- Yes, the title rhymes. And yes, I know I'm a few days late on this. I filmed this on Wednesday and then debated whether or not I was going to post it. As you can see, I did. I tried not to just repeat everything that has been said already and rather focus on the bigger picture, and where we should go from here. Just wanted to throw my opinion into the burning pile of trash currently filling up this once beloved website.
I'm glad to see that Logan seems to be taking my advice and getting off the grid. No one wants to see him right now, and this wasn't the kind of thing where you can just make one apology video and then move on as if nothing ever happened. Something definitely happened.
The second half of this video is about some weird facebook crap I came across the other day. If you're interested in that but tired of the Pauls (I understand), skip to 5:50.

It’s incredibly impressive to me. What Logan Paul did makes me incredibly furious. I saw firsthand the effect it had on people and it deeply affected me too, as I was very suicidal at that point in time. The fact that Drew was able to talk so eloquently and even sympathetically about the situation is really impressive.

Watching in retrospect this video applies very well to Shane Dawson, especially when Drew was discussing the difference between a mistake and a reveal of character.

I think in Shane's case (coming from someone who has checked in on his channel for years and years), he tried to hide his character by pretending to be nice. He pretends to care, he pretends to be an activist, he pretends to be humble ("I grew up poor" and etc). Hell, simply continuing to be friends with Trisha Paytas reveals his true character. Does anyone ever stop to ask why he never collabs with people of color? They're always white or white-passing. He consistently makes his friends uncomfortable for views. He acted like he cared about make-up so he could make money (granted, it's a pretty cool palette and I do think he has an eye for design). He can't even take proper, constructive criticism because he's "depressed". Being depressed is never an excuse to be an asshole. I would know, I have MDD.
Logan, on the other hand, is (allegedly) a sociopath. He doesn't really care about how he comes across to other people, and he especially doesn't care about his image. It really shows in his content. It's always about making money, being famous, making MORE money, etc. He isn't pretending to be nice because he's afraid people will hate him; he ACTS "nice" because he wants more views and more money.
Both of them are very greedy, money-hungry people.
Shane never made mistakes; his dirty laundry had simply come out to dry, and he rightfully got his ass handed to him for that.
Logan only ever makes "mistakes". First one was making a UA-cam channel.

Obviously got backlash and then “apologized” after all of the backlash calling him a piece of shit (justified). So yeah.. it’s about Logan Paul doing that specific horrible thing, since to no surprise to anyone, he has continued doing horrible things to this day. Hope I could help clear that up to you! Although 2 months later on a 4 year old video.. haha

The fact that Drew at 24 y/o had the perspective to look into the apology tweet, make thoughtful analysis that Logan’s defensive stance projected someone who was overworked and become disconnected with fame, to stop and take a break for his own health, is so applaudable. On a serious note, what you said about us just forgetting the bad things over time really stuck out to me. I think it's not that we're incapable of remembering our painful past; we have memorials and days like 9/11 that are devoted to such things. It's just that we as humans can only take so much pain at a time. If we hang on to the anger and sadness of the past, as well as experience it today, there would be such an impact on our mental health. I think we would all go insane. We have to forget because we have to let go of the pain. We can only take so much. The world is an evil place, and if take all of the evil to heart, we would be completely broken. That's why I think it is a good thing that we aren't immortal. Imagine living through all of the horror and grief of history, and the pain never stopping. It's a blessing that our lives are only so long. Those are just my thoughts! Have a lovely day :)
its one big reason that the whole world's tragedies being on our own doorsteps in the form of widespread news and social media can be super detrimental. a human being just isnt hardwired to be able to take the whole world's problems onto itself, but we live in a world that insists we do that. and in a really terribly futile way, as well. how can one human ever truly hope to be conquering all of the world's tragedies? there's so much pain across so many communities for so many reasons and they are all calling so loudly and desperately for help, and it hurts to want to turn away even for your own wellbeing. and it hurts even more to know that the clamor of hearing all the pain from around the world can almost drown out the calling for help in my own local communities; the areas that *are* feasible to make a personal difference in... i cant imagine the kind of pressure the youth are subliminally taking upon themselves...

2:01 I think this is very true, but there could be an exception of sorts. If you accidentally put an offensive joke in a video, for example. You didn’t know it was offensive, so you didn’t know you made a mistake, until people told you. A good example is Danny’s deleted video where he accidentally made fun of something that helps people on the spectrum, with stuff like how to smile and when to smile, saying “who would need this? A robot?”. It was a harmless mistake, but he hadn’t realized til he was told by thousands of people.

I agree with you about this being character-revealing. It reminds me of another set of UA-camr apologies. Mike and Heather Martin rolled out a whopping half dozen apologies that got increasingly sorry-sounding as they got in increasingly more trouble in the media. In both cases, I think the first apology was the closest to their real point of view: "Sorry not sorry."

The funniest thing about this is that literally instantly after you said "mid roll ad", an ad started on the UA-cam video. Like, it was so seamless that I thought it was a joke and that you were playing a clip of a generic game app ad until I looked up from what I was doing and saw on the screen the little "skip ad" in the lower corner.
