    I love that young man. Even though I am not an African from the continent, neither have I ever visited the mother land, I have a great respect for the land of my ancestors and its people, and I try to follow the most important events affecting the lives of African people, whether in a positive or a negative way. Wode Maya makes an effort to project an image of Africa that we normally don't see on the traditional media, especially by Western charities that have made a big money-making machine out of the poverty of the African people.

    Probably the best video Wode Maya has ever made. Practical. Down to earth. Real people using African public transport and still feeling okay. Not once is word ‘millionaire’ mentioned in the video. There are people with no aspiration or capacity to be millionaires, but want inspiration to still come back home. This video is for them. This broadens the appeal of your agenda, Wode Maya. Respect.

    • @muchit3629
      @muchit3629 Рік тому +2

      The one thing I find nauseating is the constant mention of millionaires and billionaires in some videos by some of our African bloggers.
      That is a foreign concept and very materialistic. People are people and do. Oz derive their views from the trinkets they own or can afford.
      What should matter is a man or woman who is a brother or sistet,sister, keeper. Sadly we are slowly bit surely losing some of our essence by too much focus on money.
      The issue I have is if we overemphasize money then we end with corrupt leaders and populace who want to get a dollar whatever the cost to overall society.

    Wode Maya is the brainchild of the Africa to the world movement and no one does it better. He has indeed motivated other UA-camrs to take the baton and also promote the good things about the continent in their own way.
    I can relate to this piece, having returned back home to Ghana after living in the States for approximately 30 years. I can say, without a shadow of doubt that the best thing I did was returning to my country at the time I did.
    I can't conclude my comments, without giving kudos to the brilliant editing process involved in making this video. Specifically, Wode Maya's ability to incorporate relevant stories of the woman's experiences from her channel into his story telling makes the video more poignant and apropos.

    This was great to watch. I'm 47 year old who's in the process of moving back to Zimbabwe. 3 year timeline to get things sorted at home. With so many of us going home, I see an opportunity that could be good.
    Those returning can be a bridge between ppl in the diaspora looking for ppl to work with on projects at and locals looking for customers/employment. We can create our own employment if we have ppl on the ground to work with. Its an opportunity.
    Just something to think about

    Let us build Africa. Remember that it is hard work. It is not supposed to be easy. Let us put the work hours required. Those great nations & places we admire were built by their owners through great effort and sacrifice. It was not easy. Self-hate is one the biggest obstacles we face. Let us love our leaders inspite of their weaknesses and let us resolve to do better than them but building on the foundations they laid. Let us not curse our leaders. Thank you Kaya's Gogo for the bold move to return.

    im from SA and zimbabwe is a beautiful place no doubt with serious political problems and history of unrest . Mugabe was one of the greatest leaders in africa with a backbone against the west and a lot of us south Africans lived in Harere during our liberation struggle against apartheid. Over 6mil Zimbabweans live abroad because of the political situation and theres atleast 1 mil Zimbabweans in SA alone. It is a crime to speak against corrupt practices or the current govt which is a terrible throwback of mugabe s old govt.
    Zimbabwe is still a great place but unfortunately most locals barely make ends meet and are supported by their relatives in diaspora who in most cases have done really well overseas. Zimbabweans are very smart & hardworking.... its well known that most of whom left are doing very well abroad as medicall practitioners , scientists , technologists, Corporate executives in multinational companies..
    Great show Wodemaya . If we are being honest .., I sympathize with Zimbabweans because its hard to ask Zimbabweans who left with nothing and have become very comfortable to come back and risk it all with no path to sustainability. It helps to go back if you have built a safety net, but what if u havent ??? the govt has also dealt zimbabweans a very bad hand for too long .... I think thats the fear which most wont tell u openly on camera...

      What an indictment! Where there is no vision the people perish. The geriatrics want to misrule to the grave. The gentleman hit the nail on the head. Maintaining the status quo has a coterie of beneficiaries and powerful gate keepers who see no evil and hear no evil. I hope his sensitivity of injustice and inequality remains heightened, for any society to develop it needs more well to do people who think like him on this.
