Why Does February Have 28 Days??

  • We can thank the Romans for our chaotic complex calendar system. February has been a neglected month throughout history. Essentially, it got it's 28 days because the Romans used the lunar cycles to design the months when they should have based their calendar off of the sun. Superstition and politics also played a major part in creating the months. In any case, it's too late to change it now. Please tell us your thoughts on the calendar system in the comments below. And be sure to subscribe for more interesting animations.

    You forgot to mention about how Pope Gregory changed the calendar once more. The year is about 365.2425 days long. So every 100 years we skip the leap year, but every 400 years we keep the leap year. So leap years happen every four years, but we skip the leap year every hundred years except for when that year is divisible by four. This is why the year 1900 did not have a leap day, but the year 2000 did.

      Ofcourse, why would a woke channel give any credit to the Catholic religion or any good Catholic, lest some people look up the church and convert to Christ.

    I wish we just had 13 months of 28 days each (with the 13th month being 29 days actually to make it 365 so 30 days on leap years); making every month exactly 4 weeks long... it would make things so simple and convenient.

    I really enjoy and appreciate your videos! The only small suggestion I would make is to spell 'school' correctly in your name. I know it's a fun thing to spell it with a 'k', but we have so many people who won't read a book these days. They learn from videos, so displaying the correct spelling may be better for them to see. This is just a suggestion and I mean no offense at all. Thanks for the great work!

    • @AfterSkool
      @AfterSkool  7 років тому +1

      haha thank you for the thought! We really appreciate it! Spelling it "Skool" instead of "School" was very well thought out and intentional. When a child is asked to spell "knife", they naturally would answer, "N-I-F-E". Then the child is told they are wrong. If the K is silent, why is it there? There are so many things in the current school system that don't make sense. I always loved to learn, but I didn't care much for school. After Skool is a place where we can share ideas that aren't taught in the classroom. :)

    Why though it makes more sense to have each calendar get 5 years worth of months (60 months) with no leap year that way it is more even and it makes more sense in polar regions

      Better idea each rotation contains 15 months of 25 days plus 9.24 extra time but it eventually equals 231 days even in extra time on that “year “ we call it a manner year because it was made for people to live in a timely manner that works for society until the earth shifts way too much for it to work effectively.

    My question: "When do we not do leap year?"
    They said after 100 years of observing leap year, they skip it for one time. When did that last happen? When can I skip leap year?
    I hope we don't forget and then get off course. Wish humanity a good reminder that can be dependable in 100 years.

    • @AfterSkool
      @AfterSkool  6 років тому

      That's a great question. We skip leap year once every 100 years UNLESS it's divisible by 400. So the year 2000 did have one, but 2100 won't have one.

    This is bs. The ancient calendars were different because the Earth's orbit around the Sun was different. Cosmic interactions have affected our planets orbits..all the ancient calendars and many ancient writings show this to be the case. They also talk of the sun rising in the west and setting in the east which means spinning the other way or pole shift.
