bland and really dry sounding tone of voice...like that of Dr. Miller

Keter is technically only applied to things that can't be contained or very loosely contained if I remember correctly. If they stay in one place and don't make much of a fuss under the containment guidelines, then euclid seems appropriate.
ahh good old silly "Monthly Termination" references for Class-D from the old days.
@James possibly I can't remember exactly how it was dealt with once folks realized (or rather accepted) how completely dumb it was to think that terminating all D-Class every 30 days was actual a sustainable thing that made any form of logical sense.
