I dont know what I am doing wrong but first of all I just get bigger chunks of like 15 cards or more by sliding with the thumb. Second the bottom edge of the cards start stuck on my hand at half the way.... is it my really small hand or the presure i got with my thumb holding the deck? (Im using a fresh deck of cards)

with anyone struggling with the one hand close, I found my mistake. I wouldn't say it's a flick, more of a pull. The most important things were those 2 first fingers CURLED, not straight.

Maybe it's because i have smaller hands and the grip is naturally tighter... but i have an easier time doing the one-handed close with my middle finger just off the edge of the bottom cards corner then pushing my pointer finger forward toward it so that the card pivots around my middle finger... then just draw the middle finger in slowly while this is done to bring the packet square. I can do this at just about any speed comfortably.

Great tutorial. Thanks. I am just learning new cardistry tricks. I am trying to learning the close along with the spread. My spreads are kinda distributed but there are big lumps in it. When I try to close though, I am able to push just the one card back. Does that have to do with the spread not being even? Any tips.

Is there anything wrong (from a technique standpoint, that might hinder other moves) with using your index finger instead of your thumb to fan the cards? I learned to do it with that finger, and while I'm sure with enough practice I can do it with the thumb, I seem more comfortable with the index finger.

You should do it on the tip of your index. The tut from dimitri's dvd is kinda outdated (at that time he only did 180 degrees one ). So there is no tut on 360 riffle fan that is taught by dimitri. Like I said, use the tip of your index to generate the fan, and watch the performances of those who can do it, like jack nobile, as you said, or even dimitri himself ( check out fontaine video: old zoo )

Why is there no good tutorial on the thumb fan? Your is the best but I still just don't understand... no one tells you about the grip on the cards themselves just the other hand moving them? I mean that in I know how to hold them but how much pressure/should I loosen up while fanning the cards out/If the cards won't all spread out is it because my hands don't have the space to do a whole deck? See problems like that are never talked about and I don't get why
