Amazing video, I agree with most of your points. The only reason I feel a new user should go with a popular distro is the ease of installation and the community support.
I use Manjaro but never recommend it to new users or veterans. It has what I need and over the years I've learned how to fix whatever breaks (and oh it does break) but I am happy with it. New users get Mint or Kubuntu if they come to me.

I appreciate your stopping by; and your input! Ohhh good ol' manjaro! I miss it sometimes lol

Nice video, and good points👍 I just changed back to linux yesterday from windows. Had windows for a while because of adobe subscription but now I'm free again.😅

Oh the struggle is real with Adobe for sure. I fought that same battle too. I know it's a pain to learn new softwares, but there are some really good ones out there that I've come to love!
      Welcome back!

Arch isn't as big and scary as they make it out to be. It used to be that yes, you had to do everything 100% manually; and it was a learning curve.
But today, once you boot in, just type " archinstall " and press enter. It'll provide you with a menu to follow and you'll be installing in a matter of maybe 5 minutes. My only tip would be to try and track down the package names from the Arch Wiki of any software you'd like to have installed during OS installation. It'll save you some time in the long run. Just input the list of packages (with no commas) into the "additional packages" section. It'll check to see if they're available, notify you if something isn't and adjust the list to exclude said missing package automatically, press enter again and it'll route you back to the menu to complete installation.
I've got a pretty poor installation guide for this somewhere on my channel. Not hard to find though as I'm new to the Linux YT scene =).
Working on rendering out a video regarding a rather crazy change I hadn't anticipated making! Exciting stuff!.
      Enjoy the ride!

If arch is the cool kid in the back of the bus, Gentoo is the kid who's walking home

Nothing wrong with Gentoo. Personally I'm trying to figure out the new cool kid on the block NixOS. I'm not hugely familiar with immutable systems, but I've committed it to hardware to learn.

and NixOs is the kid riding home on the dirt bike he built in his dads garage.
