    Glad to hear the good news. You are one of my favorite channel from the day i got my 23 690. I had a 1190 years ago, the thing about the KTM, it don't like us messing with its electronics if we don't know what we're doing. And, never ever allow low engine oil. Peace

      I appreciate the love! Thank you for the support and congrats in the 690!! I definitely agree, any sort of electronic mods have made this a nightmare.. But oil glass is checked each time! Ride safe!!

      Ehhhhhh not even sure.. (again I am not a mechanic or professional) but If I would use my own opinion, I would not. The springs around the screws SHOULD do their job and to be honest what I am going to do is add this check to my pre and post season checklist. @@LifeWellRidden welp, I had a big brain moment and looked in my Shop\Service manual for the bike. I thought there would be instructions for the decompressor and assembly. NOPE! What I did find on the googler is a page from a 2007 690 Shop Manual that does mention the decompressor weight bolts. It states to use Loctite 243 (Blue) and tighten to 3-4nm. Figured I would share with you. Thank you for responding and I hope you have a trouble free remainder of the season.

      @@ironken1796 CRAZY!! 1) I hate the new digital manuals.. give me the ol paper so I can highlight, mark up and fold important pages and not need service to search through.. 2) I feel like KTM (and everyone else) have stopped providing true "service" manuals where now its just black and white pictures on how to wash your bike or check the tire pressure..

      As an appendice, I am just as 1000 miles. $500 KTM first service right at 600 miles. Now oil light stays on much longer after starting. It was never more than a second. Now it’s sometimes 4-10 seconds. During the whole time the light is on there is a loud grinding noise. I think it’s the cam shaft tension chain, but that’s only because I have heard other people say that’s what it is. Typically not on a cold start. After riding. Any ideas?

    • @d17a2dude
      @d17a2dude 5 місяців тому +1

      12 month warranty with my 23 also. I'm about to hit 2k miles , so oil change is recommended since there could still be some trace elements in the oil from break-in. 6k miles is the normal 2nd change...
      Edit: you commented as I was typing. I know the sound you're talking about but mine does it after hot starts. I'd take it back to the shop just to be safe.

    • @LifeWellRidden
      @LifeWellRidden  5 місяців тому

      No real help on the warranty from KTM, 12 months is all ya get.. But if there are major issues that have been a problem in the past, they may help you out. May.. but if you are concerned about the sound I would take it back to the dealer and have them inspect. If they just touched the bike then they should know or be able to find what is happening!

    I've been using the Brembo RCS 15 (short lever) for the past month; which I found is only a slight improvement over the stock master. (I was hoping for a bit more bite than OEM, even when RCS is set on the race setting). Even after pressure bleeding and swapping pads and still negligible.
    I hope your experience with the 15 is better than mine. (Next on the list is a better caliper) LOL.

      I'm throwing it on next week So I'm excited to see how it feels! I have never owned a bike with one before so it will be totally new to me. Honestly I am almost looking for less bite?? I want something that acts slow but firm. I have a tendency to "grip it" too hard at the track and make me feel uneasy so something that smooths that out would be perfect for me. Time will tell!
