Hey Elizabeth and Julia! I love both of your channels. I wanted you both to know that I absolutely adore learning more about voice from people like you two who are passionate about it.
I am not a singer, and I have no intentions of going into a music career or anything, but even so I am enthralled with learning about vocal production and health, and how these people are making the sounds that they make. Thank you for sharing your insights to all of us. It's truly amazing.

I spoke to Julia very briefly and she seems like a pretty cool person. Her channel is really good, definitely worth checking out.
A lot of the breath control talk is also what you study when doing Tai Chi. My teacher has spoken many times about it and the few times I've gotten the breath control right everything feels connected and "magical"

@@TheCharismaticVoice ok. I listened to both now. Yt vid and podcast. Editing on podcast really did help make it a podcast. (The bits from this tea-time which were left out of the podcast really added to this video.) I’ll be enjoying both in future. (If only for chat (replay or in premiere)) The podcast gives me a better opportunity to “listen” to the story.

Always love when people who are really good at their thing, and very passionately can talk about their topic and make others feel an intense desire to know more. When said professionals also have very good chemistry with the person they talk to it becomes magic. And there was much giggling and joy. ;) Would also love to hear Elizabeth interviewing Julia.

Great interview. But didn’t know you had grown up here in Washington. It’s a beautiful state. I lived here as a young kid, after which our family moved around a bunch, before finally returning here which we had always hoped to do. We left our heart in Washington.
Your grandfather was in barbershop quartet, you were an Opera Singer, and you grew up working your family's orchard...

You should both check out, Lola Montez, by Volbeat. They are a Danish rock band with a lead vocal, Michael Poulsen, who has a very unique voice. One of my personal favorites in rock music. Sometimes similar to Elvis depending on what song he is singing.

Used to have a work colleague, before he left to pursue music specifically opera. Started learning locally, before moving over to Italy, ended up in the Chorus Line / choir? With one of the smaller opera houses. He did end up as a principal artist.

Glad you like your tea. Admiral Janeway's having a rough go of it lately with giving up coffee for her health- doctor's orders .So she's now a teetotaler.
Around the 1:20 mark, they are discussing why Elizabeth's content is so successful. But I feel like the one point they don't make, that for me is equally important (or even more so?), is that Elizabeth has a joy and child-like curiosity about discovering new music that just isn't found or matched by other reactionary content creators. It permeates everything she does and is so endearing. I have quickly become a fan. Not just because of the information in and of itself, but because of the feel-good delivery in which information is provided by her. Elizabeth is such a gift to humanity. She just exudes kindness, vulnerability and a sense of wonder about the music she experiences for the first time. She's a breath of fresh air in what I feel is currently an extremely cynical and jealous society. I only wish I'd discovered her content much sooner.
My two fav talents for vocal analysis. Many hours spent learning from both, from my very "pedestrian" place. I'm a tourist. This made me smile. My mostly stay in my lane but Irish Serb inner raging Hulk even agrees. What a delight.
I have tinnitus and I discovered that if I insert extremely efficient earplugs while in a bar I can hear pretty well any conversation that are almost whispering in the noisy atmosphere. Otherwise everything is smashed together and I can't differenciate between any sounds making it impossible to follow a conversation. The high pitch sounds are totally erased with those earplugs.

Yeah absolutely, I'm trying to push for it on Epica's Patreon as well, they are suspiciously tight lipped around the subject, which might be a good sign.
From what Elizabeth said in response to someone asking for a Bruce Dickinson tea time a while back, I gather a lot of the big artists don’t want to give interviewers more than about 30 minutes of their time. Obviously the tea time format requires 2+ hours, and many artists simply won’t give that time if they’re not in need of publicity.
