These would be beautiful as appliqués for outfits. Use soft, lightweight cottons in place of paper, etc. also lightweight fusible interfacing in place of paper. A satin stitch around the edge as a finishing touch. I love your techniques.

Wandalindsay, what a kind message you left, I hope your arm is healed and you are crafting your little heart out as I know this video is a few months old. 🙏 😊
I'm enjoying your tutorials because of the step-by-step process, and what set you apart for me is that you were not afraid to say you did or didn't enjoy the process or the finished work. You LOVED some pieces & not liking so much others. It gets me out of the "everything has to be perfect" frame of mind and puts me into a "let's explore together" perspective, which helps me relax & enjoy. Thank you! Teri C. Indiana, USA
Thank you 👌you were a delight to watch and listen to 👍❤My favourite was the beautiful tree and I plan to make one and also one from my stack of photos as well🥰
❤Thank you so much for sharing. Taking us through the process one step at a time really helped. Love that I now have another way to use up the small scraps that I treasure. I would like to try making luggage tags, but I know paper wouldn’t hold up, but maybe it could be a beginning step. Any thoughts on what I could use on the back to make it durable? Also could you recommend a liquid sealer or glue for the front to make it durable as well? Any thoughts from others would also be appreciated. 😊😊❤

Absolutely gorgeous! I love this idea for using my fabric scaps! I will definitely make some for my journals. I was thinking while watching your tutorial that doing several in a stocking shape would be nice for Christmas. I thought I'd attach a felt backing to make a pouch for filling them with candies or treats for the residents at my nearby retirement center. They'll make perfect "random acts of kindness" gifts! Thank you for sharing your amazing creativity. 🫶

I love that idea! Will have to work that up for next Christmas. I was thinking stocking shape as well but couldn’t figure out how to make it a stocking nor who to give them too. Thank you.
It’s amazing what I’ve gotten done in less than an hour!!! I grabbed my stack of scraps and my sewing machine and I’ve had a fun time creating! So far I’ve had the most fun with the hearts and the trees!!!
Подскажите пожалуйста а потом готовые сердечки и деревья Вы где используете? Или другие предложенные варианты? Мне понравилось всё! Но что с ними потом я буду делать как смогу сшить все?❤😂😊😮
Thanks, Natasa This is so creative! Two recommendations I would offer: 1) dust out the bobbin area so that paper scraps don't clog the machine, and 2)it's easier to cut fabric with dedicated scissors because paper tends to dull scissors faster than fabric.
I was thinking of that, but was wondering because I would also be cutting the paper as well as the fabric. I have a wonderful pair of fabric scissors and don’t think I ever want them to touch paper. 😊
So fun! You have a good design eye. Love your free and easy attitude towards your work. Makes it more fun. THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR IDEAS AND TALENT.
Don't forget you can sharpen scissors by cutting aluminium foil repeatedly. Maybe just sharpen some regular scissors for this job, if you don't want to risk expensive shears
I have followed you for the longest time. However, I have yet to make my own journal. But…I just ordered your book, so I feel you will be in my studio room beside me to guide me. I’m so excited. This tutorial has inspired me to begin my junk journal journey at age 76. I appreciate the detailed instructions you provide. Thank you very much. ❤️❤️❤️
This is a great project for using up scraps. It's also a stress free way to practice sewing around curves or using a decorative stitch without worrying about ruining a project or having to pick stitches to start over. Unlike a blouse or a hand bag these can be made perfectly imperfect love it!
You’ve done it again! 😃 I Love that you’re always bringing us projects “thinking outside the box” …. This is Amazing! Just yesterday I was decluttering and having a hard time parting with a few of my late mom’s favorite blouses ..(because they remind me so much of certain special moments)…so I decided I was going to cut off some scraps to stick in my journal. This idea is perfect .. I can make them into a heart or butterfly shape instead …making them even more meaningful…Thank you! ❤❤❤
To make the sewing process faster, lower feed dogs and switch to a free motion foot. Also, you could substitute the paper for thick embroidery interfacing (non- bonding). You then can sew your design directly onto a quilt that can be washed - but be sure to sew all the corners down in your piece to avoid loose fabric.
I simply LOVE your tutorials. I find that when I watch some tutorials, they tend to be very difficult for me to follow. But when I watch your videos, your step by step instructions are so easy to follow. You are also very focused on what you are doing and not a lot of unnecessary talking. I’ve already made a journal following one of your tutorials. I’m definitely going to make a few of these!!!
You could also make these into gift tags/ornaments by attaching a loop of ribbon at the top. As always, thank you for the tutorial and for the inspiration.
That would be good. Although people just throw a tag in the bin and you could just have a plain one and spend the time with your family instead. Like I can ser this being a fun thing for kids to make to pass the time but I can't see why an adult would do it unless at a nursing home to keep them busy. 🤔 there are so many things an able bodied adult could be doing with theie time to contribute to society than playing with scraps to make these.
@@PadraigpI mean, they’d be reusable so people wouldn’t have to worry about running out of tags. Very practical for Santa. You could even glue/sew a vinyl pouch on so people can address it to anyone. Or just use whiteout. Or embroider/ paint their names if you’re going to give them gifts next year too.
This idea is great. I love all your tutorials, especially this one. I was having trouble finding lilac butterfly towels for my bathroom. So I'm going use your idea, but attach it to cloth instead of paper. And I'll use your patch work idea with various different styles of lilac, purple. Then sew them onto the towels. Thank you so much for all your marvelous ideas. I don't miss a one.
Hey Natasha, stunning as usual. You're always on point, you never miss 🥰 What I love about your channel is that you make everyone feel included even if you don't have all the things. You always show ways to do something if you dont have sewing machine, or a scoreboard, etc. Thank you for that. Thanks for saying you find stuff when thrifting and in bargain bins, cause that make a person like me feel okay about not buying digitals and stuff. Anyway, you are the bees knees to me 💜 see you in the next video ✌🏾
I absolutely love this project! I think the butterflies and trees are my favorite. I am definitely going to try this project myself. I thought maybe a teapot would be nice too. Thanks Natasha for another great idea.
What would you do with a load of random butterflies and mushrooms or tea pots? I mean it looks fun but then you've got a box of mushrooms instead of a box of scraps. And that doesn't seem a whole lot better.
They could be used…🤔 let your imagination flow! Appliqué on clothing, pillows, quilt blocks, a journal cover, mixed media art project. They could be framed to create a scenery, a tree branch with butterflies gathered as decor. They could be gifted or sold- some people would love that item for their creative process but maybe don’t want to make it. That’s just a few thoughts, I’m sure there’s many more options🤪 ❤️😀
I’ve been following you for a couple of years now, and every project is as exciting to me as your first one! Thank you for your creativity and inspiration 😊
absolutely love this. it goes right along with how I use up tiny scraps of fabric, to make new fabric on fusible interfacing. love scraps of fabric projects
The next level of amazingness... :) The mushrooms and hearts are my favorites in this video. The elongated heart (the one with the pocket) inspired me to make similar combos in various proportions (for now -- just templates for them). The point about focal points is especially useful for me (anything could be pulled to the extra height with those). And the writing visible through the shear fabric in the tag actually inspired me to repeat that - find a nice quote and cover it with semi-transparent fabric. Thanks!! 🍄♥
The circle reminds me of my mother's hand stitched Victorian crazy quilts. Just beautiful layers of rich fabrics. I LOVE your method as I never had the patience my mother did.😊 And I really like that you draw what you want to make these. I truly enjoy how you re-imagine the arts❤❤❤ Just FAB dear lady!!
These are beautiful! I do not sew, but I think quite a few of these ideas can be made from paper as well! The butterflies are amazing! Thank you so much for sharing your talents with us!
I just love this idea. I am currently making a family history cookbook for my grandsons and the tree will be an excellent idea for the cover of the book which will signify a family tree. Thank you for such a detailed step by step tutuorial.
So much fun and reminds me of the crazy quilts my grandmother made. Such treasures to have now that she’s gone. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us once again. 💜
I love watching you! You are not like alot others and just following what everbody else is making right now. You come up with your own ideas and they are si refreshing! You are a ttrue aetist! Not just a crafter. Thank you soooo much sharing your creativity! I am also a quilter. I love the crazy quilt looks of these projects. I used to quilt with mom before she passed. I have lots of pics with her quilting. These have inspired me to make a journal that includes the pics and the quilted shapes.i think i will do mine on the paper we use to paper piece so i could then apply to more fabric on back so i ciuld quilt them by hand then apply the cardstock on the back. You have totally inspired me!!!!!
These are so cute and just awesome!!!! I don’t know why I’m so in love with this idea. I have made shapes like this with paper bits and I liked them a lot, but these look like little tiny quilts. Thank you so much for coming up with this idea. I am gonna have to make a tree! I even have some of the big butterflies from Dollar Tree. I love, love, love your channel!
This is just the reason I love my UA-cam. I can just have a look at something that ‘pops up’ on my screen and lo and behold I’ve found TREASURE!! INSPIRATION!! Thankyou for this, lovely, lovely, lovely. I know I can do this ok, it’s not something that’s difficult and will take ages to do. In fact, I can feel a PJ day coming on…… I’ll just bury myself in my sewing room, a nice Agatha Christie audio book or nice bit of music……. the sky’s the limit 😍. So, again I say ‘thankyou very much’. I can use a bit of interfacing instead of paper and put lovely shapes in my needle case books.
You sound exactly like like myself…..a good ol Murdering of Roger Acroyd or a trip on the Orient Express and I can bury myself in my sewing nook with this lovely, easy but gorgeous project. Love it, good luck to you.
As always, so inspiring! I'm thinking Christmas shapes for a holiday journal - stockings, pine trees, bells, etc. I was also thinking basic cookie cutters (maybe enlarged) would be good inspiration for shapes. I keep thinking you will need to do a 2nd book at some point with your ideas since your first one came out (which I love!), and the anticipation is exciting (please!). Thanks so much Natasa for being so generous in sharing your ideas!!
Love these! I'm really getting into collaging with paper and fabric, snippet rolls, masterboards etc, and now I can add this to my range. Everything you made here is just perfect! I loved the tree best of all.
I never have to ask any questions with your tutorials, you cover everything i great details! well done! Thank you for sharing your ideas with us. I always feel inspired after watching your videos! please never stop!
I love that you came up with a project idea and ran with it, making lots of shapes and many pieces. This video came at the perfect time as I was trying to make snippet rolls with my fabric scraps. I wasn't enjoying the restriction of making the item into a long strip and of course I just ended up with even more scraps (just smaller pieces 😅) I should comment after watching the whole video; I loved this project and will be making the butterflies first as they were my favorite
Hi Natasha these are amazing I can't wait to try making some. I think they would also look beautiful on a piece of canvas..you could make a scene from the different shapes..ie.. a house, tree, sun etc..
Loving this idea!! I have a ton of Christmas ribbons and I might make some of these in the shapes of stars, bells and round ornaments. Looking forward to trying this!!
I love them all, but especially the tree and butterflies. I have plenty of scrap fabric and lace that I can make some of these. Thank you, Natassa, for sharing and teaching how to make them. 🙂❤️
Oh WOWEEEEE!!!!!!!!! These are adorable, I have crates of materials from doing quilts and slow stitching, this has given me hope to use them up, I will give some to Good Will but keeping the nicest ones to create these beautiful items youv'e made, especially those butterflies. Thankyou for showing this. x
Great project!! People could start a fun swap project and collect them with each other!!!! Write a note..message..poem..beautifulllllllllll saying..inspiration!!!!thank you for being so clever i love you things..your the best😊
I could see these on garments. Would be lovely on a denim jacket, a skirt, vest, many things. Even on a purse or shopping bag to make them distinctive and special. But I love them on the journal too! Just delightful and most create people have those scraps.
Lovely project. I enjoyed your step by step process. I’m a quilter and this gives me the idea to make a book for my grandson. He’s 8 months old and he loves books. Thank you so much for sharing your time and talents. ❤❤❤
I am speechless with every project you do…your creativity is amazing. Thank you for sharing your process. I love the little tips you share, for instance how to pull the threads through. I knew about that because I see, but others may not. It’s so great that anyone watching with different skill sets, can still participate. My favorites? That is really hard, but probably the tree, mushrooms, the circle with the boho look, the mushrooms, the tags…well, I guess I love them all. I wish each day was 48 hours long! ❤
Natasha, you have such cool projects and tutorials! I love this idea of using fabric scraps and paper to make shapes. The ideas are endless. My favorite shape is a tie between the mushrooms and the butterfly that you did in strips. TFS❤
It's very nice idea, love it, I have done it before with all of my journals in many ways, and it's nice to let you use your leftover fabric . But still I like your inspiration.
Oh my! What a fantastic idea and tutorial!! Thank you so very much for sharing. My granddaughters will absolutely love this project. You can do so much with these, turn into ornaments, put magnet on back , even a garland make them seasonal they will be so excited! Thanks again for sharing! The butterflies and hearts are my favorites!

This was fabulous. I'm thinking of adapting this lovelie art form to make place mats. Wouldn't they be beautiful in the table seeing.

Es la primera vez que veo tus videos y es hermoso e inspirador lo que haces. Muchas, muchas gracias por compartir,
Favorite Boho circle and mushrooms. Such good instructions and tips. TY.
I wasn't enjoying the restriction of making the item into a long strip and of course I just ended up with even more scraps (just smaller pieces 😅)
I should comment after watching the whole video; I loved this project and will be making the butterflies first as they were my favorite
I love all your videos, but this one is my latest favourite. Thank you Natasa!
I love this! Can't wait to get started! I also fussy cut both ways too. Thank you so much for all your inspiring, fun ideas! ❤
Bonjour Natacha and groupes😁🇨🇦 Awww those are so cute , thanks for the great insperation idée I love love love 💕
Hi Natasha these are amazing I can't wait to try making some. I think they would also look beautiful on a piece of canvas..you could make a scene from the different shapes..ie.. a house, tree, sun etc..
My favorite is the butterfly. I have done some crazy quilting fabric things and this reminds me of that. They are great
Loving this idea!! I have a ton of Christmas ribbons and I might make some of these in the shapes of stars, bells and round ornaments. Looking forward to trying this!!

I could see these on garments. Would be lovely on a denim jacket, a skirt, vest, many things. Even on a purse or shopping bag to make them distinctive and special.
But I love them on the journal too! Just delightful and most create people have those scraps.
Justo estaba visualizando esa idea en los bolsos de compras. Hermosos!
Wow!!! Fantastic idea again Natasia!!! Do I have any fabric scraps???? 🤔. Oh, possibly enough to supply all your viewers 😂.
Also this is an amazing idea to keep safe sentimental scraps I can’t bear to throw/give away. Thank you ❤.
Beautiful items! Thanks for sharing yet another great idea. It uses scraps, so that's awesome, too.
Ironically your first heart is one of my favorites. It reminds me of a warm winter ❄️ sweater

That is so clever ! I absolutely love it. You are so very creative and kind enough to share it with others ❤
Wonderful way to use fabric scraps and your process is user friendly!
Those look like fun!
Lovely project. I enjoyed your step by step process. I’m a quilter and this gives me the idea to make a book for my grandson. He’s 8 months old and he loves books. Thank you so much for sharing your time and talents. ❤❤❤
I especially like the tree and mushrooms! These will make great journal toppers. Thank you for sharing your idea!
Oops..I mean I “see.” I always leave typos!
Natasha, you have such cool projects and tutorials! I love this idea of using fabric scraps and paper to make shapes.
The ideas are endless.
My favorite shape is a tie between the mushrooms and the butterfly that you did in strips.
TFS❤
