To be scale correct, this is a model of the T-28A which was only used by the Air Force, and utilized a 2 bladed prop. The Navy versions (T28B and C) had a larger engine with larger diameter cowl, like the 1.2m version horizon offers.
Thanks for the details! I have three blades on mine now, and it's a great look, but two blades were better for performance, but by a very razor thin margin. Video coming soon, (When they're back in stock...and we covered the "Soft Tires" which are very hard still, but work well!)
Just bought one and will put it together tonight. Thank you for your complete and honest 'construction' video & radio setup. Greetings from the Netherlands
i just pulled out all my batteries and plane stuff after about a 18 month break. i didnt realize how much i have invested in the hobby. not as much as you but close. i chuckled when i seen the counter in your kitchen. youve taken valuable counter space from camera crew lol
Hey Brian, finally you got the video. The plane I received my plane yesterday and started to put it together but I have to wait until tomorrow to be able to put the wings on and program, this is Joe Latona been after you about your video and now I am watching your video and thought I would give you a shout.
EFlite needs to step it up on their landing gear for this plane. FMS’s 1400 has better gear than this. Do better EFlite. As large and as expensive as this plane is, there is no way it shouldn’t have Olio’s. Other that that T28’s are always an awesome plane to fly. Great job as always Brian and Megan! I believe the Draco propeller would fit this, just needs a coat of paint to match.
AWESOME! You're gonna LOVE the plane. You don't realize this (since it's not public), but we have footage coming TOMORROW for this plane - she is one of my all time favorites!
Polycrylic is so worth doing on most foam planes i use 2 coats of high gloss and it adds strength and keeps the foam from getting dirt etched deep into the foam years from now my planes will look like new still. Now when i see a bare foam plane it looks un finished cheap n toy like.
Hey Brian - at the 47:43 mark you are installing the vert stab - did HH ooops on the label for rudder server connection - why are both labelled ELEV ? LOL 😅
@@BrianPhillipsRC I lucked out... showed up while she was out and into the attic it went. Told her we have mice up there... good to go till I build it. Then I'm dead LOL
I like to use a bit of Velcro, because using that drawer liner, I have seen straps that do not hold the battery tight if your doing 3D moves and the battery can shift or I have seen them exit the plane. Just my experience .
I am seriously considering one of these, but I find the lack of some sort of easy connector on the wings a bit of a disappointment, but easy enough to mod. Also, a big bummer that they do not use steel clevis. Those nylon clevis are a crash waiting to happen. Luckily, also an easy mod.
yes, but I agree, and agree again that they'd both be easy enough mods for those who really need it. I've always thought LONGER LEADS to the wing, when it's detachable for transport, make them easier to lay sideways NEXT to the fuse+tail without the need to even detach the leads. If it weren't for some more recent much smaller planes with quick detach wings, I wouldn't have this complaint ;)
what about transportation to the field - not all of us have big trucks to put it in - what are your views on taking the wings on and off for transportation ??
With a drill, it wouldn't be terrible, but it would be easier with extension cords. I would make a quick disconnect if I were going to take it apart a lot.
About throttle cut off. A few times after a flight i lean over to get my plane and in doing so i move the throttle up. The plane so lunges towards me. So yea its easy to make mistakes.
YES, and that's why I pick the direction I pick (on toward by belly/chest), but even with that, it can be caught and caused to turn off...so still not perfect, but way better than nothing, if you ask me. Thanks for being here with us Alex!
Because of you I bought a plane and NX8 trans. I set everything up and customized my radio and then hung the plane upside down on the ceiling 💪 the end.
Paint does add weight to your plane... a Bowing 747 built in Seattle, will gain over 600 pounds when it goes into the paint shop.. Great video... Keep them coming
I know that this on Horizon but. I worked on T-28's. It's labled as aT-28 C. It's not the C has a tailhook. The B,C,and D had three blade prop's The A had a two blade prop.
Hey Y'all. I love your work. Thanks for all you do. I saw voice control on the NX10 when you were setting up the flight mode. How often do you use that feature, if ever?
Brian, if I wanted to use a 3 blade prop, would you recommend a 15x7 or a 16x8 prop., or stick with the prop it came with. Thanks for your help. Enjoy your videos.
We did another video (on this playlist) to cover that exact question ;) Check it out! We even show the amp draw and stuff like that, but please do check it out. This was the Unbox, Build, Radio Setup - you're looking for the last video in the playlist, I believe.
I've talked for many, many thousands of hours on UA-cam, so please forgive if I've miss-stated some details from time to time, or even make a typo on occasion. -the T-28 is from E-flite (I realize that this plane is built under the E-flite branding, which is wholly owned and operated by Horizon Hobby. We use the "Mother Ship" nomenclature and tags for E-flite so it's even easier to search on Google / UA-cam / WWW) -Carbon-Z, not Carbon Z (I don't even understand what you want me to fix here??? Who cares about a DASH?!?!?) -Sensor Assisted, not Sensor Aided (I stand corrected. I'll need to start saying it right.) -SAFE does not 'do' AS3X, they are separate (though related). (AS3X is the BASIS for SAFE. I've never said it any other way, that I know of. Maybe it was mistaken from what I said, but SAFE utilizes the AS3X data and functions to make decisions and take corrective action for auto-leveling, and many other features that we don't really get too in depth about, since they're less popular and important. Basically, all of what you're saying is totally splitting hairs, so I don't really understand why you would list these things. We're too busy to have people picking apart our every syllable - would you like it if I were to go to your channel and do the same? What does it gain either of us? We both love this hobby, and want to see if enjoyed by as many people as possible, so if you can't handle a mix up by an imperfect person, our channel is NOT for you.)
@@BrianPhillipsRC Horizon cares about the hyphen, Carbon-Z is a registered mark and should be represented correctly. Hopefully it doesn't take too much time to add it next time. AS3X isn't the basis for SAFE, and SAFE does not use AS3X data. No output data is shared, and they both produce their own output, based on IMU data and user inputs. Call it what you want, but you literally said "SAFE does AS3X", which is not true. If you're trying to present information to the hobby community you have at least some responsibility to make sure it's correct. What it gains is having the right information out there. You take the time to make these videos, but having it be correct doesn't matter? You make these statements as fact, and your viewers take them as such.
Don’t worry about guys like this! Obviously you are killing it for another youtuber to pick something petty to put in your comments! Keep making these amazing long format vids! You and “Camera crew” do an amazing job!
Hi Brian, Were you able to register this receiver online or able to update it ? I am having a very difficult time doing that. Getting an error “serial number not recognized “ any idea. I tried the spectrum / horizon hobby but not much help on this.
Hi Brian: I chatted with HH about several upgrades that didn't happen like the quick disconnect for the wings, 3 blade prop and a few other items. Their "reasoning" (such as it is) said those things were left out to keep costs down. Say what!? As it is pretty much the same as V1 except with a few minor "upgrades" like lights and gear servos(?), oh and paint. Still $649.+ for..... Disappointment is such that it's a definite no buy for me. JMO. Hope you enjoy it.
Costs get out of control real quick when shipping bloats 4-6X the price it had been pre covid...fortunately, they've come back down some, and this is one of the largest drivers of increases. Also cost of labor and materials costs in china, or wherever the plane is made. It's higher all over the world. Plus there's just delays that cost everyone a lot of money. I agree, would have liked to see these improvements too, and we did mention this, but LOOOOOOVE the plane, and so many of us never got our hands on the first one to begin with, so very glad to be flying one FINALLY. I love it!
I bought my t28 second hand. It has a 3 blade prop. Is that stock or should it be a two blade. If so, what size? The plane doesn't perform all that well with the 3 blade and it seems like it's short flights because it sucks more amps to use higher throttle than I'm used to and of course that's sucking that super juice in the batt pretty quickly.
Are you saying you'd like to see more FLIGHT FOOTAGE in FPV (First Person Viewpoint)? If so, we don't share aerial footage, since it would require Part 107, and while this rule is exceptionally idiotic, it's part of the world we live in :(... Maybe some day we can roll more of that into the videos.
@@BrianPhillipsRC some of the planes have easy hookups with multi connectors. A friend of mine has the big t28 with a multiple connector setup. He only has to plug in two things! Not sure whre he got it and he doesn't remember.
Brian, I will have to take the wings off for transport. Extreme Flight offers an MPX MULTI-Wire servo plug (3 wire) assembly for $21 each. It looks like I will need 2 of these and 4 “Y” servo wires to make this efficient. Does that seem correct?
This was sooo gooood that I streamed both videos to my big screen TV! I plan on this being my reward when I can fly without safe. What an awesome plane. If I purchase thourgh your link will I still get Horizon reward points?
We have the links in our video, but we haven't yet released it, since the Carbon Z T-28 is still back ordered ;( 15X7 Prop bit.ly/44heP6i Soft Tires bit.ly/3XFA5Ah
@@BrianPhillipsRC the PnP version is available. I ordered one Wednesday and according to the HH site it has shipped. The BNF version says Jan 2024 for next available. Weird. Those wing wires are begging for some zip tie organization. And, when I get mine, I'll be adding a short extension from the receiver to the Y connectors so there are only 4 connections to plug in every time the wings go on.
I'm not sure what you're asking? Can you try again, and I'll see if I can help. Are you asking about something like THIS... amzn.to/3JBaMJi ...a kit with an END builder?
I love both, but since this one is newer, and I've waited so dang long for one, this Carbon Z T-28 might have a SLIGHT advantage over the others. bprc.me/T28 bprc.me/CZ_Cessna150 bprc.me/CZ_Cub
You mean, like the ones I use? WIHA Metric Driver Set amzn.to/3gykJIb - They are really nice! Tom, one of our subscribers sent them as a gift, and I LOVE THEM!
I have the t28. It is a BITCH to correctly plug in all the wires at the field. From each wing there is Aileron, Flap, Retract, and Light! There ends up having a rats nest with too short wires. I'm hoping you are going to get into a multipin setup.
Absolutely... While learning much needed skills I listen for historical moments like: Brian talking about how close the holes, yet you get an entirely different reaction when you accidentally put it in the wrong hole! you could see a devilish twinkle in Brian's eye 😂 😂
We still use the NX8, very sorry! My son, uses that one. If you can't live without one, hit us up in the Email (About tab has it listed) and we can talk about it in more detail.
I get to deal with horizon hobby and hopefully they’ll take this one back and send me a replacement because this one had all kinds of damage on it when I got it smashed in foam pieces paint peeling rippling things not going together, right I have a feeling I’m in a headache.
I don't consider myself to be anything more than an "Average" RC pilot, but I DO TRY HARD and fly a LOT, but I will take your comment as a kind compliment ;)
Is the same motor like the version 1 , nothing much change - they just add lights and smart esc and receiver -the retracts on the version 1 is junk -- hopefully they dont trick the customer again
I used to be comfortable with doing it as well until I had a box with 6x 6s 5000s Para charging and had one pack go off and as I'm trying to get everything unplugged while dealing with fire.. with in about 1 min I had a full on raging fire that was feeling my house with toxic smoke so badly I couldn't see... it was really bad and totally stopped me from changing in my house and how I store lipos. Had I not see what was happening for another minute or two by then I would have had 6x 5000mah 6s packs going off... by the them I got the box outside 2 was already fully venting and shooting fire... threw the box on the ground and within 30 seconds more all 6 was going... how fast those two packs filled the front end of my house with smoke to the point I couldn't see and the fumes Burning my eyes so badly, fighting not to not breathe that smoke in... it give me a new found respect for lipos... I have literally changed 1000s and 1000s of packs and never had an issue so I was completely totally comfortable with just charging and walking away doing my work etc etc until that day. Now I charge in a 3 foot by 1.5 foot diamond plate box that I made, the packs go in the box with the leads running in thru drilled and smooth/deburred holes. If I'm paranoid charging then I run 6x leads off the Para boards and 6x extended balance leads. That way both my 412 duos, both my 24v 80 Amp power supplies and the paraboards out all outside the locked box and the cells all inside. I can charge 12x 6s 5000s in the box with room to spare, the box isn't heavy by its self and easily portable and most important protects anything around it from direct fire should a pack go off. With the longer leads if a pack goes off I can grab that lead pop it off the Para board and take that specific pack out away from the other packs without having my hands anywhere near fire throwing packs. With all those packs piled up like that I truly hope you never have a catastrophic pack failure while your sleeping or something because if you did it would be 100% out of control before you ever even knew something was happeningm

Another fantastic video and repeat radio setup. Thank you Brian Phillips RC and Megan.
Brian, you can use TBOLT connectors and that will make connecting the leads much easier, plus clean up the interior of plane.
Went through your site of course 😊
Thanks ;)
i just pulled out all my batteries and plane stuff after about a 18 month break. i didnt realize how much i have invested in the hobby. not as much as you but close. i chuckled when i seen the counter in your kitchen. youve taken valuable counter space from camera crew lol
yes, we have been trying to get this valuable prep space back for ever-since-we-built-this-house ;) LOL
Cannot wait too get another one!!! anticipating the upgrade from the last model
Brian there is someone trying to scam your viewers by pretending to be you and offering free prizes. Maybe make an announcement, they almost got me.
Now that's the plane I've been wanting to see
I enjoy watching your videos before I get a rc airplanes
We flew T-28D in SE Asia for ground support and attack. Larger engine hence the larger noise and 3 blade prop. Amazing plane!
Brian I loved the plane so much I went and ordered it through right in the middle of your vid sorry but did come back and finished watching build 😊
AWESOME! You're gonna LOVE the plane. You don't realize this (since it's not public), but we have footage coming TOMORROW for this plane - she is one of my all time favorites!
Found it! Nice job
Thanks!
Hi Brian I started out with the NX6 then went to Nx8 and added the bigger battery both transmitter been great
You are the luckiest man in the world and i'm not joking aloha bradda😂
Polycrylic is so worth doing on most foam planes i use 2 coats of high gloss and it adds strength and keeps the foam from getting dirt etched deep into the foam years from now my planes will look like new still. Now when i see a bare foam plane it looks un finished cheap n toy like.
The size of this plane is insane.
Hey Brian - at the 47:43 mark you are installing the vert stab - did HH ooops on the label for rudder server connection - why are both labelled ELEV ? LOL 😅
Thank you for making this video... just ordered at T-28 2.0 and a DX10... Hopefully UPS shows up when my wife isn't home...
AMEN!!! You aren't gonna be able to "sneak it in" - way too big!!!!
@@BrianPhillipsRC I lucked out... showed up while she was out and into the attic it went. Told her we have mice up there... good to go till I build it. Then I'm dead LOL
You guys Crack me up😆
I like to use a bit of Velcro, because using that drawer liner, I have seen straps that do not hold the battery tight if your doing 3D moves and the battery can shift or I have seen them exit the plane.

HUGE BOX HUGE PLANE JUST SWEET HOME 🏡
Because of you I bought a plane and NX8 trans. I set everything up and customized my radio and then hung the plane upside down on the ceiling 💪 the end.
Paint does add weight to your plane... a Bowing 747 built in Seattle, will gain over 600 pounds when it goes into the paint shop.. Great video... Keep them coming
FOR SURE!
I know that this on Horizon but. I worked on T-28's. It's labled as aT-28 C. It's not the C has a tailhook. The B,C,and D had three blade prop's The A had a two blade prop.
Thanks Jack!
I heard that they are coming out with a B1 Lancer RC Plane.
Hey Y'all. I love your work. Thanks for all you do. I saw voice control on the NX10 when you were setting up the flight mode. How often do you use that feature, if ever?
Voice Controls??? I don't know anything about this. Maybe I misunderstood you???
@@BrianPhillipsRC 1:50:29 Sorry, "Spoken Flight Mode", on the System setup screen. Right above the channel assign option.
Wishing I could understand what manufacturer you said you had given up on. Wasn’t able to make that out. Rewound it a good 6x.

@@BrianPhillipsRC thanks 🫡
Brian, if I wanted to use a 3 blade prop, would you recommend a 15x7 or a 16x8 prop., or stick with the prop it came with. Thanks for your help. Enjoy your videos.
We did another video (on this playlist) to cover that exact question ;) Check it out! We even show the amp draw and stuff like that, but please do check it out. This was the Unbox, Build, Radio Setup - you're looking for the last video in the playlist, I believe.
-the T-28 is from E-flite
-Carbon-Z, not Carbon Z
-Sensor Assisted, not Sensor Aided
-SAFE does not 'do' AS3X, they are separate (though related).
We use the "Mother Ship" nomenclature and tags for E-flite so it's even easier to search on Google / UA-cam / WWW)
-Carbon-Z, not Carbon Z (I don't even understand what you want me to fix here??? Who cares about a DASH?!?!?)
-Sensor Assisted, not Sensor Aided (I stand corrected. I'll need to start saying it right.)
-SAFE does not 'do' AS3X, they are separate (though related).
So big man ´Nice plane and very good video👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🫶👌👌👌👌👌
holyy man were do ya find the words i love ya guys so awsome
Thanks ;)
Hi Brian,
Were you able to register this receiver online or able to update it ?
I love it!
@@BrianPhillipsRC Just wait til we have to start paying the tariffs!
Brian I use Master Airscrew ( MA.38 16x80N01 ) on both my CZ T-28’s looks and works amazing !
I have the NX10SE. Nothing happens on the tx when I plug it in to charge. No status indicator etc.
I love your videos but it would be more interesting if you showed more of the inside of the plane
Are you going to install multipin connectors? I hope so. I need to see a video of how to do it.
I don't have plans to install any connectors. Are you talking about for quick release on the wings?
@@BrianPhillipsRC some of the planes have easy hookups with multi connectors. A friend of mine has the big t28 with a multiple connector setup. He only has to plug in two things! Not sure whre he got it and he doesn't remember.
Dumb question perhaps - can we use the Bind button for thrust reverse?
Brian, I will have to take the wings off for transport. Extreme Flight offers an MPX MULTI-Wire servo plug (3 wire) assembly for $21 each. It looks like I will need 2 of these and 4 “Y” servo wires to make this efficient. Does that seem correct?
This was sooo gooood that I streamed both videos to my big screen TV! I plan on this being my reward when I can fly without safe. What an awesome plane. If I purchase thourgh your link will I still get Horizon reward points?
Yes, if you buy through our links you still get points.

Thats how I watch too. I have a 75" Roku tv that's awesome for youtube.
What is the spec for the 3-blade prop???
We have the links in our video, but we haven't yet released it, since the Carbon Z T-28 is still back ordered ;(

@@GoofballFlyer how? There's 4 wires from each wing.
@@sailrI actually found out that a 2x4 into 1 connectors actually worked. Not sure how my original suggestion was going to work.
what multiplug connectors would you suggest using for the servos
I'm not sure what you're asking? Can you try again, and I'll see if I can help.
Are you asking about something like THIS... amzn.to/3JBaMJi ...a kit with an END builder?
I got the 8 wish I had the 10 .they should have made a nx 12. So you could run about anything
About time oh my gosh.
I after watching you video, I had to take the motor off and rerun on the wires.
Which one do you prefer between this one and the Carbon Z Cub?
I love both, but since this one is newer, and I've waited so dang long for one, this Carbon Z T-28 might have a SLIGHT advantage over the others.

Where can I get metric screwdrivers?
You mean, like the ones I use? WIHA Metric Driver Set amzn.to/3gykJIb - They are really nice! Tom, one of our subscribers sent them as a gift, and I LOVE THEM!
That think is huge! like my flex RV-8! I want one! but I'm building gassers now! 😢😭
Have you tried Frysky x20 series?
Good call sticking with the NX10
The 14 is seriously over priced for most people.
You say Nx10 but can I use a nx8?,,,, new to this hobby
I have the t28. It is a BITCH to correctly plug in all the wires at the field. From each wing there is Aileron, Flap, Retract, and Light! There ends up having a rats nest with too short wires. I'm hoping you are going to get into a multipin setup.
Prison guard here, and I'm keeping this 1 for myself!
Absolutely...
While learning much needed skills I listen for historical moments like: Brian talking about how close the holes, yet you get an entirely different reaction when you accidentally put it in the wrong hole!
you could see a devilish twinkle in Brian's eye 😂
😂
What does lock tight mean?
amzn.to/4aVuZW7 - Like this
Would you sell your NX8?
We still use the NX8, very sorry! My son, uses that one. If you can't live without one, hit us up in the Email (About tab has it listed) and we can talk about it in more detail.
I get to deal with horizon hobby and hopefully they’ll take this one back and send me a replacement because this one had all kinds of damage on it when I got it smashed in foam pieces paint peeling rippling things not going together, right I have a feeling I’m in a headache.
I'm tempted to have a resin print of my face made to replace my pilots
That would be cool!
Hey I'm #1 Again! 🤣🤣😁😎
Its November 2024
They are on CLEARANCE sale.
🤔
Only the PNP version is on clearance. BNF is still regular price... bprc.me/T28
also what size 3 blade prop do I use??
mine has the 3 blade and it under performs. I'm going to a 16x8 M.A. Classic prop next.
Do you realize how good you have to be to fly like you?
I don't consider myself to be anything more than an "Average" RC pilot, but I DO TRY HARD and fly a LOT, but I will take your comment as a kind compliment ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC it was certainly meant as a compliment! Keep up the great work you do.
Is the same motor like the version 1 , nothing much change - they just add lights and smart esc and receiver -the retracts on the version 1 is junk -- hopefully they dont trick the customer again
All those charging lipos all packed together is just begging for a mega fire
That plate is so big you can stick your thumb in the tail hole😂😂😂
Why doesn't he like the FMS 1400m? Is it because sponsor ship he has?
