    Great comparison video. A couple of points that you didn't bring up was build quality and heat management. The energica has much better build quality. Also, the energica has much better heat management. Zeros tend to overheat and reduce power when riding hard. That being said, a person would be lucky to enjoy either of these bikes in their fleet.

    Would it climb a kerb in walking mode, without a run-up? ie. if the front wheel was pressed-up hard against a four-inch kerb, would it need to reverse or would it still be capable of going forward? I've asked this elsewhere on the EV forums and received no satisfactory answer. Neither has any reviewer on UA-cam covered the subject of manouvering the bike on undulating/sloping & confined spaces (using walking mode) to any useful degree. Those of us who are pressed for space need to know such things! Simply going forward and back on a level surface tells us little. Cheers.

  • @annekecornee
    @annekecornee 3 роки тому +4

    I've riden the older Eva and loved the look, feel and handling. But was disappointed with the range considering the size of the battery. I guess the weight and power has a negative effect on range. Also tried the SR/F, but prefered a faired bike, so chose the SR/S. I don't miss having no DC charging, because DC chargers are mostly located along the highway here in the Netherlands, and I avoid the highway as much as possible. Public chargers are AC. There my SR/S with 6 kW charger is twice as fast as the Energica. But 99% of the time I charge at home.

    • @RH-xm5uk
      @RH-xm5uk 3 роки тому +2

      The new Eva (Ribelle) does 150km range on legal highway speed (103 real km/h). I commute 60 to and 60 back daily and don't need to charge in between. Those 120km are 15 rural and 105 highway. With fast overtaking of everything slower than 103 (on the highways). The 3kW AC charging is underwhelming but no problem when home charging. And there is still DC charging for long trips.

      I'm sorry but quality is (maybe a part from the dashboard) far superior on the Energica, lots of CNC parts on the Eva, plus even if J.Juan is a good brand, the Brembo on the Energica are superior is terms of quality, same goes for the suspensions (ps I tested both, and choose Energica, check my videos)

    Strong point for the Zero, the belt drive. Big drawback for the Energica, the chain drive. Still, I went for the Energica for the bigger range and faster charging. Better looks as well. Btw, my favourite Zero is the SR/S over the SR/F. A very elegant bike.

    • @MrJoe988
      @MrJoe988 3 роки тому +1

      Chain is a problem why? I know is more maintenance, but on the other hand chain is less likely to break while riding, and if that happens it can be "patched" on the side of the road, if the belt snaps, and you don't have a spare with you, you are stuck!

      It’s getting there. I read that a company had developed a car battery that recharges in 5 mins recently too. It’s super expensive and requires a charger that can do it of course, but a good sign of things to come!

    i'd give anything to have an electric bike that is anything except my freedom and unfortunately with either bike that's exactly what you are giving up. you are giving up the freedom to throw some cloths in a backpack, jump on your bike and just hit the road for wherever. with a gas bike you can take off in any direction and your only limits are going to be an ocean, with an electric bike your limits are going to come about every 80 miles which really sucks because to be totally honest, i am so over gas bikes, they are noisy, obnoxious, always needing something done to them and compared to electric bikes they are so antiquated but you can throw your leg over a gas bike and just keep going not to mention for about half the price or less of buying an electric. bottom line; if you want something that is mainly only going to be good for commuting, you go out and get yourself a moped for 5 grand, you go out and dump $30k+ on a new motorcycle, it better be able to keep going for as long as you want to go.....
