  • Helena Faustin, 35, cares for babies born with congenital heart disease as a registered nurse in New York City. On the side, she cooks and shares traditional Jamaican recipes on social media @thatnursecancook. Juggling work at the hospital while raising two kids of her own, Helena decided to do something for herself and took her passion for food to the next level. And of that $117k she had to pay no salary, no extensive business cost. Incredible!!!!!

She does not have to worry about getting approval from her local health department because she's just cooking at home showcasing it virtually. There is no need for a permit or license from the state. She does not have to pass any inspections or get coded. In such a time as this. This is great.

Her Instagram following has exploded to just under $500k so I would expect her to double her 2021 income this year. The sky is the limit for her. Motivation to keep going! I complain daily about being a stay-at-home mom who’s homeschooling and doing every single thing to expand myself beyond the borders of my kitchen. I’m on a mission and this sister’s story is one more to add to my playlist for times I think it’s too much. Much success to all who’s going after something with their whole heart!

Wow I’m first gen Jamaican American and I have a year left for nursing school ad well. People always tell me to start selling dishes because what I be posting on my Snapchat ppl wanna know how they can get it!! That’s just a small crowd of ppl tho I did purchase my name and everything but I’m still looking into marketing and stuff. Great story remarkable your mother reminds me of my mother for sure she would always say no pitny in the kitchen, don’t have time to teach, and use as much as you need. That’s made me smile so hard and laugh cause I’m like that’s my mother as well!! From Kingston Jamaica 🇯🇲 proud of you

As a first generation Jamaican, I grew up right in Flatbush, Brooklyn too. She is right. Their mentality is go to school, behave, get good grades, pick a career with a great pension, work 30 years, endure the misery so you can retire at 65 and live your remaining 10 to 20 years as comfortable as you can. I feel so proud that she took something that we all saw our mothers and grands doing, and made it into a successful business. I follow her on IG and I love to see her family. God blessed this woman that she can get paid for something that she does so well and loves at the same time. Go ahead sis and may Yahweh keep blessing you and your beautiful family ❤❤
