As a native Texan, I have to say I have never laughed so hard at two people discovering Whataburger. It's a true Texas staple. I remember about 9 years ago, my husband and I came back from being stationed overseas for 3 years with the Army and the very first thing we wanted to eat when we got off the plane in Dallas was Whataburger. We missed it so much. And HEB. Man, did we ever miss HEB so much!

As a former Whataburger employee, I recommend next time you get the same Honey Butter Chicken biscuit but with bacon added. It gives that salty and sweet combination if that is something you want to try. It was one of my favorite things at Whataburger to get. Also, for the Honey Barbeque Chicken Sandwich try it with the Jalapeno Ranch next time for some heat and a lot of good flavor. You can also change the bread on any of the sandwiches from what they normally are so you could get a regular burger on toast like the patty melt or whatever other sandwich you like. I'm glad you guys tried Whataburger though its a must have if you visit Texas.

    • @Hey_heaven

Stooooooop it! Bacon?! How come I never thought of that!
      I love you… 🥹
I just had whataburger two days ago 😭
What other combos do you recommend? If I get the whataburger or mushroom burger, i always change to texas toast… to the whataburger I add cheese, bacon, and light grilled onions, light raw onions and Mayo.. sometimes jalapeños.. I have the app and sometimes they give free whataburger and that’s why I add EVERYTHING and only get charge the add ons.
I’m so sad they don’t do the mushroom burger anymore. That was my favorite 🥺

Quick note from a current employee: you can get anything on the menu cut in half, you can get honey butter instead of barbecue sauce on the Chicken Strip Sandwich, and a personal favorite of mine is getting the Whatachick’n in a tortilla (this a breakfast exclusive keep in mind) no veggies because I don’t care for them, and with Ranch and Monterey Jack cheese added.
Also glad to see so many people like our food

I worked at Whataburger in the late 80s. as a hungry 16 year old. Dream job. A constant double cheeseburger, and fries, shakes. It was so much fun, and I learned so many business skills.
I can't speak for them now, but they were really strict on freshness of all the ingredients. If a bun was a day until expiration, it was thrown out. The meat was never frozen, which is mind-blowing to me. The tomatoes had to be singly hand-inspected as they were delivered. It took 30 minutes to go through a box of tomatoes. All of the lettuce had to be immediately hand-washed on delivery, and inspected by the receiving employee, then two managers.
It was a focused company. I'm still in touch with my co-workers, they all moved up in their lives, I don't regret a day of it.

I went from Regular Buns -> Regular Toasted Buns -> Small Toasted Buns -> Texas Toast
Texas Toast is the best bun option for any burger but if you have to get regular buns at least get them toasted (they are already toasted on the inner side but saying you want them toasted basically tells the Whataburger employee that you also want the outer side toasted) This prevents the buns from feeling stale or breaking apart.

Born and bred Texan here, and I am SO happy that you enjoyed Whataburger!
I quite literally sat here watching, laughing at all the jokes, and then as soon as you'd take a bite, I'd get quiet and lean in and wait for the reaction 😂
I'm sure I'm not the only one to say this, but it would be pronounced as someone being pleasantly surprised. "What a burger!"
In my area of Texas, we usually pronounce it Waterburger. No idea why 🤔 That's just how it comes out.😂😂

When you come back, be sure to customize your patty melt. I would recommend adding bacon and/or jalapenos to the patty melt. You can also request Texas toast as the bun for any of their burgers/sandwiches on the menu. It's pretty crazy how much doing that will improve the flavor of different menu items.

Really depends on what the channel is, but for anyone vaguely big generally the food is shared off camera still if it's not a true one man production. Stuff like Good Mythical Morning, Try Guys, etc all share the leftovers with the rest of the crew, as does a lot of food reactors that still have camera or production people that aren't as present on camera.

I had Whataburger ONE TIME about 5 years ago... I was on a working road trip in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri. It was getting late, so I grabbed a burger and headed to my hotel. I put on my pajamas, turned on the tv, and started eating. That burger was so good, I got dressed and went and got another (different) one. There aren't any where I live and I still think about those burgers.
