Imagine a game where you play an upper level detective on a criminal investigation that leads you lower and lower towards ground level of Coruscant. No jedi space wizards or something, but perhaps some augmentation or a 'failed' clone turned police man to give that slight edge. It starts of pleasant up on the surface and the few lower levels but slowly becomes madness as you go lower and lower.
It would be dope if it was like Dredd or Batman Arkham Asylum where you get trapped in the Underworld and have to complete your investigation whilst also trying to survive the underworld.
This is it chief this is it
@Enigma6344 But then the game would suck ass because it would have to explain its entire backstory and lore, or rather it wouldnt be able to since developers dont have nearly enough time to establish dozens of different species and races and their reasons for disliking eachother. What's even worse is I can Imagine our own world turning out this way and we don't have alien races like Coruscant just human of varying skin color.
Classic case of over-population and the issues that come with it. The best solution here for everyone would be a hard re-location program where the lower levels were forcefully depopulated and the moved peoples relocated to any colony or settlement the government could muster - anything really, would be better than rotting away in the lowest levels. Imagine being born in that place and being in a gang solely to survive - if your entire gang, the whole district in fact- got rounded up and relocated to some remote colony-world that Coruscant's government had founded. Even if your just a lowly worker there, you would have a wage, fresh air, a total lack of crime (at least initially) and an open sky above you to enjoy. Some would be resentful, but tbh the majority would be EXTREMELY grateful. Hell, this could be a way for the Empire to earn massive PR wins in the eyes of the public, just make a documented case for how shit life really is down here and how the empire don't blame the criminal gangs for what happened, as it was the Republic's fault and had been for THOUSANDS OF YEARS. Then you document their relocation, pardon for their crimes so far, they swear to uphold Honorable and productive lives, and you put them and everyone they know on a new colony-world somewhere to grow the empire and provide for it's citizens. There is little to nothing that can go wrong with this, you would even get a LOAD of willing recruits for your stormtrooper program this way, people perfectly happy to have been saved from a completely shitty life by the empire.
@Tactical Bacon OBVIOUSLY. I said "The Empire could..." and then detailed how to do it for easy PR wins. That they could just not give a fuck goes without saying.
They need Thanos
Tatooine anyone??
Seriously, there are thousands of planets with the population around few billion people or less, there is enough space to relocate anyone. That's the problem with Star Wars as a whole, really. Most planets are underpopulated. And I'm not talking about Tatooine or something like that - Alderaan has a population of 2 billion! This is laughable. Not to mention that with the usage of space habitats, only one star system alone would be able to host trillions of people - but it's Star Wars we're talking about, and most of the population lives on one-climate planets.
See I thought that the Republic/Empire more or less exploited most of the worlds except for inner core worlds. They extracted the resources they wanted at the lowest cost possible then they just moved on when they were done and left the inhabitants to fend for themselves. If the inhabitants complained they got hit so hard they would never do it again. The lower levels of Coruscant were probably better than the outer rim and mid rim worlds if you were poor. The government could never completely ignore the lower levels. With Star Wars tech a few million people could pretty much farm an entire world. Using sentient beings as labor was an option not a necessity.
A planet like Alderaan was an exception. It was a well managed planet, with little corruption, that ran the planet for the benefit of its inhabitants, most of whom spent their time pursuing artistic goals, that protected them from the rapacious behavior of the Republic/Empire. Alderaan wanted a population of about 2 billion, it allowed them to maintain their culture but also protected the natural condition of their planet. Immigrating there was almost impossible unless you were very wealthy. They were elitists, the Galactic equivalent of a gated community. Trillions lived in poverty so they could have their privileged existence. Then Palpatine came along and in his infinite wisdom murdered them all like the dogs they were, lol. Seriously though, Alderaan might have had sympathy for the lower level denizens but they were not having it on their world, neither were a lot of other worlds going to put up with it nor did they have the infrastructure for it. Only a few worlds like Coruscant were set up for this. Relocating these beings to other worlds, where they were not wanted or needed would have been a death sentence. Also most of them were not human, they were not fit to be storm troopers, nor did the Republic care for them. The Empire was openly hostile to non humans, escaping notice on Coruscant, even the lower levels was maybe preferable.
Great video and this is sad, but they have cool armor and voices.
At least their uniforms and armor looked pretty cool I would've liked to become an officer of Coruscant. And just think of the CPD officer's being Mexican Federal Police hiding their identity from the Narcos.
I find this so fascinating for some reason. The idea that this galaxy wide government cant reach the bottom of their own planet, just because the vast scale and differences between levels. Each level is a whole new world, and it’s gotten to the point that people can have no clue whether or not a place actually exists. The lowest of levels even thought that sunlight was a myth. The planet was explored, but as more and more was covered up, it’s like it was unexplored.
This is another reason republic fail, they couldn't even clean up the mess city world, the like America, they took the one thing that make it great and being capital in the first place, factory, no factory work no moving up the latter.
Just imagine a game taking place in one of the under levels of corusant, where you play as one Citizen or Police officer wich has to investigate in different sectors. And the game is built like a mix of GTA, Assasins creed and Jedi Fallen Order.

Long before the influx of immigrants came, Coruscant had created a giant sewer and water network called "The Works" which would eventually become nearly vacant of any life due to monsters, gases, and chemicals in the sector. The Works would be updated and refurbished every century or so but overall they would stay the same. When a city doesn’t take care of itself and only cares about their city stuff like this happens. The city becomes too dangerous for people to live. Also I have a feeling the underworld police were terrible cops.
So basically coruscant is a Cyberpunk hellscape.
Capitalism in a type 3 civilization, no wonder they were vulnerable to falling into fascism.
This eu story sounds alot like... the EU Police force.
Or as we call it in 40k: Your average hive city (minus the filthy xenos)
Hello
There
*jumps down* Hello there
Sounds like a Democratic Party Convention.
Damn ! That's Unexpectedly Depressing... At Star Wars ! D:
No body cares about those few pesky Jedi; this is the story of Cops (!)
Watching in 2019?
2:20 YT 1300 freighter aka same ship as the Millennium Falcon
On the bottom right side incase no one can see it
They should make an entire live action series on the lives of the ordinary people of coruscant. Just that one planet itself is an entire universe in its own right and I’m sure many fascinating stories could come of such a series.
I mean each level of the planet is like it’s own planet all together. It’s sad how even the most remote planets in the Star Wars galaxy get more representation in the senate than do the lower levels of the capital planet itself.
Nothing but respect for these guys as it's hard to keep law and order in a lawless galaxy.
Can u tell us how large coruscant used to be before the 'building over each city' rule came and what it looked like
It was an earth-like planet. Had 2 races on it. Basically, the soon to be human race won the war and drove the other one off-world. That other race became the Mandalorians
Corusant is basically like America selling drama to the people who move there
Why didn't the jedi help patrol and maybe set up a couple shelters and soup kitchens?
That would make a lot of sense the jedi were Lil snobs
10.000 Jedis. Let’s make some soup kitchens for Trillions of people. See the problem?
Yeah but they coulda tried chipping at it a little.
Ahsoka trail shows us how people even Corusant didn't even know about the Jedi order. They was easily forgotten for a reason.
