2023 still listening and always will ...Shah!!❤
Tony really is one of the great underrated bass players, Just listen to that thunderous beat!!!
Agree!100%!
Incredible. Came through on this track especially.
Dancing and switching between the pick ups seemlessly.
greatest live band of all time If you were lucky enough to see them you know
At times their work reached the sublime. I cannot imagine what kind of powerful influences lay behind that fertile soil that nurtured the band.
Many times 👍
Totally agree.
The Best comment off all time...END OFF 100%
Great band , the late great mr adamson , worked one of their shows at the barrowlands way back when , but for sheer excellence no one could hold a candle to canadian trio RUSH , a whole other level these guys were at . Seen just about everyone during that era , U2 , smiths , joe satriani , robert cray ,
It bites ( also superb ) crowdwed house . Memories . 😊😊😊
Not only are the guys sickly talented, they dance while playing. Show me someone today with Stuart’s skill and passion.... Big Country: such powerful and energizing music, a comet streaking across the Rock music skyline. So appreciative of the time and body of work that Stuart, Tony, and the boys gave us. This is what rock music is supposed to sound like!
No one has it anymore. Well maybe...but this is fantastic band
Not only that, they wrote about social justice at time when conservatism was really beginning to take root. Adamson always spoke for the voiceless.
He is a visionary of the highest order (beyond a mere artist who sells out, he wrote about equity in 1980 and beyond), has never been equaled and will never be equaled
Fellow Scots Biffy Clyro are the closest band in spirit to Big Country you can enjoy in concert in these times.
There's nothing like this music around anymore.
Most bands today couldn't even mime as good as this let alone play live. Big Country were something else. Rip Stuart. Thanks for the music.
I've loved this band since I was a teenager. Seeing and hearing this for the first time just now brought a tear or two to my eyes. Damn they were good.
That Tony Bass Beat: DAMN!
That whole album was dynamite, every song full of energy
What a great sound. What a great voice. What a great bass line! Harmonies piled on dischordant harmonies. Power! And underlying it all, the sound of Celtic culture. What's not to like?
Good point retson, this post brings out the bassline that shows how Tony REALLY was a big part of the songs.
Ach, be careful about nationalizing them. The band were a diverse lot and it was its diversity that was behind the brilliance. Sure, there were Scottish influences there, but there were other just as powerful and indelible influences. The point is that Stuart and the band were citizens of the world, never let that be forgotten. And nationalism? As Erich Fromm wrote, nationalism nothing if not a form of collective incest. Let's just enjoy their brilliance and support other artists who not only play and write well but more importantly communicate solidarity and equity like BC did.
The Scots are Picts not Celts.
@@frankstaredbloody great points👍
Greatest band ever. Their live performances are utterly amazing.
RIP Stuart Adamson. thank you and the band for making such wonderful music, Skids and Big Country.
20 years ago today we lost this amazing talented person. Stuart changed lives with the music he wrote.
Criminally underrated. So talented, so original, so amazing!
Just about the most perfect live performance you could wish to see . RIP SA x
Saw them in Houston, TX, on this tour, what an amazing set they brought that night. Over the years I've seen many concerts, and I'll be honest here: nothing will ever match the level of exuberance these young men brought on that night, they played their hearts out.
We still miss ya Stuart
Peace
Nice one. They still play here in Scotland all the time.
Where did they play in Houston?
Big Country absolutely bursting at the seems with power! Holy smokes! Truly remarkable. Blowing the roof off!
seams
Is that not fucking tremendous? listen to that bass. What a band.
Many of today’s bands could learn many things about performing live from Big Country. BC shows are incredible!
What a great bass sound!!
Absolutely incredible live performance, each player excels. Definitely an underrated band in the USA.
This was it...the first time I ever saw Big Country perform as a fourteen year old schoolboy. And so began a 35 year love affair with this amazing band.
Were you in the crowd in this video?
@@adelaideautowashes No, I was watching on the telly at home!! This was when I really first discovered Big Country. They became my favourite band as a 14 year old schoolboy, and they still are now I'm 51!!
@@djp2234 Oh wow, nice. Very cool! I'm much younger than you, but i'm glad I listen to music like this rather than modern "music."
@@adelaideautowashes Listen to all music but give your heart only to those who give you theirs.
My god what a magnificent singer and song writer. The best band l have ever seen. I saw them in Dublin. Xxx
Lucky enough to have seen them twice in the 80s .. the best
Love the sound of that punchy, twangy, thumping yet melodic, driving, window rattling bass. Everything else rocks as well 👍.
Tony Butler, amazing bass player!
The bass just sounds so Amazing in this song!!
Saw them at Newcastle City Hall 20/9/83 The Crossing tour. Met them after the concert and they signed my ticket of which I still have to this day. I’ve seen many bands since .. Nothing comes close to what I experienced seeing BC. The place was jumping with energy. I remember their entrance on stage.. Stuart belted out WE ARE BIG COUNTRY AND THIS IS A THOUSAND STARS.. The place went crazy.
Remember watching this in my room the tube on c4, best music show ever..... They were total class on it. Looked forward to a Friday night to watch the tube. Then later on was auf weidersen pet. Happy days
I used to love watching The Munsters then from 5.15 til 7, Our Ready Steady Go - The Tube!!!!
11 April 2020: happy birthday Stuart Adamson. You're deeply missed - your name will never die, your songs will be forever.
Wow, that's a stunning rendition of my favorite BC song!
Went to see them at Liverpool Royal Court in 1983 because a few mates were going and was a huge fan by the time I left the theatre. Saw them countless times after that and they never disappointed. So sad that Stuart couldn't overcome his demons but what a body of work, and this clip is priceless.
i am a english man all my favourite bands are from Scotland be very proud of been scottish
Rip Stuart...a troubled but talented individual
Keep on rocking in heaven
They Were and Always Will Be The Best Band In Popular Music, So Professional And Talented I Love This Bands Stuff With An Undying Passion Heart n Soul Like Their Song.

This song rocks!
The Tube was one of the finest music shows on UK Tv.Filmed in Newcastle and showcased many of the best bands in the land.
Raw,unplugged and an amazing stage for new and established talent from near and far.
Big Country were one of the stand out Scottish acts of the show.
James Leckie well it’s clearly plugged ahaga
It still IS the finest lice music programme ever shown on UK TV. As acknowledged a few years back when it was v.briefly resurrected.
"lice music" ??? LIVE MUSIC
One of my highlights was sitting next to Stuart on the floor at a party in the halls of residence after they played. He past me his whisky bottle (Teachers'); so I took a swig; happy days. A bittersweet memory because Stuart struggled with alcohol in his later life
Absolutely killer performance!
The bass on the studio version is great but on this live version Tony has a much toppier sound and it cuts through brilliantly and sounds superb. The energy from this performance is brilliant. What a band!
I still get goosebumps watching and hearing this as when I saw it air at the time. So fuckin good they were at this time.
Fuck yes that bass line Tony Butler. The band is feeling it. Man Bruce really loves playing Harvest Home. Stuart is a fucking God.
Strangely enough I'm going honolulu, hawaii this december, I shall light a candle for Stuart on the 16th and say a prayer. Cheers
Saw them just one month after this when they played at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL on March 17. "The Crossing" was such a huge album and one of my favorites in 1983-84. Needless to say the concert was outstanding, high energy(like this), and very memorable.. These clips bring it all back.. Thanks!
No words can do that performance justice.
Wish they would release a dvd of this. Would definitely order one.
Just gonna call it right now. That’s the most funkiest bass ever. This song legit crosses multiple genres. Utter brilliance. It’s rock that I haven’t heard before or since. Remains unique
The base so kicks ass on this tune.
Man, these guys were the best!
Man, that bass is thunderous! Great performance of their IMO top song.
AWESOME 💪. Stuart May Your Soul Rest in Peace Always 🙏 ✌️ ♥

Never get bored hering them
Was massive Skids fan and so Loved Big Country & Armoury Show. Both, all three bands so tight - DREAM
Got to see these guys in San Francisco in the early eighties, and they were dancing then too. Joyful travels, Stuart Anderson. Dance away.
Saw them 3 times, great band
Yip! What a sound and what talented bunch of musicians, such a loss! its so so sad . The sound they created was so "highland" but yet so unique and relevant to the year/ years . RIP Stuart. x
Amazing!! RIP Stuart 🏴 ✨
Been a fan since 86, had all the albums on vinyl and in the late 80's early 90's my brother had video cinematography company that had dealings with Big Country.
Even got my kids on the act with them watching Restless Natives 😂
Porrahman (full version) is the best song of this album 👍🏻
Remember he was the Skids' lead guitarist before creating this ensemble of incomparable musicians.
i saw them play this once up in Lincolnshire back in the day and at the end they got so entangled in each other's leads that they had to do the rest of the gig standing really near each other.
One of my favourites. Saw you in concert at Massey Hall in Toronto. 💖
Just 72 likes!? For this level of outstanding performance, musicianship, spirit and brilliant songwriting?? We need this heart back in music again. I appreciate this stunning song even more than I did in the 80’s. Stuart, we miss you more than ever. RIP
Killer bass line!! Amazing group!!!
We also need and miss Freddy Mercury.
I saw them live twice and each time they were just fabulous man

Tony’s bass is awesome and this this song rings true especially these days

One of there very best, fkn great.
Extremely exciting .
this reminds me of the first time I saw them in 1983 , one of the best live bands ever , i must have seen the 20+ times , I saw them last weekend in Hull , of course minus Stuart and Tony , but it was still great to hear the old songs belting out
Harvest Home live on the Tube; hard to get a better version than this.
Fkinawsome
Hard to hear bass often on crappy laptop or phone speakers. Not with Tony Butler, though!!!
Holy F#4k; what raw energy and talent..:)
Chance, Porrohman, Harvest Home. In the same concert. Boy did the Tube Luck out there!!
Magic.
About time you uploaded the promo video to this awesome song
Some band Stuart some style.. black clothes black guitar… and tremendous song… he resurrected the guitar… power song…
Big country is the greatest band ever
None of Big Country gets the recognition they deserve today. Not Stuart, not Bruce, and certainly not Tony and Mark.
And they were , and are, all world class musicians.
SUBLIME 🎶💜🏴🎶
Possibly their only Song where you can hear Bruce's voice
Tony Butler was putting that bass to work!!
Fuckin' awesome tone!
1984... wow, how so long ago. 37 years. Its so long ago that leaded petrol was still in widespread use.
Bass player ain't no joke!
Adamson = LEGENDARY!
Super. Song
A PROPER BAND ! ! !
The biggest non commercial band of the 80s
