      I pre-ordered my new Eva Rebelle RS back in Jan/Feb and ended up tearing my right Achilles tendon playing basketball the day before I was supposed to take delivery of my bike in April, which sucked!! Stefano and Laurence, who had been awesome the whole step of the way, changed their plans on the fly, and delivered the bike to my house in Scottsdale since i was laid up. I got to see some of the other demo bikes, and they gave me a personal tutorial of all the controls even though I knew them from other vids. They were in no hurry, and I literally did feel like their only customer. Customer service cannot be rated high enough

    one of the things I love so much about your videos is they aren't the typical electric moto review where all they talk about is how there's no clutch, no gears to shift and so on. I'm not looking for reviews on how its so foreign compared to a gas bike. I've been riding maxi scooters for the past few years because I just love twist and go and currently have a Piaggio BV350 which has pretty strong engine breaking, so when you talked about being able to adjust that to preference that really stood out to me. Because my riding style is similar, to where I use engine breaking the majority of my time riding. I'm waiting for the ev market to catch up to the maxi scooter market. I just love step throughs. BMW has one but it hasn't been updated in like 5 years and the ergonomics feel like I'm sitting on top of brick wall :/ Awesome review Sam love your content!

    I can SO APPRECIATE an owner's perspective on this bike. I often compare demo or two week rides versus ownership to dating. Great to go out once or twice a week, after 'an appropriate amount of time 'being able to 'hook up.' But dating is WAY DIFFERENT than getting married or moving in together! All of the warts come out then so a true picture of how I view a product comes from an owner. Thank you for taking the time to chronicle your experience with the Ego. I'm sure many others appreciate the time and candor you put into your work.

    • @NewZeroland
      @NewZeroland  3 роки тому

    Excellent video. I’ve watched quite a few of your videos, and I’m sold on getting an Energica as my next bike. The range is acceptable with the newer higher capacity battery pack. I think I could make the 430 miles back home to Scotland in a day - the longest haul I ever do in a day. My only concern (as an old geezer) is the weight, and reversing it out onto the road from my back yard. I’ll have to try one and see how the weight feels next to my Tiger 800.

    Finally got my 2021 Energica Eva Ribelle RS, the first one of those they sold!!
    It’s an absolute torque MONSTER, and insanely fun to ride. I am still breaking in that 21.5 kW battery, and Laurence and Steffano explained to me I need to build “battery elasticity“ to get maximum range, but I don’t mind sacrificing a little bit of range (i live in Scottsdale) to really whack that throttle because there is simply nothing else like it on the road. Fastest, most responsive thing I have ever been in or on. Supposed to get from 0 to 60 mph in about 2.6 seconds, but I have to tell you, it feels much faster than that, it’s almost too much G force for my stomach to handle. LOVE IT

      I realised to use public charging like that, I need to make a high voltage battery pack.
      When researching engines to power my onboard generator, diesel engines made me realize, for something to be torquey, it must be durable & overbuilt, and for it to be that, then it must be heavy, or expensive because of exotic materials like titanium & carbonfiber.
      This is part of the reason why I prefer low torque, high revving engines & motors. I'm choosing motors that built to provide the bare minimum torque I need, and have high voltage be responsible for high RPMs.
      So it's ok public charging requires high voltage packs, because I was planning for high voltage anyway. The controllers I bookmarked for homemade EVs, max out at 144 volts, but I'll look again.
      And it's been a while since I looked for public charging kits for homemade EVs. I got caught up in hybrid research, and other things. You have any links or kits you can recommend? And their minimum pack voltage requirements?

    Cool bike and I’m glad that you get to charge at home; that said one thing that bugs me about ALL evs is this emphasis on home charging. Idk a thing about life in New Zealand but in the USA outside of a few places that are brand new construction, apartments don’t have chargers, rental houses aren’t really going to allow you to install a charger unless the landlord wants to go green and to get a charger installed from what I understand is between 3-10k depending on many factors. I guess my point is, it annoys me that ev compañía place this emphasis on home charging when the reality is few people have the ability or access to it.
    That said, 1. It has to start somewhere I get that and 2. If I had to go buy an ev right now today, an enérgica would be it hands down.

    • @NewZeroland
      @NewZeroland  2 роки тому

      Yeah I understand, for sure. Apartment living is limited, and you'd have to really want an EV to use a public charger. Some people are able to charge for free at work, so they never charge at home. We used normal wall sockets to charge everything (slow but whatever) and just bought a faster 32A wall pod a month ago. It was about $1,500 for the charger and installation. I can't imagine spending more than that. So I guess an extension cord out the window is a possible work-around for people with interesting living situations, or removable batteries that you can charge inside without hauling the whole bike upstairs.
