When TecToy brought Sega consoles to Brazil they did an amazing job. We had games that wasn't avaliable anywhere else. In a place that was plagued by Grey market and game piracy it was a Labor of love.
Really, this is more a case of what happens when you license your wares to those that capitalize on it in their own way. At least America had it pretty consistent.
@@gchijioke12 yep, it was super popular. But it's not been in production for a few years now, despite an impressive run that had it being sold as long as in the 2010s.
Back then TecToy was huge in BR, Gugu used to advertise many of their toys on the TV, I had a PenseBem and ArmaTron; I don't think Gugu ever said 'Sega' it was always 'Master System by Tectoy' or 'MegaDrive by Tectoy', poor Sega lol
At the time I got a Japanese Mega Drive, since it was much less expensive. Plus it's prettier and it was pretty easy to mod it to support American and pirated cartridges.

It's a real jungle hahaha I live in Brazil and it's not easy to live with a stupid market that consumes 10 to 1000 times the cost of physical or digital products. I would say that there is no freedom due to the high cost of everything. This is our main reason for backwardness. I believe that the market reserve since the 90s has been manipulated to have a fraction of freedom of consumption. I see technology as financial rape and decrepit and too stupid to realize that opening up technology factories or purchases to everyone within the country at the same cost as other nations, everyone in Brazil, including the salaries of even those who impede growth, would be 100 times more while incompetent and stupid governments are in control. We will have another 40 years of backwardness, just like in the 80s.

Hello from Ottawa ! I love the Master System !
It's got some really unique good games on it. Well worth visiting its library. Cheers from Montreal!
