This was the first day 1 raid I’ve been able to experience. I’ve played destiny on and off over the years, but never very seriously and never had a group of friends that were all active on destiny until now, so this was the first day 1 raid for all of us. We weren’t chasing worlds first or anything but really wanted a contest mode clear. Since a lot of us didn’t have meta weapons, we weren’t able to clear the final boss, but the closest we got was killing him as he wiped us, getting the engram drop and everything, and then having to restart the encounter due to the bug. We never ended up clearing on contest mode, and doing the raid after contest mode just felt disappointing for all of us. We breezed through it in under an hour and hardly talked the entire time
Fun Fact: With the release of Into The Light, the Explicator has a new SFX during DPS phase when he ‘shifts focus’. (When he sends out a fire tornado and switches elements)
My team didn't do number or left or right for planets, our runners would literally stand under the planets, look to their partner and ask "do you see where i am?" And they would exchange planets
So to answer where is Savathun, the vanguard has her body hidden away for her ghost not to find and be able to find her but eventually there’s theories that she is a strong ally that will likely be revived due to her knowledge of beating the disciples
Our callouts for planets were light/dark 1-6 based on position left-right, back-front of the room. After day 1 we changed callouts to be front left and right because there’s always 1 planet on the bottom segment and the top segment of the platform and you’ll just recognize the voice calling out to you to know that they’re referring to youth segment
As you have to tell the callouts to someone who runs in your direction, we always used "front", "back" and "middle" in the sense of how far they are away.
You know, raid bosses tend to have nice designs but man, Nezarec, the so called "final god of pain" looked like a tormentor that ate everything a mcdonalds has to offer twice

It's true it's very filler. Hope they deliver in QoL instead at least... They kinda have already a bit, but it needs to go throughout the year to justify this "story" a bit at least
For planets what my team used is we called out the name of the player that would head to our spot, and tell them the number they needed. Each spot had the closest to the entrance and center on each triangle labeled as 1, the outside next to the wall as 2, and the one most towards the exit as 3. This proved to be actually pretty nice and easy to listen to as it allowed us to focus on other stuff until we heard our name called. So the callout worked kinda like this “Bean, yours is 3” So once you grabbed your planet you only had to remember the one number you used. We also swapped corners rather than sides since it was much safer that way by avliding the boss entirely.
Call outs for 3rd we used were 123456, from front of the room (where you start) to back (where the boss spawns). It's mirrored on each side, and no confusion between top and bottom triangles call outs.
wow this came out fast. (You didnt overwork your editors like witht he vow one this year right?) Well kudos to you and all the editors for getting this out so freaking fast and putting in all that hard work. Great video!
We had similar callouts, but instead of left and right, we had inner and outer. The inner planet is the one closest to the center of the room on a triangle, and outer is the furthest from the center of the room. Middle was the callout for the one in the middle.
I love how these videos make it seem like this stuff is ancient history and gamer lore when this stuff all happened less than a week ago while I was watching people argue on Reddit
I never get behind any of the teams, whoever wins wins. The raid race just screams of elitism to me. Most of the teams that do day 1 play the game as a job. Like with salvations edge, everyone went silent and refused to stream their screens. While the team that’s actually won never streamed at all and just got on with it.
The callouts my team and I used were just 1, 2, and 3 for every triangle. We knew what eachothers voices sounded like so we just listened for the person that was opposite to us
As a team who didn’t really prep for actually doing the raid on day one and only had 2 people over 1800 and everyone else was around 1780. We got to planets pretty easily. I’ve never done a day one raid but I know contest mode is not supposed to be that easy
as easy as this raid is, it's one of the best ones they've made visual and play wise. bugs were crazy though. got the shotgun on my first completion and it's so freaking good, i love it. hope everyone gets it soon
i wanted to do left mid and right but I was told it was obviously easier to do numbers 1 2 and 3 rotating from the center of the map. I hated it but I was the only one who though it was more confusing. We got it done quickly but I hated the number system.
I was on the lower plates in Macrocosm, me and my partner used close/middle/far. The partners up top used numbers 4/5/6. We just used whatever made the most sense for the pair
Our day 1 callouts were naming the triangles L/R 1/2 (like oryx). And each planet being left, right, or top (what you called middle). Though I’ve been screwing around with my clan and using Angular, Continuous, and Parallel as our callouts now. Though don’t do that unless you can agree on the correct order for scourge buff arrangement
My callouts for planets (no joke) were back to front 1 - 6 and 2 - 5 were alwase on the left sides (looking for spawn) for both sides, and 3 - 6 were alwase on the right sides for both sides. Then the middle planets were, A for left, B for Right, and C for Middle. Those are the callouts me and my team still use. But when i sherpa this raid i will not be using them for obvious reasons We all got the Day 1 Emblem as well
Let me guess, Taniks will be revived by The Witness and become a disciple, then he’ll be the raid boss in Final Shape while The Witness is the campaign boss.
On 3rd encounter we number planets like we numbered the consoles in vault security being the farther from the flag the higher the number going for 1-6 and left to right made it a breeze
yeah this raid was REAL fun for me and my clan who are 90% titan mains. we went in with 5 titans and a hunter, AFTER this raid a lot of my clan swapped to be warlock mains.
15:00 our call outs where top 1, 2, or 3 and bottom 1, 2, or 3 and we would call out if it was light or dark. Top for the more elevated platform and bottom for the lower level
Finally someone who doesn't use numbers at Macrocosm My fireteam used a very similar approach, but we named planets as if we looked at them from the spawn point. Made it easier when running to the opposite side to swap planets imo
on day 1 we had a person on the fireteam draw a map, each "triangle" had a 123 , with it being opposite for both sides, so that 1 was always closer to the middle of the room, 3 was closer to the walls of the room, and 2 was the top of the triangle
This, was my first ever day 1 raid, also having to take part to the twitch rivals, even tho i and my team haven't been as fast as popular D2 streamers, Roots of nightmares was such a great experience, contest mode was such a great challenge, especially for a first time, i really do see why people love doing day 1 raids, the adrenaline and excitement. As for the final boss... oh, my goodness i'd rather not remember this
I was itching at the neck like an addiction for the video for Ron. I knew it was coming. And like always, you delivered. I love these videos, I’ve probably watched each at least 3 times.
My team actually had Nezzy wipe us as he died, However we didn't get the 'light fades away' screen, we finished the raid. Only time I've heard of that happening
This is my favorite raid. I wasnt there for worlds first because i just stopped playing the game in beyond light, but i came back for the season of the witch and man is it such a good looking raid. I love how it looks, and i love the mechanics for some reason. Maybe its cuz im a simple guy and the mechanics are super simple, but the vibes and the weapon is my favorite by far. Dsc and vow are growing on me slowly, but ron is still my favorite raid. Used to be lw but now ron is my favorite
aside from all of the contraversay this raid has caused, i really feel like raid exotic quests should come back. divinity was a really cool quest and had a bit of a learning curve to the puzzles. id like to see more like divinity, maybe you could unlock the quest after completing the master version or just the regular version with some puzzles included in it.
I'm actually curious about how veterans felt about this raid. From an aestethic and thematic perspective I think it's great but from a gameplay perspective I felt it was "easier" and fell short the expectation I had. I don't crave for unforgiving and heavy pressure gameplay like most of Last Wish (thought I loved that raid too) or overcomplicated teamplay strats like the ones requested for Vow of the Disciple and still... I expected more from this raid since the stakes put by the storyline were very high. My hopes and dreams are all on Final Shape now. It must be the Raid of Raids.
Final Shape’s raid needs to be Last Wish ++ difficulty. It’s the final raid, it needs to be all out. Make us as a community earn the ending for Destiny with our blood sweat and tears. I’m not saying this to gatekeep or anything, but because I think the final raid should be a piece of truly aspirational content.
@@c.m.hahnebaum753 I think (and I expect, knowing Bungie storytelling shenenigans) that Final Shape could even be a time-gated raid, like "The Witness is doing is hurr grrr evil thing and you have only four hours to stop him", put a huge countdown in the corner and let people figure out the extremely complicated mechanics. This will put every team competing for world's first in a situation where you can even reach the final encouter first and then losing because of the countdown, and because stream-sniping will help other teams figure the mechanics and catch up. Definitely would be a compelling race to watch don't you think? 🤣
my teams day one planet callouts were: spawn, back and boss for the bottom plates. back, front and top for the top plates lmao made it so that we didnt mix up call outs
Callouts for Planets: From where the runner is facing, Front, middle, back (Or rear). As the runners jump over they know which one to stop at relative to where they started. Zero confusion amongst our team.
Did Nightmare last night first time, was also my first ever raid (I mostly play Destiny solo), I had gotten 3 of the armour pieces and the exotic first try
Next raid boss: Taniks reborn, perfected, disciple of the Witness, the last god of pain, now with a Gjallarhorn per arm

Each spot had the closest to the entrance and center on each triangle labeled as 1, the outside next to the wall as 2, and the one most towards the exit as 3. This proved to be actually pretty nice and easy to listen to as it allowed us to focus on other stuff until we heard our name called. So the callout worked kinda like this “Bean, yours is 3”
So once you grabbed your planet you only had to remember the one number you used.
We also swapped corners rather than sides since it was much safer that way by avliding the boss entirely.
Call outs for 3rd we used were 123456, from front of the room (where you start) to back (where the boss spawns). It's mirrored on each side, and no confusion between top and bottom triangles call outs.
Another S tier addition to the Raid video saga.
I love how there was only like 10 different weapons used in the entire raid. And there was only void energy weapons.
That's what happens when volatile Flow is so much more accessible now
look at your artifact mods. the best one's are void based
wow this came out fast. (You didnt overwork your editors like witht he vow one this year right?) Well kudos to you and all the editors for getting this out so freaking fast and putting in all that hard work. Great video!
I can't wait for "the raid that edged that destiny 2 community"
well…yeah, congrats, you got it
For the planets we just described the color or if it looked like a planet in our solar system (the sun, Jupiter)
We had similar callouts, but instead of left and right, we had inner and outer. The inner planet is the one closest to the center of the room on a triangle, and outer is the furthest from the center of the room. Middle was the callout for the one in the middle.
31:41 Nezerec: YOU CAN NOT ESCAPE ME GUARDIAN
I love how these videos make it seem like this stuff is ancient history and gamer lore when this stuff all happened less than a week ago while I was watching people argue on Reddit
I've never understood the gatekeeping on raids. MORE PEOPLE PLAYED IT? Yeah, let's fucking end that for the .1%.
It's fine with me I'll take it. Lol
as easy as this raid is, it's one of the best ones they've made visual and play wise. bugs were crazy though. got the shotgun on my first completion and it's so freaking good, i love it. hope everyone gets it soon
i wanted to do left mid and right but I was told it was obviously easier to do numbers 1 2 and 3 rotating from the center of the map. I hated it but I was the only one who though it was more confusing. We got it done quickly but I hated the number system.
we had left, top, right callouts. worked great.
It's good that you made this a 40 minute video. It helps make up for worlds first only taking 2 and a half hours.
they could and should have done so much more with this raid but ive still had fun with it
I was on the lower plates in Macrocosm, me and my partner used close/middle/far. The partners up top used numbers 4/5/6. We just used whatever made the most sense for the pair
14:18 - The DCV room... That popped me HUGE! ❤️🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yeah that second encounter Soft lock happened to my team many times causing us to wipe a couple times when we finished all 3 floors
The planet encounter is what made me switch from Bonk Titan to Stafire Warlock.
Raidzone was AWESOME and I was glad to watch that friday morning while working.
33:20
when this happened to us everyone just whipped out colony and killed the remaining enemies with it
My callouts for planets (no joke) were back to front 1 - 6 and 2 - 5 were alwase on the left sides (looking for spawn) for both sides, and 3 - 6 were alwase on the right sides for both sides. Then the middle planets were, A for left, B for Right, and C for Middle. Those are the callouts me and my team still use. But when i sherpa this raid i will not be using them for obvious reasons
We all got the Day 1 Emblem as well
Can't believe I've only done 2 of the D2 Raids... meanwhile on D1 I was doing them all almost every week lol
Let me guess, Taniks will be revived by The Witness and become a disciple, then he’ll be the raid boss in Final Shape while The Witness is the campaign boss.
I’m from the future. You were actually on to something lol.
On 3rd encounter we number planets like we numbered the consoles in vault security being the farther from the flag the higher the number going for 1-6 and left to right made it a breeze
The title should be “The raid that might kill the hardcore player base”
yeah this raid was REAL fun for me and my clan who are 90% titan mains.
we went in with 5 titans and a hunter, AFTER this raid a lot of my clan swapped to be warlock mains.
As soon as the video started I thought he was going to say "Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on mars"
my callouts for planets was rally (closest to rally), door (closest to psion spawn door), and boss (closest to boss).
15:00 our call outs where top 1, 2, or 3 and bottom 1, 2, or 3 and we would call out if it was light or dark. Top for the more elevated platform and bottom for the lower level
Finally someone who doesn't use numbers at Macrocosm
My fireteam used a very similar approach, but we named planets as if we looked at them from the spawn point.
Callouts for the 3rd encounter were per plate, 1 is Northmost, then 2 and 3 clockwise
The jumping puzzle should’ve been an encounter bc it would incentivize team movements and slowed the progression more
Meh
My call out for the planets are front, back and other is so simple like that.
"with the stakes high, emotions higher. . ."
every. time.
RoN and Garden being tied for buggy raids is funny as hell.
34:40 I think that’s just the “penultimate” effect, we know something big is coming in the end; but it’s not now
aside from all of the contraversay this raid has caused, i really feel like raid exotic quests should come back. divinity was a really cool quest and had a bit of a learning curve to the puzzles. id like to see more like divinity, maybe you could unlock the quest after completing the master version or just the regular version with some puzzles included in it.
32:11 when Nezarac has not given you enough pain.
The Blueskip is iconic
The soundtrack especially Nezarec's is top-notch
Our call outs for day one planets were top and bottom 1(closest to spawn) 2 further from center of arena) and 3 top corner it worked for us
Crazy how we were top 3 till the Planetarium encounter. It took us 2 hours. Loved the Raid.
36:34 yes... how?... only yes
my teams day one planet callouts were: spawn, back and boss for the bottom plates. back, front and top for the top plates lmao made it so that we didnt mix up call outs
We also had a bug where random people on our team that got rezed their movement was cut to a walk even when sprinting the speed was at a walk
Callouts for Planets:
From where the runner is facing, Front, middle, back (Or rear). As the runners jump over they know which one to stop at relative to where they started. Zero confusion amongst our team.
Did Nightmare last night first time, was also my first ever raid (I mostly play Destiny solo), I had gotten 3 of the armour pieces and the exotic first try
