To all the comments saying skating techs are extremely easy - cool, but the SLIPSTREAM was one hell of a journey, and I someday hope I can make it to Galaxy Pools on my own 🤝
yea slipstreaming is not even close to any of the skating it is much harder. i also loved watching someone learn it. It was so similar to my journey for learning slipstreaming always wanting to hop back on just for a few more trys then one day it just clicked and now i never drive my sparrow like a normal person im always doing some trick its super fun.
thank you so much castle bc of this video and your insights in learning I also finally learned how to properly slip after failing to teach myself for a month
I remember staying up for hours well into the morning just trying over and over again. eventually I got the hang of it to where I can do it somewhat consistently, however you took it to the next level. great vid mate

Just slipstreaming at the start of the Glassway GM to Well-Skating across jumping puzzles in raids and dungeons. Little things in the game, although may not be intended creates another layer of depth.

I love this video so much. it sums up the learning process for all this so perfectly too. All the same emotions I felt doing these things for the first time. Glad I got to bump into you on your journey, and congrats on learning everything man. All this in two weeks is really fast to learn.
Learning complex mechanics like these with precise timing and sequences is what makes games like Rocket League so popular. There is an infinite skill ceiling to a lot of these things and so many players enjoy pushing the boundaries of what is possible. Glad you could accomplish your goals, there is no better feeling than the satisfaction of doing something you once thought you never could but tried anyways.
Thats some serious dedication. I have always wanted to go to the gravity pools. Just gotta save my spoils for Always on time then the time to grind for it and the skills will arrive.
what i found when learning to skate was that your button mapping plays a huge part and yes that timing furing your swap to eager. i have my weapon swap R3, so click in right stick long press for heavy and i count to 2 and then to the heavy>jump>shatterdive, works every time. well works in the same way. i knew castle would point that out.
To all my fellow controller players, perhaps the best piece of advice I kind give for learning to skate is to change the main input method to one of the left side keys, where the emotes are typically. Shatter dive, well, bubble, etc. The default method requires too many buttons or a long hold which just doesn’t work well. I’ve also learned that the timings are just the slightest bit different for each method. Shatterdive is easier to learn, but isn’t as fast. Start at shatter than go to well. Also custom match on eternity with the highest super regen. For shatter, press heavy attack, jump, and shatter dive at the same time. For well skating, I heavy attack and jump at the same time and wait just a split second to activate well. The timing is that you want to use well the moment you leave solid ground.
I find that it is infinitely easier to do with the directional pad than the default buttons as well. It feels awkward trying to well skate pressing R2, X and then L1 + R1. I've gotten consistent with it usings R2, X and then Down on the directional pad for shatter and well skating.
Nice job, suprised you at least got basic infinite slip in 2 weeks, getting better with dodge timing is key to being consistent. Try doing dsc entrance 1-6 (1-7 is only possible with frostbite delay).
Congrats Castle, pretty inspiring. I've never even considered trying some of these techs or the mystery behind sparrow flying but it seems demystifed now at least
What a lovely journey, showing that with a bit of motivation and some friends to lend a hand, anyone can achieve their goals. This is destiny 2 content at it's best.
Some helpful tips: The always on time sparrow isnt needed. I use the micro-mini. It just needs more dodges Also, bubble skating can be done with most roaming supers and is mostly easier from what i find. The most fun are glacial quake, stormtrance, daybreak and fists of havok.
As a long time d2 player, I just started seeking to learn these techniques in the past two or so months, and let me tell you, much like the vid conveys it's a heck of a peak to summit, and the learning curve is NOT consistent. I went from taking an evening to get okay at basic sparrow flying (mainly just getting a little height) and another to get used to transitioning sparrows while in the air, to nearly a full week (and counting) slamming myself against the cliffsides of nessus failing slipstreams for hours a night. Granted I'm on controller, high frame rate, and I've made a ton of progress on basic slipstreaming, this stuff only *looks* easy when a pro does it, but takes a lot to even begin to wrap your head around. I will say though, it's very worth it, as it's a real fun and challenging skill to build, and the community is top notch. I've made so many friends just hanging out on the red roof, and even the most skilled of fliers will commonly take time to stop what they're doing and offer tips, guidance, and demonstrations, for newcomers like myself out there struggling. Real chill skate park type vibes, been a lovely experience through and through.
Thank you. I needed this and didnt even know it. Ive been down lately and I think I have a similar issue where im not being challenged. Thank you for inspiring me.
Watching this video made me realize I've been slipstreaming wrong for the past 2 years LMAO, I could do it good enough to get through deadsea in prophecy consistently but I had no idea how to continue chaining it at the same height
i never thought someday i learn slipstream but after watching your video i got motivation and finally try learn it after 3 years playing D2, after 1 month to learn i finally reach to spawn point cistern and constantly do infinite slipstream not great but not terrible, your video help me alot, man, the practice make my left hand and finger completely numb but it worth it, slipstream are so much fun.
For bubble, well and shatter skating. Pull your sword out first, then do the other inputs. You could wait even a full second with your sword out, then hit the skate. Bubble skate is still very finicky regardless. Could be crazy, but it feels easier to do when at lower frames for me.
sparrow flying took me probably 200 dedicated hours to get to the level where I can do any trick I want and fly infinitely whenever I want. It’s not worth your time, but it’s freedom at its finest
I spent a whole day on rainbow road when I decided to start speedrunning prophecy. If you watch some of my first speed runs, I did the old method, but for my old WR breaker run I had to learn slipstreaming. Was worth it, so much fun.
Thats why there is an ice berg to Destiny. There are somethings casuals dont even get to see because the groups are so tight and elusive. But if you are introduced to them you get to see a whole different game.
Back in D1 in Russia, there was a small ledge that you could jump off of. Me and friends were trying out tricks, flipping twice and landing. The jump off the sparrow, then back on. That slipstreaming tho, bro!
Holy crap dude, that was wild. I've been going through a back log of content to watch. watching a 4 month old video of yours and i was still on the edge of my seat. So glad i found this. I have been feeling to up my level in d2, and this video covers almost all the tech i wish to learn. Watching your progress is insightful
Contrary to what a lot of content creators have said enhanced eager edge actually does really help with skating, it extends the time before activation and let's you hold your sword out for a bit before doing the button sequence.
I saw someone try to get to the red roof on Cistern, but I had no idea what that was so I was so confused why he kept jumping off the map over and over.
Great video man not a lot of people can learn these tricks and you did it in 2 weeks made amazing progress reminds me of when I taught my friends how to worldline skate back in forsaken
Not finished with the vid, but here’s a little tip: It doesn’t matter when you heavy attack, as long as you still have the eager edge buff. If you have to slow down a bit, to line up or get prepared, you’ll go faster in the end. For the red roof, you can scale the right side of the mountain by the tree once you take that final jump pad and don’t need to sparrow fly :)
HUGE W and the takeaway you had from all this was on point! We often go after achievements in games chasing that feeling of elation and hype of when we complete some crazy personal goal but after a while, sometimes that meaning can be lost along the way and we don't know why we're playing anymore. It applies to all challenge runs for example in any game that the best reward that gives the most feels is when you're not driven to do something because you want some kind of loot, but you're doing it because you want to, GGs my guy! 👏

You can make it up to the red roof area on nesses without your sparrow, just take the boosters normally, then just climb the tree and wall till you make it up there.
Man I got to say first time in your channel you just got a sub. This was by far the best video I've watched this year. That just kept me interested. I'm going to try slipstream because of you
I remember sparrow flying in D1 i didnt think it was possible in D2, I'd always try to fly across the hellmouth as you could actually land on a small platform on the other side I dont remember having to constantly spawn a new sparrow tho
This inspired me to learn the sparrow techs and so far I've learned how to glide and go straight up now just to refine it and learn to slipstream. It's been a lot of fun and the new season pass exotic sparrow works for this you don't need the raid sparrow. I may be wrong but I don't think the raid sparrow is better than the season pass one for sparrow flying.
Firstly - AMAZING vid, the journey, the framing, the pacing, the informational quality is top tier - but oh MAN I’ve been loving every new bit of shmoovement trickery, skips and cool OoBs in the game that I find or discover from others; honestly has become one of my main joys in the game (and that’s not a criticism or complaint bout d2) Is 4dash a private disc, or are they open to people joining to learn & contribute without needing a vetted invite like you had aha
For those who learns how to Hunter Eager Edge Shatterdive Skate one note - it's doesnt waste your sword ammo if you do all right. 1. Press heavy attack; 2. Press/Release Jump 3. Shatterdive
I miss being able to glitch to the rainbow road to practice slipstreaming, not having that respawn timer was fantastic. No other area really competes for a launch spot to practice. I was always good at sparrow flying but slipstream was a whole ass other beast. It’s hard to explain even in a video that you basically have to ‘feel’ how the antigrav your sparrow floats on grips the air and you have to whip yourself around it in a very specific motion and timing wholly based on your current position, like you go through a whole ass spiderman training arc learning it lol, and then once you get to a certain speed it actually gets easier as you convert the horizontal movement into vertical Something about these kind of tricks bring me right back to superbouncing in Halo 2. It’s just so satisfying to pull off movement techs that require you to actively perform something with dexterity and timing, instant reward feedback to your effort it’s the best kind of video game ‘feeling’ for people who love the tactile/immersion aspects. I also learned guitar hero from the ground up, barely playing easy to being able to smash expert ttf&tf at friends houses casually so that’s an interesting connection, a lot of these *are* rhythm based, so the timing/dexterity crossover is intriguing. I think another game that would fit into this category are the Trials games, (or any physics platformer.)
Mortal Kombat 11 has some counters with a 4 frame window. Learning a fighters combos is one thing but reading the opponent to capitalize and punish on their combos is supremely satisfying.
Dude you are so very good at tjis man watching your videos makes me want to play Destiny right now :) Im still in the contemplation stage but Im going to make vids in my spare time .. watching you get hyped for a challenge is contagious Super glad I found your channel

I somehow managed to pick it up quick and only then i returned to basic sparrow fly which i did manage to do pretty quickly 😅
This is the first video I have watched of yours, and you've earned a new sub... reminded me that gaming isn't always about sweating your ass off and that learning new skills can be frustrating but so fun at the same time
You can actually shatter skate with light attack, although it doesn't have the same distance as heavy attacks. Idk if this is possible on m&k but it does work on controller
I loved watching this. It's been a while since I tried, but I could never get slipstreaming down (despite how easy people make it sound). Love the reactions when you nail stuff. Reminds me of when I started getting some of this stuff down. Maybe I'll go back and try learning to slipstream again! lol
Learning the infinite slip is insanely hard to do, took me a solid week of trying to get it and I already knew the closed slip. I struggled slightly as I don’t think it is that easy on controller. The only difference between rainbow road and cistern gang is that rainbow is a more closed slip (it’s considerably easier at least)

After I slowed down your pov at 5:17 to 0.25x, I was able to finally figure out well skating. Thank you :)
Firstly - AMAZING vid, the journey, the framing, the pacing, the informational quality is top tier - but oh MAN I’ve been loving every new bit of shmoovement trickery, skips and cool OoBs in the game that I find or discover from others; honestly has become one of my main joys in the game (and that’s not a criticism or complaint bout d2)
Is 4dash a private disc, or are they open to people joining to learn & contribute without needing a vetted invite like you had aha
First off thank you!! As for the 4dash discord they are extremely welcoming - I highly recommend you join!
congrats, that hug at the end was so heartwarming❤️

For those who learns how to Hunter Eager Edge Shatterdive Skate one note - it's doesnt waste your sword ammo if you do all right.
1. Press heavy attack;
2. Press/Release Jump
3. Shatterdive
I miss being able to glitch to the rainbow road to practice slipstreaming, not having that respawn timer was fantastic. No other area really competes for a launch spot to practice. I was always good at sparrow flying but slipstream was a whole ass other beast. It’s hard to explain even in a video that you basically have to ‘feel’ how the antigrav your sparrow floats on grips the air and you have to whip yourself around it in a very specific motion and timing wholly based on your current position, like you go through a whole ass spiderman training arc learning it lol, and then once you get to a certain speed it actually gets easier as you convert the horizontal movement into vertical
Something about these kind of tricks bring me right back to superbouncing in Halo 2.
Thank you!!

I dont know why but, when i was learning how to sparrow fly, i found it extremely difficult to pull of the basic technique so i opted to spend a few hours learning how to slipstream first. I somehow managed to pick it up quick and only then i returned to basic sparrow fly which i did manage to do pretty quickly 😅
Honestly, good job dude. You kind of inspired me to learn how to do all this.
"Let's bet, if I do it, you'll let me in on your day1 raid" holy shit, the stakes just got real.
I just learned how to wellskate, so this was very entertaining
Great to see the aspects of the game that i love being brought into main d2 content, super well made video :))
worldline skating was so cool back in the day
I am at Galaxy pools, a way easyer way. But i am fucking cringe. You inspierd me to do this. So much love for you ❤❤❤❤🎉
This is the first video I have watched of yours, and you've earned a new sub... reminded me that gaming isn't always about sweating your ass off and that learning new skills can be frustrating but so fun at the same time
Thanks Nathan!
Meanwhile he goes to the mountains and plays hockey as well, perfectly balanced.
Bravo on the last few videos dude. Worth the wait. Hilarious. Now i have to learn to bubble skate..
This was great fun to watch. Hope this was enjoyable for you :)
Maybe I'll go back and try learning to slipstream again! lol
Do it Jeff!
I figured out how to well-shatter skate on controller, it's super easy if you use a and b together for your super
Congrats on learning stuff in D2. Love your dedication
This is a certified castle moment
