Agreed. My only criticism of the watch is hour hand. A fat arrow or snowflake would suit me.

I adore the look & feel of my Hull, sandwich dial, Panerai touch... Go Spinnaker! If I didn't have 12 divers already, this one could be on my list. 40 mm, great lume, yummy. A little 50 Fathoms about it, too.
The Cahill mid-size I have must be the previous generation because it's running an NH-35 and measures 39mm. I'm starting to like smaller watches and recently got a 39mm Steinhart OVM. Both wear beautifully.
Fantastic watch for the money, I like the quite original styling, plus the 40mm size is great for my 6.5 inch wrist - plus that pop of red keeps things interesting
38mm to 40mm is perfect! I can't stand wristclocks.
I have always thought it is superfluous to put a date ( and day ) window on a dive watch. " Hey Juan, it is Tuesday; we need to surface".

The date is useful because it is a watch first. It also goes under water. Do you need it no. It is useful after you surface and the rest of the week... Cheers
Great vid! I'm considering buying this watch, but I'm curious about the indices and bezel markings. The color varies between shots, from looking white, to light green. I realize that this is because of the lume, but I would like to know what the exact default color is without the lume being charged. Thanks!
In normal lighting it's a bit off white, with a very slight greenish tint.
Not sure about spinnaker's watch quality but i paid the same amount for an Armida 36mm 200m diver with sapphire crystal n a miyota 9015 movement. Isnt it time for microbrand to move to the higher end 9000 series miyota movement for these kinda pricing? The lume on my Armida A11 isnt bad as well, not at the level of Seiko divers but definitely better than the old Promaster Nighthawk. Blue lume, BGW9

I like this very much, but i think its Lug to Lug length is too much for a 39.5mm watch. i got very small wrist 5.75''inch so wont fit well, i was this was 39mm but with may be 44mm or 45mm lug to lug.
Love the dial and with you on the hands .Not a deal breaker but would prefer somrthing other than Mercedes hr hand..I have the same size wrists as you but with even bigger hands and I would choose the 43mm .

I have 7.25” inch wrist. I like a 42 mm for a dive watch and 38-40 mm for a field watch.

This watch is pretty neat. I can understand the Miyota movement as a choice that allows the case to keep slender, which is what they were going for. On that note, I wonder why the crown is kind of long. I don't think I like the branding on the side. Overall, this one and the Fleuss are my top Spinnaker picks.
(Since you are in Japan, did you get a chance to see the Seiko szsb006 limited edition? My sister visited a month ago, but they were all sold out :( )

No I live way out in the countryside so there's not really any watch dealers out here. I'm also not great at keeping tabs on the JDM market, need to work on that.

Great looks.. but I wonder if the lume "dots" could be a tiny bit smaller,
it is probably the same Miyota movement AVI8 used for the flyboy.
with a "stutter" secondhand .. not realy a problem but some will think the movement is broken.
That was my initial impression too, but they sort of grew on me. It also really helps the lume stand out in the dark.

40mm isn't really classically sized, even for a dive watch. I would say 37-38mm was the classic size for a dive watch and 33-34mm was the classic size for dress/casual watches.
But today I think 38mm is the perfect size for everyone (especially if you make the bezel smaller to make the dial larger), but I think 36mm for me is perfect but I can go down to a 33mm size and no larger than a 40mm.
That looks good on you. It looks like you have somewhat flat wide wrists for the circumference (this matters). The 43mm looks fine. I think you could wear the 46mm even, but it definitely gives the 'big watch' look on you without being ridiculous. The 40 would be a little small on me for a sport watch.
Yeah I'll be reviewing the 46mm one next, a little whiplash going from a small dive watch to a large one, but it'll be fun. I was actually surprised how well both of them wear. I think Spinnaker is doing a pretty good job on their case designs.

Decent watch until I seen the Invicta style logo etching on the side of the case. I rather they just made a 40mm Fluse. Also, Merry Christmas and have a great 2020.

Okay dumb question? Why do some enthusiasts wear some watches above the wrist knuckle and others below?
I think it's just personal preference/comfort. I like it above so it stays out of the way.
i have myota 8215 diver watch 40mm, it's great everyday watch, i use bezzel all the time to measure time, there is something that I like more in using diver bezel then digital stopwatch or chrono watch. I'm using nato so watch weight less. That being sad I pay it less than 80$... with spinaker great lume, ceramic bezzel, and better design I see it at 200, 250 at most. Great everday watch, but price is little high.

Yeah, the size, dial layout and hands all kind of give off that vibe a bit.
The lume on the bottom index is applied really unevenly. The edges are all over the place.
Saying there is a perfect size case is like saying there is a perfect size wrist. As you know, the lug to lug makes a big difference, a female or male end link makes a difference, and a flat or round wrist makes a difference. Agree 40/41mm will suit most people. That watch is a cross between a 50 fathoms and a subby. I own a Bradner, and have owned two other Spinnakers, and can't really fault them. Bad choice of movement for the money though, and would stop me buying it
It's very beautiful but has nearly the specs of a casima pontus which you can get for 70$ on AliExpress

Yeah didn't notice that till I shot it in macro. The indices is aligned fine but the lume is painted on crooked.
An odd depth - 150M, - would expect 200M as a Casio Duro (quartz) has that for much less.
Yeah Spinnaker does that with a lot of their watches. I'm not really sure why, they seem to be the only brand I'm aware of that does it.

It's definitely drawing some inspiration from the Submariner, but the bezel, case and unguarded crown are all pretty different from the Submariner.
I have one (Admiral Blue colour). It's beautiful. Lovely strap and dial, and excellent as a formal watch. But I would prefer if watch makers designed more quartz dive watches, as I don't really trust these automatics. I'd take a Casio any day over the Spinnaker Cahill, because I just know that I can 'trust' the time that a Casio is displaying, whereas with an automatic, it may have gained or lost time... My two cents. Get a quartz diver.

6 hours applied indicy looks horrible, hours hand looks like plastic... In general surprisingly bad execution 🧐
