The point of the movie is exactly the opposite. It’s not letting go of that party animal inside you even if it’s seen as a flaw because flaws are what make us you’ll human
Apologies if someone's already covered this, but the samples are, in order (apart from the Magic Roundabout theme, obv): Opening fanfare and dialogue - from It's That Man Again (1940s BBC radio comedy), "Bye bye, everyone, bye bye" - Harry Corbett from the original BBC Sooty Show, light string music at end - "Puffin Billy", the theme to BBC Radio's Children's Favourites show, "Oh my God, is he nuts?" - Willie Scott, from the bridge fight sequence at end of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
Most certainly is! I bought this when it came out and it brought a huge grin to my face when it started. Mark came from my home town and DJ'd at our local ;-)
That Movie really stings me... I mean, Gary King isn't just a man who can't let go of his childhood. The clothes he wears, the mixtape he put on in the car, damn, nearly everything he has is from that time of his life when everything was just right in the world for him. Everyone else would have lost track or thrown away those things by that time of life... It stings cos I'm pretty much the same... My early teens were just right and I still have the posters on my wall, the jacket I wore back then and yes, I'm even a bad alchey like him. (On a less serious note, this movie has taught me to hope for the collapse of civilization at my hands in order to create a world in which I belong.)
I was just watching the opening to The Worlds End again, and I noticed this song uses the instrumental to "The Man Machine" by Kraftwerk at a couple points.. I wonder if this had anything to do with it being used in the film.
