Five years later this is still helping out. Thank you for this timeless content brother 🙌🏽
Been thinking the same been watching 5-6 year old vids and really been helping out
I just did this job today on my predator 212 and I was wondering why no one has made a detailed video on this. well done!
Ya same here
I got my first mini bike today at the age of 30 and I've been working on a predator 212 to install on it. I can't thank you enough for your channel this is incredibly helpful.
It's a blast! Glad I could help!
Thanks Greg! I have been watching your show for a long time but just got into fixing up some old mini bikes. This video really helped with the final puzzle of how to retain the stock linkage after the governor delete.
Thanks you so much for the video! I added a new carb and had no idea what to do--your video showed me precisely the steps I needed to take and it worked flawlessly.
For anyone needing replacement linkage rod wire , I use .080 bicycle spokes , any bicycle shop has these.
I wish I could give more than one thumbs up! Fantastic video. Exactly what we needed.

loving the leg lamp bro!!! thanks for the tips too, routing my throttle now.
Hello again red beard... thank you for a great instructional video on that throttle linkage, that will be very useful when I delete the governor out of my motor. also I have to say I love that video clip of drifting the go-kart around the corner in the snow.... that is freaking awesome!!!
Thanks man. We appreciate your support
I just did my gx200 and this video helped me a ton. Thank you 🙏🏻
Great video I always enjoy your content. I bought a few extra rods for practice, I got it down pretty good. Thank you.
Love all the videos!!!!! Couldn't do this without you!!
Thank you was looking for detail explination!! Great video
Just finished my gov. Removal, air cleaner and jetting up grade. Oh and torque converter up grade on my Dingo. Thanks for the inspiration.
+Brandon Andrew no problem man
I did this today on my son's mini bike works like a charm thanks
Just what I needed as well! thanks dude...
Parabéns pela dica, você é muito bom.
Thank you, I learned something here. Now to mod my son's kart.
Thanks. You. Very. Match
@@youcefyoyo1009 you do not know your grammar
Far out this video count not of got any better. Thanks mate
Thanks again very informative.
This helped so much lol thank you!
RBG I love that you are teaching the masses!!
But, i got a faster to respond method, if anyone needs an alternative to this tutorial.
If I could post a pic, you'd understand QUICK-- but...., if you drill through the top of your butterfly, run your cable through that hole, pinch it with a nut/screw from the original throttle mechanism, arm it with a return spring from og mechanism, and mount a cable housing pinch (cut from original mechanism) on the shroud ,in front of the carb.
Throttle will be straight to carb, no lost movement or response.
Thanks!! Looks good and works good.
Great job explaining everything.

This video helped a ton! Thanks
Yo red beard I’ve been watching you for awhile now I came back to this video for the throttle measurements but the link is dead when I click on it
I just bought a 212 predator had this removed already so was wondering how would this work thank you so much
Hey great video, I noticed we have about the same back drop for videos, I gave you a shout out in my last video keep up the great work.
Well man thanks for the shout out and thanks for watching.
Great video! Helped me a lot, thank you
thank you dude!
My god I watched more crap videos on this subject after governer removal and yours explained it clearly to make own linkage I did this years ago just couldn’t reminder how lol
Same type of linkages on the top of my 13ph Briggs and Stratton. Id like to leave the governor in though. How would i go about linking that up?
Thanks for the info, works great for me
Excellent explanation. Thanks
Thank you helped me get er done again
Good INFO, the pic should make it easier for those that NEED it.
Nice lamp ya got there in the background 😎
Awesome demo!👏👏👏👍👍👍
Thankyou,,great video instructions
How do you add like a throttle lever or something for example if you were building a go-kart or minibike?
Thank u very much for your experience
Worked great for me 🤘🏿
I cut off the other end of the rod so then I only have to do a single 90degree bend. I also just hook back into the factory hole that the rod came out of on the throttle arm. You do it the HARD way!!! lol.
Love your videos! God Bless!
Is there any issue with hooking the throttle cable directly up to the throttle on the carb? It seems like less work. Of course I would still need to incorporate a throttle return.
Do you have a video of jetting a stock carb and it's adjustments? We have a 212 predator and the carb stalls when we get off the gas and there is a idle screw and I see what appears to me maybe an idle air fuel mixer screw where other carbs have a plug in that spot.
Can you bypass the governor and leave it in the engine (preloading it with the attached spring to keep the governor against the internal inertial adjuster to avoid it coming apart inside the crankcase)? I have read the GX200 clones are good to ~5500rpm with stock internals. What would be required to spin this engine up to ~9000rpm? billet rod, heavier valve springs? Anything else?
I tried doing this to a 420cc Briggs & Stratton (XR2100). 2 things: (1) I had to reverse the spring and cable pulls to the opposite of stock. This is because the carb would be wide open at no throttle at the handle and closed at the carb when full throttle at the handle. That and the spring would hold it wide open. Basically if I did it like the video it would be wide open as soon as you start it and would stay there. Maybe I did something wrong. I shined a light inside to observe the butterflies. (2) I just removed the lever on the governor and left all the internal stuff. Will it run ok with nothing connected to the governor shaft? Any help would be appreciated. Haven't run it yet cause I'm not sure if it's correct yet.
Thank you Red
do you need to change the jetting at all? just finished mine and it doesn't like to idle anymore, gonna try cleaning the carb again but made me think of jetting
Hi, great videos, to do this I need to remove first the governor isnt it???, and also I have predator 212cc and has the original linkage but the carburator plastic piece where the metal rod links does not close, meaning thatbif I want to adjust the throttle thru the plastic screww it doesnt work, is this ok or the plastic piece must close complete when static??, thanks for sharing
The return spring fell off when I had to take the cover off because of the rope tension problem. I put it back together and the engine went into full throttle. That return spring fell off. Not sure now where it goes, need help thanx.
Love the vids man
Hello Mr. Red Beard, if I remove the governor off a Honda GX200, do I have to also update the flywheel?
seems like the throttle lever could go back more? the butterfly rod is stopping it?
So after doing this can you just leave the governor loose and it will function ok? I need to rebuild the throttle setup on my pressur washer motor because I think the springs are sprung and it just runs at one speed regardless of what changes I make to the throttle lever.
So does the governor have to be fully removed or just the arm to set up a direct throttle?
No longer available on Google plus
I used this method on my 212 Pred’ mud motor, left governor in the crankcase and i run mmmmm high rpms for mmmmm extended periods (its a boat/ WOT) and i have has zero issues whatsoever
I did for peace of mind spring load the old gov arm so as the mech governor tries to correct rpm the arm has something to more safely tug against.
Mine runs like a red a$$ ape
212 Hemi
Such a good video man thanks really
It's from the early day but glad you still found it useful. I've learned so much since these videos.
Great tutorial, I was wondering if just removing the governor arm would be enough to let the engine rev freely? If not is there anything I could do to readjust or remove it so the engine can rev higher without having to tear the entire engine apart?
I was wondering to
Where would you find all the parts to rebuild ? I have a project and the engine is blown on it too
These videos are so damn helpful...
What’s the measurements for the bends ? Google+ won’t work
I'm wondering the same thing!
Great video.
Am I going to need a billet rod and flywheel? I’m also worried about the cam
Very helpful,
I just ran my throttle cable directly to the carb. I couldn't stand that stock bracket on the preditor it was just to floppy to be used.
Have a pic?
Can you make a detailed video on how to run the throttle cable, some have a ball tip at the end, should I just cut it off
So if you do that setup, then you don't have to remove the internal governor?
Do you have that throttle assembly for a cmxx 2o8 cc motor?
hello
need your advice for Honda GX160 if you can help as you have a lot of engines you have made previously.
we are using this engine for karting, what are the needed mods to hit 10,000 RPM and
looking forward for your reply and advice
Why shouldn't the hole in the throttle arm be slotted, I'm only mocking it up but I'm finding gaps from the throttle arm end to the top end stop. Is this an issue?
Hey Red beard, please please make a video about upgrading Minibike breaks.
Quick question, how do you connect a throttle now?
Question, I have the 212 Predator and want to remove governor and oil sensor. Now, other videos show opening the case to remove the oil sensor but then you must tap the hole, can I just cut the exterior wire to deactivate the sensor?
+guitaristinseattle yeah you can.
Do you have a video on how to attach the throttle cable please?
I cannot find anything for the 301cc gov bypass, I copied off 212, but throttle stay open
Could you mod the throttle linkage this way for better throttle response with the governor left in or no? I am building a go kart for my nephew and would rather skip the full delete if at all possible but still do this to increase throttle response and simplify it.
You could do that
Red Beard's Garage would it have any affect on the governor? Just curious. Also thanks for the fast reply!!
Thank you so much my friend I’m subscribing to your channel 👍🏾
I'm finding on my mini bike that the linkage arm is so short I'm losing half of my throttle turn on my grip. Which makes it go to quick too fast. Thoughts anybody?
I think you can get different throttles that have a smaller cam I guess you could call it, so it gives you more throttle movement for the amount of arm movement.
thank you so much
Can I remove the governor spring if I have not remove the governor but I plan to Will that affect anything in the meantime
Who’s better red beard garage or cars and cameras
Why not just leave the governor shaft in the crank under the tank? It just rotates and does nothing since the arm is removed right?
Good job
What does the governor that works for?
How do you hook up a throttle cable to your pedal and throttle arm?
+Tristan Furseth yeah I forgot to add that to the video.
are the billet flywheels Mandatory after the gov is removed or can u just ride it like that
+Luan Hunt u can but the factory one can bust
Good stuff
Will the governor harm anything just free floating around in the engine my 212 in or a mud motor for my boat
I was wondering the same. Let me know if you found an answer to this please.
So do you need to do this once you have removed the governor to have it run right?
Yes sir
I took the governor out and i am trying to hook up the throttle but i cant when i turn on the engine the bike start running like crazy !!! Need help
Did you ever make a video for the 301cc? Can't find it on your page.
No but I have one to make the videos on just need to get on it
Do I “have” to go in and remove the governor or can I just do exactly what you did in the video.
You have to unless you want to risk hurting the rod or other engine parts with the left over internals
Red Beard's Garage thanks for the response! Guess if I do it I’ll have to do it the right way
do u hav to use a billet flywheel since the gov is removed?
+Luan Hunt I usually do them
@@RedBeardsGarage Its flywheel needed for engine or can i remove it?
Hey Red beard I've got a question for ya. My throttle doesn't have long return like the one on video it's a Colman ct200u ex. Just got it. They made it shorter I'm wondering if it would still work. I know your busy. So respond if you can sir
It all depends on where you mount the linkage rod.
Thank you sir
I HAVE LOOK FOR IN TAKE BOOT FLANGE, I WOOD LIKE TO GO WITH A STANDE CARBATOR. CANT FINE ONE. GX 270 CC HOUNDA .HELP
Are you going to remove the internal governor gear?
Wonder if you have to remove the governor ?
Very Well..
