Dude you just showed in like 2 minutes what I've been trying to figure out by reading discussion threads for two days! Great job!
Awesome man. Glad to help out.
AMEN!!!
Amazing!! I've been searching for this information for a few days as well. Thank you!!!!
I’m surprised the stand is engineered to hold that much weight on 4 bolts, awesome video it’s helped me a lot!
Thank you man!! Was on the phone for 45 minutes talking to bolt supply Co. That had no idea what I was talking about. With a HD a block away I was back in business within 10 minutes
Thanks for the video. Very helpful. If I may add a thought.... Local hardware stores are cheaper and often more helpful than the big box stores. Plus you're helping out local business when you use a local store vs. Home Depot, etc...
I must say, I like your taste in cars.
Awesome! Thank you. Perfectly delivered. 👍
Thanks, and thanks for not playing loud rap music and waving your hands around like so many guy's do in other videos.
Appreciate the feedback. Glad to help.
I’m just about to do this and can’t thank you enough for sharing this.
Thanks, you just helped me do what i been to scared to do for a year.
He explained everything really well. Good video.
Awesome video! I've pulled the engine out of my 350z, and was thinking where to mount it to the stand. Pulled it out using 4 head studs on the back of the engine, and totally forgot about the bell housing lol
Great video, very informative and to the point. I appreciate the info
This is the easiest to figure out and follow video. I think I’ve ever seen. Thank you so much for making something I have struggled to understand fairly easy to comprehend. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
I should have watched this video before I mounted my engine to the stand. Now I know how to do it right the next time. This is a great video. Thank you! 😀👍
Glad to help out!
Uh oh that doesnt sound good... any damage?
Thanks in a million. Great content. Awesome imagination. Grade: A++💥
Thanks for sharing this great and practical vídeo.
Saved me some time. Thanks for the vid!
Thanks for making this
Thanks! Just bought my first engine stand and bouts to do my first engine overhaul.
Awesome!
Thank you for this video...💯😊
Thanks, FYI a lot of tape measures have metric and standard measure like the one you are using. No need to convert. We just forget to look because we don't use it often...
Good explanation!
Thanks for the help!!!
Glad to help out!
Dude, thanks for the info, been trying to figure that my self..u made it easier for me...Ft Lauderdale..
Literally pulling the engine on my yellow 280 Z and mounting it on engine mount perfect video thank you
Awesome! Hope your Z doesn't have too much rust
thank you for the video
Smple and direct. Thans
You can also cut the bolts to length if you are opposed to using washers for whatever reason.
Thanks alot men
Putting a straight 6 in a MG, I love it!
i think thats a 240z but i could me wrong
thank you for this video! :D
My pleasure!
Great video. I work at an equipment rental store so I shouldn’t have to buy a hoist since were supposed to replace the one a customer broke before. Plan is to get my measurements tonight and put together my new stand (sold the other one bc something came up), then tomorrow or Saturday buy the hardware and rent the hoist Saturday. Hopefully the rebuild won’t be extensive, engine only has 70K but it overheated very badly due to low coolant, long story.
good to know!
u can also use a vernier caliper if you have one
HARBOR FREIGHT!
thanks for the video
the heads on those bolts read 8.8 and no radial lines, are you sure they are Grade 8 bolts?
that Datsun :):):):) very nice man! But this Engine Stand looks so damn unstabil....OMG
The problem we had with a friend's Miata project is the transmission bolts were M12 x 80 with a 1.50 thread pitch. All the part stores had M12 1.75 pitch.
Even Ace Hardware? Darn.
If those bolts are like the other Z M10 bolts the thread pattern is 1.25 which isn’t easy to locate. Most M10 bolts come in 1.5 thread.
I bought 1.25 and they didn't work FYI for a ZX block
Harbor Freight FTW!
Vernier caliper for the diameter, tap and die set should have a thread pitch tool.
i want put my stag engine on but the bolts are very thin don't think they will take weight the bolts aren't as thik as yours in vid
Crazy that i just googled how to mount an engine to stand and a yellow z car pops up. That's what I'm working on too ! 😮
I have a in-line 6 aswell the Ford 200ci to be exact. I’m really afraid the engine is to heavy for the stand because the engine is so long and the front of the motor is leaning downwards just s little. Is this normal?
First make sure the stand can withstand the weight. You may see a slight decline toward the end of the engine. You can place sand bags on the legs of the stand as a safety net.
Thought this was the guy from Clerks for a min. That voice.
My problem it's not the bolts my problem is that the engine stand can get inside enough of the engine hoist to bolt it on
Yes, it can be a little tricky sometimes.
I would have used the transmission bolts
What is the minimum number of bolts required to safely mount an engine on a stand?
Typically four. You could probably go less if the bolt is long enough and high grade but I wouldn't chance it.
Wait, so only 4 bolts hold up the engine block? 🤔
Which brand of stand ?

3 minutes in of figuring out what size bolt to use
That Stand can handle an Inlinesix.
This days, wanted tro put my Hemi on that kind of Motorstand.
I’m getting ready to put mine on it. Bare block though. I’ll put the heads on when the motors back in the car.
No thanks. I like to weld mine to the stand to make it more secure
Lol hahahahaha You got to be fucking kidding me hahahaha
...and then you weld it onto the subframe when you put it back in the car. Don't need those anoying engine mounts like everyone else uses. ... and by secure you mean using your special home made cast-iron welder bahaha
Shit v8 Horse power
Horrible and no information on weight why you mount it to the rear and it looks like the first time he did it looking at the engine stand
