I coached Julia a few times when she was studying at Wales International Academy of Voice. She was extremely shy but this talent was just bubbling under the surface. Well done to her for what she’s currently doing in the singing world.
Thanks, dear Jeffrey!
If memory serves me right Dame Kiri Te Kanawa met her in Wales also and got her interviews for Guildhall and the Royal college of music. If I am right Julia became Dame Kiri's protégé!!
I loved how relaxed and effortless Ms Lezhneva appeared to be while singing. I had a classical voice training and know only too well what hard work it is to sing like that: it takes incredible core strength and incredible focus. She's amazing, and a joy to watch.
Yes! More reactions to classical singing, please 😍
100%
I agree!
Yes please
I love her. She's pretty perfect.
Tremendous grace, power and confidence!
Always amazing to me how operatic breathing makes it like the sound just pours out. It's magical.
Yulia is very talented! Julia has a very soft, mobile soprano voice, with a huge range!
Julia Lezhneva est magnefique💖💖💖💖💖
Yeah, opera singers are incredible.
I’m in music school and I sing this aria!! The cool thing about da capo arias like this one is when the A section returns, you write your own ornaments/embellishments to make it sound different from the first time around as well as show off technical skill! So the last third of this aria (and other da capo arias) can sound completely different depending on the singer!
Yes! I always loved that too
@@Tarasimonstudios some of the terminology you used is very questionable and calls into doubt how much you really know...
I'm sooo happy you reacted to this video! I love this Aria so much! Also, another fact was that she was ONLY 21 when she sang this! Her tone and sound are already connected soo well at that young! She is 33 now. INSANE!!!
Tak śpiewała, kiedy miała 21 lat. A teraz to już diva z uśmiechem jak z obrazów L. da Vinci.
Such effortless coloratura! Absolutely magnificent! The body is working hard but she appears to do it so easily. Top of her game!
I’m obsessed with ensemble members expressing appreciation and being impressed with the soloists they’re playing with. It just makes me so happy!
Julia is my favorite soprano with a similar fach. I am a professional coloratura soprano, and I absolutely love her rendition of Mozart’s exsultate jubilate. BTW-when I sing long runs, it’s just one long, well-supported breath. No extra movement with each note-then it sounds as free-flowing as possible. 😊
Did you notice the absence of a microphone too? They have to be heard OVER an orchestra from the back of an opera house! It's mind boggling (and almost deafening) to be near one when they're doing their thing!🤩
@@Baker17779 no. The stage is mic'd when the venue is outside but other than that microphones are usually not being used. The concert venues are built to carry sound to everyone in the audience and opera singers know how to sing with as many overtones as possible so the frequencies carry better. I'm a studied classical singer and used to work in many concert venues (some of the biggest in Europe) when I was still a student.
@@Spo-Dee-O-Dee yes but to record not to amplify her singing.
I once had the otherworldly luck to hear Jessye Norman sing the "Four last songs" with Celibidache in Munich. She sang over an orchestra of 120 instruments easily - at one point 14 seconds with one breath! (You can proof it for yourself on the record she made with Kurt Masur.)
@@Simplenotion How much ignorance there is regarding Opera singers, the acoustics of theaters and recording methods in rooms.
they always sing in a place with good acoustics that naturally amplify the voice, and its not a huge orchestra, is=ts a small baroque ensemble and those instruments are not loud
SHE IS VERY CLEVER HOW SHE SINGS, SHE KNOWS HOW TO DO TRICKS WITH HER VOICE, VERY GOOD.
I’ve be mildly obsessed with that recording longer than I’d like to admit
INCREDIBLE! Makes me want to catch my breath just listening to her go on and on.
I burst into tears because I didn't know how to cope with the emotions coming from my stomach an chest (sounds strange even to me). oh my God, that was fantastic, feeling her singing in my every single cell❤
I enjoyed listening to you enjoy and appreciate her performance, artistry, and skill!
More opera please!
you commented about very many parts, but if we were honest, that was sooooo extremly well done EVERY second, we/you could go again through this piece and add one shout outs after the other about all the many moments you haven't mentionned yet at this first round.
At some seconds I had instant tears in my eyes at amazing retardos or how you call this (I am not an active musician, just 30 years ago a bit).
This was almost too good. I think she hasn't had any other life beside practicing, when she studied and practiced this piece.
singing is her chosen life: lucky we who can enjoy her music
She's awesome! Such a beautiful tone to her voice, and so nimble, in the way she negotiates those trills without ever seeming lost or rushed. And such a stylish Handelian. Thank you Tara for giving us some opera, that is not Nessun Dorma or the Queen of the Night. Handel wrote such great music for the voice, and particularly these ebulliently joyful arias. We are so used to having whatever music we want on demand these days, it's difficult to imagine what hearing an aria sung like this, with full orchestra, must have sounded like in the theatre, to those fortunate enough to be there, in the first half of the C18th. Magical, I'm sure.
What a beautiful voice she has! She's really good!
As usual Tara you inform us by getting viewers to appreciate the skill involved in Opera. You know someone is skilled vocally when just by listening to the sound you are impressed..
FINALLY some classical singing. Especially baroque coloratura. It makes musical theatre, pop, ANYTHING, just so boring in comparison. Nothing compares to this level of skill.
You can ask this classical singer to singe some metal a full concert and we'll se how she will be doing, probably ruin her voice in a minute, lol.
@@yogajedi3337 there’s more to singing that just singing loud 🤷♂️
@@stewart335 You got it upside down. In metal, pop and most other genres singers are amplified, how else can they be heard, you don't need to be loud.
It is in opera-classical singing you have to be loud, for real.
@@yogajedi3337 i was more referring to the exaggerated style in how metal singers sing. It can be very taxing on the voice. I know opera singers don’t use amplification. I write opera, I’ve studied opera. I will always value opera singers more. You can’t just wake up one day and do what they do
@@stewart335 Trained opera singers are trained into shout as loud as possible with a solid voice so they can endure bursting out loud a couple of hours performances a couple of times a week for an entire season. It's more of a physical event than being a talented singer, If you are not born with a DNA sturdy big voice you only will waste your time training.
When you even can't sing ordinary pop-contemporary music well you ALWAYS, if you have the big voice, can aspire for a career in opera.
It's not a coincidence the worst singers, any genre, you'll find on the opera stages,. Almost none of them would pass first round even in the cheapest talent show, lol.
The boned bustier-style bodice is actually very helpful in operatic singing as it gives more resistance to expand against, especially the expansion that engages across the back ribcage. She is not breathing high at all. Vibrato isn't manufactured. Maybe you're referring to the coloratura and repeated staccato passages? She has lovely correct trills as well, which is refreshing.
yes lots of trills in the song, and singers always add extras in Handels music
I'm so glad you made a reaction video on this! It's one of my particular favorite song in classical music! Been watching your videos in UA-cam too! More reactions to classical music pls! 💖💖
I love how joyful you are!! I used to be a countertenor... amateur!! Then cancer happened...now I'm kinda sorta a baritenor--ish. You are great to watch and listen to.
This was one of my "party pieces" as a young soprano. Still love it!
Wonderful singer agile and seemingly effortless!
I have uploaded several arai's from Julia on my baroque channel. I have my favorite sopranos and mezzo-sopranos, but Julia is one of the best.
When thee mentioned Julia Mikhahlovna's engaging with the other players, I was reminded of a performance of "The Trumpet Shall Sound" one of the big bass arias from "Messiah" (another Haendel greatest hit!). After the recitative and during the trumpet solo before the aria actually started, the singer actually turned his back to the audience and faced the trumpeter, like, "Hey people! I'm not the only artist here!" I thought that was so cool of him.
LOVED this!! I am a Dimash Dear- but just lover of music and appreciate the HARD work that goes to singing so well! Such control!! Thank you! :-)
I love Dimash!
Tara, your passion and competence go together so well with classical pieces! Thank you! I'm reminded of a quote by Joyce DiDonnato. She said something along the lines of singing coloratura is the controlled loss of control.
Julia Lezhneva is my favorite classical soprano at the moment. Ever since I watched her "Laschia chio pianga", I was smitten and transported.

4:25 The pitch precision is her bread and butter. I don't care your vocal genre, if you have mastered excellent pitch it is priceless.!
4:11 The harpsichord player is also conducting the orchestra. Nuts!
5:51 The violinist that was so excited might be the lead violinist and she was so delighted at the excellence of Julia's preformance.
High-level musicians really look forward to working with high-level singers. It's mutual excellence working to create something greater than the seem of its excellent parts.
Julia is truly an elite vocalist!

My favorite Aria from Giulio Cesare!!
Just amazing.
Wow!! What a so beautiful voice!! 🎶💗🎶
Have a perfect way to breathing and control....she singing with a way hits the notes soft and she low full up her down notes softly....she is an amazing voice and her way to.....this voice have lot experience and of work.....
Truly amazing, so beautiful
Обожаю Юлию Лежневу !! Считаю ее одной из лучших оперных певиц!!!!
Thanks, dear Larisa!
Да! А эта ария вершина её мастерства! Она здесь просто летит, вдохновлённая музыкой и собственным голосом. Юлечка, спасибо!
You really should check out her version of Pergonesi's Stabat Mater, with countertenor Philippe Jaroussky. Gorgeous!
Love Julia Lehzneva!!!!

Thank you, Tara! 😃really enjoy your insight.
my left ear enjoyed your commentary
Yes! Great!👏👏👏 Congratulations! ❤
ua-cam.com/video/wlFNcIvX9ro/v-deo.html
Wow, I loved this!!!
Hi Tara, You have to go to the music school. Julia Lezneva is not only the opera singer- she is a professional advanced piano Player. The Vatican gave her the highest award toward her talelents and the contribution to the music. Please hold your weak horses.
In Carlo il Calvo, at the end she sings like this and pretty much does the Charleston at the same time.
Julia Lehzneva is famous for singing in these corsets. I don't know how she does it. I've tried to sing in a corset before and I absolutely could not sing any of my high notes 😂
She is perfect
Not gonna lie, my jaw dropped a bit at you perfectly mimicking that scale at 1:53. 😮 Nice!
Awe thanks!
Yes, i am really impressed by your beautiful voice agility too !
Classical vibrato is not diaphragmatic, as far as I have learned, but a natural vibration of the vocal folds, resulting from correct support and a relaxed open throat? Correct me if I am wrong.
You are 100 percent correct! I’m an opera singer, and I was thinking the same thing when she said this. The diaphragm is a largely involuntary muscle. You can’t control the actual muscle itself, but you can control the muscles connected to it, which lets us exert a level control over how we breathe. When an opera singer breathes, the ribs expand and the abdominal muscles move out. These muscles (the internal and external intercostals in the ribs, and the abdominal muscles, all of which are connected to the diaphragm) work against each other in an antagonistic relationship to help the singer keep the ribs expanded for as long as possible. It slows the ascent of the diaphragm as the singer exhales so they can maintain a longer breath. Maintaining this even flow of breath decreases pressure on the muscles that control the vocal folds when we sing, which allows the folds to vibrate freely when air flows across them. This is how vibrato happens. It is a natural phenomenon that occurs when the voice is functioning freely. It’s not a forced pulsing of the diaphragm or abdominal muscles, which is what she seemed to be describing.
@@shainasanders7108 Thank you for this thorough explanation. I am an amateur singer, learning opera, and am struggling to not interfere with natural vibrato, and to not collapse the chest. Your description is very helpful. Teachers often use metaphors like "imagine your voice is resting on a pillow of air...". That makes little sense to me. I prefer this technical explanation.
@@ciasa9488 Absolutely! It can definitely feel like you're resting on a pillow of air, but in order to get to that place, the proper muscle coordination needs to be happening. I feel like teachers all have a slightly different concept when it comes to breath too. It can definitely vary depending on the repertoire they typically sing and what school of technique they come from. What I described was more of an Italianate "appoggio" type technique which involves the expansion of the ribs more. This is what works best for me as a spinto that sings mostly Verdi/ Puccini. The German/ Wagnerian technique tends to put more resistance against the abdominal muscles. A lot also depends on your individual body and what works best for you. Richard Miller's "National Schools of Singing" is a super interesting read, and talks a lot about the differences between different techniques that originated in various countries.
You are wrong. No one "vibratos" naturally. It's a lie that bad instructors tell people. If it were natural, all cultures would have vibrato. They do not.
One of the finest sopranos I have ever heard! You really need to hear her sing Exultate Jubilate!
Да, мне тоже очень нравится её исполнение этой арии!
She's amazing. Normally, I don't like the react style videos. This was good. Props to you for being honest and fair. I LOVE when you sing a bit ( in I'm just chilling mode) you're very good. After you say.... I'd be sweating bullets etc.. I would think you're more of a Disney princess, but your laugh was almost ready to cackle. I would love to hear you do a witch laugh. Or Ursula or something. ?@?! I enjoyed this video. I really love the wows and hearts in the background. You give credit where it is due. Not everyone will give a true evaluation. I respect you a lot for the way you... are just you.
Thank u Neal. I appreciate that!
Is anyone else getting Tara's audio from only one side?
Yes, I am.
Jep, left only
Same here
Hmm… I’m only wearing the right earbud and I have audio, so…
Sorry guys! Fixed it for next time 🎉
1m in sight!
Amazingly flexible and agile vocals!
can you react to Cecilia Bartoli " armatae face et anguibus" ? really INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So so beautiful 🥰👏👏👏👏an angel voice ❤
Did I miss it or did you not include a link to the performance? That's borderline criminal. Love Yulia.
Julia is among at least top5 in world for years. And she didn't know her???
Настолько не знала, что даже фамилию ее нормально произнести не смогла. Но, ничтоже сумнящеся, делает разбор ее пения. Так самоуверенно!
btw, Julia was 21 years old when this was recorded in 2011!
Also reacts to her agitata da due venti.... And Cecilia bartoli's agitata da due venti
Amazing. Great pick!

If the corset impeded your breathing then you were wearing it incorrectly.
People don't understand how to properly wear a traditional corset and not enough people know how to tie the back right so they go too tight or too loose.
Its definitely a skill to use one properly.
A nightingale.
Tara, one more classical music you should react to; Un pensiero ni mi co di pace by Handel.
Julia Lehzneva is superb.
Ni mi co de pece...

Tara, Please find this performance of Ebben? Ne andrò lontana (from 'La Wally') - sung by donij van doorn. If you don't know her, she is a Dutch soprano with a voice that thrills me every time I hear her sing. She has toured for several years with Andre Rieu.
I love your reactions, and I believe you will adore her. Let me point out that I am not generally an opera fan, but I know a beautiful voice when I hear it.
She’s wonderful.
Breathe with your forehead, think with your stomach and... sing with your eye!
She is famous Russian baroque singer…Listen how she sings Vivaldi’s Agitata da due venti
its amazing and she has depth in her voice
Can you do more of those one-take covers? Those were fun
Brave entrambe!
gorgoeus voice, like a songird
Love your comments about this phenomenal exibition. Just for your reference you can compare it with Cecilia Bartoli's rendition of the same aria (ua-cam.com/video/9UPArMae5gA/v-deo.html) keeping in mind that the opera Giulio Cesare is about 4 hours long and "Da tempeste" is the eight and last aria she sings (after 4 hours of singing...). Julia is currently considered the new Cecilia Bartoli
Some temper, like Cecilia Bartoli would be helpful. But Julia is great, regards!
Tommy Johansson''s cover of You raise me up 👍👍
Loved this! Thank you. Would love to hear you react to Jonah Nilsson's vocals in Dirty Loops' pieces Next to You and Breakdown. (He does ALL the vocals, including the background choir.)
and her vibrato isn't offensive AT ALL... its such a glorious sound... and sooo focused...
❤❤❤
I'd love to see you react to Laura claycomb's performance of Carro Nome from Rigaletto. Her control is out of this world!
Also, I definitely recommend the Bell aria by Sumi Jo. She's incredible as well.
Actually, yes as a person who has worn corsets because I do historical dance and singing, it is harder to dance and sing, but you do not have to breathe low, many good singers breathe into their back which has been proven to be a better way to breathe, also when you are singing up high and fast you do not need to take big breathes they are small breathes, when you have good technique you can do anything, the last word is desiar , ends with an r not an n, so she did not bring out the r at the end, rest of the song is magnificent as you said
Julia Lezhneva is a protégé of Kiri Te Kanawa. Having met each other in Wales where Julia was studying! She is one of finest sopranos in my mind who specialises in my favourite classical period with Baroque singing and she is a fan of Handel especially of his works when he was in Italy. My favourite piece sang by Julia is the aria from Handels Rinaldo ' Lascia ch'io pianga'. She is my favourite next to Anna Netrebko. A quick clip on Julia ua-cam.com/video/gLNOGFoW3vU/v-deo.html

I recommend a Spanish singer, her name is Diana Navarro. She is a very versatile singer sings different musical styles has a very particular voice that always transmits the song that I recommend is "El perdón" official video clip.
Hi Ms Tara. I’ve been a follower for years now. And you have such amazing critics in your every reaction vidoes and i admire you with it. With that, i would like to suggest that you react with the “Disney plus Philippines A Night of Wonder” performace featuring Zephanie, Stell and Janella singing disney songs. Thank you and more power!!❤
European sopranos are #1
world's
Thank you for introducing me to this singer...hadn't heard of her...and I love her voice. Would love to see your reaction to another of the queens of coloratura, Cecilia Bartoli singing 'Agitata da due venti' ua-cam.com/video/2O9OfxS0r08/v-deo.html
uh - on playback your vocal is only coming on my left channel, not the right.... and Julia is 22 in this one
Another commentary where Tara is on point. Tara you have a lot of skill to know when to stop and make salient comments.
Did you hear a "ludmila zykuna volga" voice?
(the second video youtube currently show by answer to this search phrase: please see she is 80 years old in the white suit)
This is the vocal equivalent of F1 racing.
or in other words - that’s the „Streif“ in ski racing and she is the golden Olympionic 😂
extreme sports but extreme singing
Maybe you could sing for us an opera song ? Maybe one of Verdi’s arias or something 😍
Julia is Russian - and I hope she hasn't been cancelled over the Ukraine invasion!
throughout your whole video your voice is heard in only through the left ear of the stereo, not sure if it's a mic problem, but the video you're reacting to is heard in both ears
This is what is called real singing
It would be amazing if you reacted to two famous Mexican opera and pop singers, the dramatic soprano Regina Orozco trained in Julliard, NY and in the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico and the coloratura soprano Susana Zabaleta trained in the Accademia di belle arti di Firenze, Italy and in The School of Music of the National Institute of Fine Arts in Mexico, in a rehearsal of "Duetto buffo di due gatti" -Duo for two cats (Rossini) ua-cam.com/video/0eZ1GNRCNf0/v-deo.html 💖
You need to do a reaction with “Colter Wall”.
