    ABOUT…
I am Rebecca and I am one heck of a passionate vocal coach/singer/songwriter/impressionist/health/fitness/self- improvement/anything that makes me smile!! I love anything vocal/singing related and geek out on it every day. I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well maybe but it’s true. So what’s motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2017 and my ovaries and fallopian tubes. The tumour was the size of a 20 week baby!! However, despite not being able to walk for a couple of weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn’t an easy time but I won’t let fear dictate my life. I didn’t think ‘why me’, there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it’s not always smooth sailing. It’s true when you hear, ‘Life is short’, the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and practice gratitude everyday…It’s so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…?
Also thank you for all your support. It means a lot.
Subscribe to Rebecca Vocal Athlete to get inspired by new videos!
    Have a great day!!

The 'Immigrant Song' is driven start to finish by the late, great John Bonham who not only was the engine of Led Zeppelin but was the foundation, along with John P Jones, upon which Jimmy Page and Robert Plant could create their soaring performances. Although Ms. Rebecca did not call out the percussion explicitly, she was moved by the rhythm and syncopation at key times that led her to make observation of how great they were as a band. Props also to Ms. Rebecca for calling for due respect for these artists that created leads and harmonies, live, in the days prior to autotuning technologies (and similar in regard for preceeding the myriad of analog and digital guitar effects that are today as "necessary" to even a basic gig or practice session.) The live recordings and film of Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Beach Boys, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Yes, T-Rex, King Crimson, CSN, BÖC, Scorpions, The Who, Queen, Rush, Genesis, Earth Wind & Fire, Iron Maiden, Boston, Styx, BTO, AC/DC. Chet Atkins, Glen Campbell, Santana and so many others that set the high-water mark as they followed in the footsteps of the earliest recorded masters of blues, rockabilly, jazz, country, r&b and rock -- without all of the technology and recording / performing advancements we take for granted in the 21st Century. As the decades pass and these artists are no longer with us, these recordings will further elevate them well beyond the legendary status that they rightly hold today. "How possibly were they able to create these wonders ... back then, with so little in the way of gear and tech," will become even more pertinent. In the end, the art that was created stands in greatness on its own -- as an almost timeless testimonial to these incredibly talented, gifted musicians and vocalists! Those who keep the art alive by listening, playing, singing, or teaching are the real winners in the long run -- by enjoying and sharing music as part of their lives. 😉 ♡ 🎶

Jason Meinhart the reason they were able to produce this without all the technology they have available today is that they actually had talent.
These days it is very much style over substance.

    • @cultosaur262
      @cultosaur262 5 років тому +10

@@rosemarie575 There is likely more to it than flash or style, but I take your point. It seems to me one can observe progress of musicians from the earliest recordings (whether they were formally trained in music or not) across most of the 20th Century. The progress made during this time was not solely due to technology like the electric instruments and the dawn of the record industry. It seems that fundamental skill developed (formally or informally) via wrought practice and refinement created the foundation that gave performers of the past ample steak as well as sizzle. More recently, as you say it may be more style than substance although it seems nearly to develop much in substance without 'paying the dues' and putting in the time. The technology and distribution today removes much of the push to refine compared to decades as there are fewer obstacles between musician and consumer.

Nobody could ever fill Bonzo's seat, including Jason. Those 4 men came together and created magic. That magic could only be done with Page, Plant, John Paul Jones and Bonham playing together.

Great reaction to one of the most awesome songs by one of the greatest bands. And of course this style of music was revolutionary at the time as up til then no-one had heard anything quite like it. I'd recommend listening to Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath for the same reason and bear in mind that when it came out the songs in the charts were things like LOVE GROWS (WHERE MY ROSEMARY GOES)
by EDISON LIGHTHOUSE, LEAVIN' ON A JET PLANE
by PETER, PAUL AND MARY, TWO LITTLE BOYS
by ROLF HARRIS, ALL I HAVE TO DO IS DREAM
by BOBBIE GENTRY & GLEN CAMPBELL, SUGAR, SUGAR
by ARCHIES, RAINDROPS KEEP FALLIN' ON MY HEAD
by SACHA DISTEL, etc! Sometimes the way revolutionary music affects subsequent music makes us forget how shocking and awesome it was at the time of its release!

@@ArthaxtaDaVince777 that's the beauty of music...one song (or band) can grab ahold of a person's soul while someone standing next to them is unaffected by it.
While I agree that you can toss any number of tracks under the heading of "Song That Defines Led Zeppelin" and make a good argument for any of them, Kashmir holds a very special place in my heart and in my soul. It's a song I can listen to when I need some energy, when I'm depressed or when I'm happy and excited. It's a song that I catch playing over and over in my head when I am trying to focus on a problem or when I'm simply bored and zoned out.
I guess it's a song that defines Zep for me. I can only hope that you have a Zeppelin tune that does the same for you. They were a magical group.

Ultimately the way you learn to listen to music when you try to emulate or create your own is the same from singing, to guitar, drumming, saxophone or making beats on a computer. Once you really hear music you can't go back to a flat experience.

Thank you for "getting" this. It moved me to see you feel what was going on with these guys. When I read that you were a vocal coach, I assumed your focus was going to be on Robert's performance. But Jimmy Page performs with the same melodic reach and depth as a singer and it hit you. The tension and release, building, climbing to soaring then resolution. it's all the stuff of great music, transcending genres. And of course, John Paul Jones lays down complex and driving bass that's ferocious. And while the beastly power and skill of John Bonham can never be understated what gets less attention is how melodically in step with Jimmy he is, in nearly all of their music. It was an incredible band, the likes of which have never been repeated.
