- Today we cover how to properly mount an engine to a stand. This is a pretty simple process but the main thing I wanted to help out with is how to choose the right bolt. The correct size that it.

Awesome video! I never even thought to mount the plate to the motor first. 🤦🏽♂️ I’m a tiny block Honda guy without an engine hoist so this was lifesaving 🙏🏽 Thank you so much 😁
Great vid. Perfect editing and no waffle. Hero.
💪🏻💪🏻
Nice, practical demo

Thanks for the video. Doing my first car and have a replacement engine. It’s overwhelming but thankfully you posted this lol
Glad to help in any way I can!

@@Hondasonly thanks so much! Glad to have ya.
I'm gonna call you a Genius, because you found a solutions so this won't happen again, I'm glad you're OK. I totally understand why you did what you did, you're alone at the shop, time is slowly but surely passing by and bottom line you need to get shit done. Keep up the good work.
Thank you!
Was wondering just now for no reason how to bolt my engine to a stand if i take it out, 5 mins later, now I know. Thankyou.
You’re welcome, glad to help out that random thought. Lol
Hi, what are the thread size snd pitch? Thanks
Hey buddy, thanks for the video. May I ask where you bought the m10 bolt ? All the m10 I could find at Lowe’s and Home Depot are not threaded all the way like the one you have
Glad you like it! The bolts I bought we're not all the way threaded either but here ya go, I found them on Amazon: amzn.to/3H6wViA
helpfull thanks here is a new subscriber
Thanks for the sub!
Many thanks
Many welcomes
Do you have an opinion about how to "CENTER" the engine on the bracket so that when you rotate it it stays somewhat symmetrical?
This really depends on how adjustable your arms are. You need to choose the trans mounting holes that align the center Kline
Of the engine with the support post on the stand.
what microphone are you using in this video? great sound quality and very little to none echo.
Thank you! I use a Saramonic Blink 500
Is that epoxy floor?
nice! 👍
Didn't think anyone watched this video 😆Thanks for watching man.
Anyone have the bolt specs I would need for a 2006 Nissan Xterra?
Nice tutorial! Which v8 engine is that?
That is the VK56DE engine out of a first generation Nissan Titan.
Few questions,
do you need to remove the gearbox first before mounting the engine? and with the spacers is there any chance they'll bow at all or are they pretty solid?
Yes, the gearbox has to come off. As long as you get very high-quality bolts and thick spacers, your spacers should not bow or bend.
👍 excellent
Thank you.
I had to put a 1939 Buick L8 engine on a stand but I didn't trust the stand being so much shorter than the engine so I built a rolling cradle for it with left over angle iron for fire place hearths and 3/16 plate. the cast iron tranny is still attached .
Niiice
I've never done this and I'm not trying to ask stupid questions. What if you have to work on the clutch or flywheel? Do you just attach the stand to the other end of the engine?
not a stupid question! You don't know until you know!
It depends on you're situation. You cannot attach it to the other end of the engine. You need to remove the clutch and maybe even the flywheel to make the engine fit on the stand. If you are careful you can sit the engine on an old tire or do like I did. I set it up some wood blocks so support it on. Yours would have to be more study than mine since mine was just temporary untill I got it on the stand. You can see it in the very end of part 4 and the very beginning of part 5 of my engine rebuild series. Here is part 4: ua-cam.com/video/nWoINttEKZs/v-deo.html Hope this helps!
@@Rythecarguy thanks so much for the reply and link to your other video! I have a 1948 Ferguson tractor I need to work on. I'm just going to take it slow and think it through. Your info will be very helpful. Thanks again!
@@stevenandkimmetzger880 you're welcome. Best of luck! Sounds like a cool project.
Get threaded rods and nuts, not bolts, so that u can adjust the depth into the bell housing.
Sssmmmaaarrtttt I like that
What grade bolts do you recommend?
8 if you can get it
How long can you leave an engine on a stand?
Forever
Thats strange that 4 bolts and moreover the thread holes can carry the whole engine weight without breaking the block cos it is pulling downwards the one side. I would put another stand or a wood on the other side to balance the weight
👍🏻
Torque specs??
Eh, they will all be different, just tighten them down. Don't exceed the original specs of the trans to engine bolts.
@@Rythecarguy oh ok, appreciate the feedback!
I'm relieved to see someone putting an even larger engine on one of these cheesy 3 wheeled stands. I just put a fully dressed 1.6TD on one and it doesn't inspire confidence
I will say this one was home made by some dude that lived down the road and it is beefy AF it's all super strong square steel. When I first put it on I was nervous but by the time I was done it was NBD. That engine was about 550 lbs.
I can't get the arms out far enough for my 56 cadillac, hmm
I'm sorry
The biggest difference with your mount is that its one of those dangerous 3 wheelers
Worked for me homie. Engine was 570lbs
@@Rythecarguy they work but notorious for tipping
@@xESPplayer500x yikes. Good thing I scrapped it. When I buy my next one I'll get a H style one
that single center wheel is a disaster waiting to happen
good instruction on the mounting Thank you
Yes I agree. I sent it for scrap and bought a two leg
I worked with these stands for 35 years. They are junk
Cool, totally not the point of the video.
Thanks!
Thank You!
