You have no idea how grateful we are that you mentioned The Second Reality Project Reloaded, my favourite gaming duology up to the ranks of Pac-Man World 1 & 2 for home consoles (we don't speak of what was originally going to be Pac-Man Adventures), Super Mario World, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, ActRaiser (yes, I know you aren't a fan of AR2, but I think it's just about as great as the original despite having a different gameplay style than the original), FFX-1 & FFX-2, The Legend of Zelda N64 duology (3DS remasters), Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, Crash Team Racing (it's a trilogy if you count Crash Nitro Kart), Nioh 1 & 2, Red Dead Redemption 1 & 2, etc!
Dude, you do such a great job. You also mention the games near and around that could have just not made the cut, and you dont assume we know all the games or even how to do rooms or mods, and it just makes it very good and informative. It shows you truly do your homework vs just picking lists You like. You are very objective and fair. Hopefully you keep going.
I'm glad you mentioned Brave New World. I think it's the definitive version of FF6. The esper restriction system stops you from turning every character into an Ultima factory, the enemies and bosses are no longer "spam attacks to win" borefests, they fixed the various bugs the game had, and they added a good amount of new items and content. The dialogue can be a bit juvenile at times, but most of it more closely represents the original Japanese dialogue while still keeping some of the Ted Woolsey charm. I absolutely adore the romhack, and encourage anyone even remotely curious about it to give it a try.
What I look forward to the most in ROM hacks is when with their creative freedom, they have custom music (especially when it's original and/or just of very high quality like in The Second Reality Project Reloaded) 1 & 2), their own stories (and no, "rescue the weak damsel" doesn't count, I'm sure they're capable of themselves like their "knights of shining armour"), handcrafted visuals, original (or improved versions of level design we've seen before) level designs, bonus content, etc. This is exactly what happened with the TSRPR duology!
Some one started an Openbor TMNT IV hack called "Shell Shocked", only one level is fully done but there's a bunch of demo levels. Game has real potential
Bro, your videos are great. Seriously. As a marketer myself (although not necessarily a CONTENT marketer...) I'm fairly confident your subs are about to skyrocket. I recommend you begin modeling after some of the heavy hitting UA-camrs and focus on subscriptions, shares, catchy titles, and - most importantly - improving your thumbnails. People are making a living off content creation, and I don't think you're too far off yourself. Keep making great stuff!
Thank you for watching Christopher, to be candid I don't like taking a salesman type approach when it comes to promoting the channel, I'm just not wired that way, I'd rather the focus be on the games. As far as the thumbnails go, I 100% agree, they suck. But I'm doing my best ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
SNES drunk I understand 100%. It always feels weird promoting yourself. And your thumbnails definitely don't suck... in fact I love em because they bring back all the nastalgia for me. but spicing them up a little bit will broaden the appeal and get more people to realize how great the content is. Anyway, best of luck! I look forward to your videos!
It's actually hard to find good videos on youtube for the best rom hacks. Very happy you made this! Also I had no idea you could add FMV and CD quality sound!
I just started learning about SNES hacks and how to use them. I knew about emulators, but i had no idea there were such awesome hacks out there. My childhood prayers of playing sequels ro my favorite jrpgs has come true!!!! It just took 27 years for me to find out. lmao Thanks for the videos! I'm glad I came across it.
The Evil Dead rom hack is an awesome idea. To bad it’s not that well done. I would love to see a tiny Ash sprite chainsawing and using his “boom stick” to battle through hoards of the undead in a top down action/adventure game. The Necronomicon is calling.
I really appreciate the recognition you give to Ken Griffey Junior’s Major League Baseball..I know this is an old video, but I still hear you referencing the game these days and showing it the love it so rightfully deserves. It is such a great fu€king game, man! My brother and I played it SO MUCH when we were young. So many great memories. In my opinion it’s one of the best sports games ever made. I’ve never been big on sports in real life, but there are so many amazing sports titles out there. You mentioned 2 of the best, one being Ken Griffey, and the other, NHL 94. That game is so damn good, and the same thing applies. Me and my bro played the sh!t out of it. I believe it was NHL 94, though I can’t definitively say so because when I look up NHL 94 through 97, it’s hard to determine which was the one we played so much of. I think it was 94, if that’s the one that gets the most notoriety and is known as the best, then yeah, that’s gotta be it. Another great sports title was NFL Blitz when it first dropped. Loved that game. Then of course NBA Jam. So much nostalgia for that one. Brings me back to such good times, when life was so simple, before everyone became psychotic and I began to suffer with crippling depression lol seriously though, I’m not even kidding 😅 life sucks. The world is such a mess, but I feel extremely lucky to have experienced my childhood before the internet and social media were a thing, and peak technology consisted of the newly released SNES and Genesis, and we didn’t even know we were being inconvenienced when we had to wait 5 minutes to fast forward our cassette tapes when we wanted to listen to a particular song on our Walkmans lol we didn’t know any better. I think people have become desensitized a bit, and due to the lack or decline of physical contact and human interaction, people are lacking in empathy or something. Probably a result of the toxic environment and constantly arguing on social media platforms, where people feel empowered and safe behind their anonymity, to express certain views and act more aggressive with people. The trolling and sh!t and constant culture wars, with so many clashing opposing views, and the crazy politics.. it seems to all be having such a negative effect on society. I feel like it has dehumanized a lot of people, and the toxic nature of social media is largely responsible for how sh!t is currently.. at least in the U.S. I feel like social media plays a major role in all of the mass shootings that are taking place so often. It’s so sad. I know it may seem hypocritical to say all of this whilst using social media myself lol but I’ve pretty much stopped using all of the other social media platforms, except UA-cam. UA-cam comment sections can be extremely toxic too, but I usually don’t spend much time in the comments, contrary to the book I’m typing now in the comment section. But yeah, sorry about the lengthy, philosophical speech lol but in a roundabout fashion, I’m just expressing my gratitude for having been born when I was, in 1987, and getting to grow up during the era of the SNES in particular. Other than that perk though, us millennials and all generations which have come after us, have definitely inherited one fu€ked up world from our predecessors. So yeah, thanks mom and dad 😐 Thats my spiel. I don’t know why I just went off on this totally irrelevant tangent, but in summary, the world sucks and humanity is doomed, but at least the SNES still rules

I read your comment yesterday regarding the next funny intro...you said it'd be the longest and funniest so far...you didn't disappoint at all. great video, nice to include the tools used for many hacks.
While I dislike the occasional bizarre immersion-shattering swearing and crudeness in brave new world, I still consider it a vast improvement over the original to the point where I can't play vanilla ff6 anymore. The game was extremely rushed and after playing a version with so much polish it really stands out just how much of ff6 was a broken mess before.
😂😂😂. VI has got the most dramatic fans. It's like insulting the game in any way insults them on a personal level. It's a phenomenal game, but it definitely has flaws.
Got curious to play that, but I’m playing through the A World Reborn hack on the Steam version, and I had the same feeling of not being able to go back to the original. Soundtrack is fully orchestrated, sprites are redone to match concept art... it’s the more high-res mobile graphics... so perfect...
@@xxxYouTunesxxx one of the main stats does literally nothing (can't remember which one, magic evade I think), despite being used in formulas. The battle speed slider only affects you not the actual speed of the battle (so it's a difficulty slider instead), there are loads of glaring game balance issues, you can turn every character into an Ultima casting machine by the last third of the game, which negates the point of even having all the characters, and loads of other stuff. I will say though, that the game being a broken mess only applies if you're a hardcore fan of rpgs. To most people, the game is fine, I don't have a problem with it personally.
I'm glad I could help you somehow. Unfortunately it wasn't enough to bring you to the "soccer side of the force" =P A nice feature of ISSSD hacks is that, since the 90s, the hackers changed to narrator voices from English to a "sudo Spanish" narrator, which is both weird and epic for us Latins. Anyway, a huge effort from the modders that deserves compliment. Just a tinny correction. I wouldn't say that most of the hacks are in Spanish because there is a major portion of them in Portuguese (native language of Portugal, Brazil and others). Not a information that would change the accessibility for English-speakers, but still, a information...
I consider Conker's High Rule Tail to be one of the greatest ROM hacks ever made, if not _the_ greatest. It manages to spice up A Link to the Past's core gameplay without being too different, but also not the same exact thing, and it captures Conker's brand of humour almost perfectly. It's so good that I see it as a true sequel to the N64 game, since we'll likely never get an official one anyway.
Replacing a game's soundtrack with a high quality version sounds interesting. I've always preferred the symphonic versions of the Dragon Quest V & VI soundtracks to the SNES midi ones.
You still need to review the two Enix SNES games by Produce, 7th Saga and Brainlord. I've seen reviews from all other RPGs released in the US but not these two. That is all.
You make great videos SNESDRUNK! I love the SNES Super Star Wars series and it would be awesome to see The Force Awakens done in the same style! Keep up the great work Mate!
I've played it for an hour. They did a good job, but I don't understand why they didn't find a hacker for the team who could replace the Zelda music with more.... Conkery music. Seems like a routine process (it's probably tedious) for digital music hackers to convert the N64 Conker's BFD music into a SNES format.
Are there any DKC 1, 2, or 3 ROMhacks? Worth while or not, I would just like to see if anyone has been able to create anything within the frame work of those games. I could just google this, buuuuut I'm hoping you could possibly point me in the direction of one that's worth something. Love your channel dude!
It's amazing how these hacks have given rise to an interesting Internet community of gamers - they hold Link to the Past Randomizer tournaments or matches almost daily and the communities are great. Without ROM hacking, this great community would never exist :)
m.ua-cam.com/video/Q3SOYneC7mU/v-deo.html Read the description of the video. Afaik, there never was an official 1.52 release of ZSNES. This exploit pretty much proves that there is no point in using this emulator anymore. I mean, if you endanger yourself merely by using it...
That FFVI Brave New World looks cool...I've always felt that game was ridiculously imbalanced (especially near the end) and it's one of the main reasons I've always liked IV a little better. As always, great video!
I can back up that it is amazing. I played the hell out of FF6 as a kid. That hack basically makes it feel like the game it should have been. It is that good. Well except for the script rewrite. Like he said, it is pretty grating. I got through it ok because I have seen the real story enough that anything was a nice change of pace, but most people are put off by it. But man, the game plays so, so well. It is fairly difficult though, but its pretty much on par with the older FF game difficulties (though relying MUCH less on RNG than the NES ones did). If you figure out bosses and know how to optimize your party you won't die much. Unless you do the optional stuff. They held no punches there.
Brave New World is great; a buddy of mine is one of the two guys who made it. It's honestly my definitive version of the game at this point. That said, be prepared for a significantly higher challenge. I'd also recommend holding out; I think they're close to a 2.0 patch at this point. I do kinda agree that the dialogue changes feel unnecessary, though.
Which one of the guys? I forget their names but i did frequent the forums a while ago. Last patch i saw was the atb wait one where he had to fix some of the battle scripts because they were based on time instead of turns.
Super Mario Kart R needs to be finished off. There are simple things that just weren't finished off. Replace Toad's name with Kirby and fix the Kirby sprites that are bugged on the podium. The levels could also be cleaned up, especially for things such as unreachable coins. (The original creator admits he wasn't much of a level designer.) There is now a fantastic Super Mario Kart editor that didn't exist when that romhack was created. I think that version could be as good as people claim with a proper update.
If you have not heard of it SnesDrunk I suggest Super Mario Bros X and X2. These are the original Mario Makers, before Nintendo put a great deal of effort on shutting down the first iteration, only to have fans revive it with X2. This is a fan mario maker before mario maker existed. People have been making games for it for years. The games range from good to bad, extremely difficult to just completely different designs of mario 1 - to mario world. There are things like Mario 3 remakes that imply 2 player coop. I'll admit most of the games made by people are iffy, but there are some solid fan made games here (Imo some on par with mario world) which brings coop to many of them, and of course it is it's own mario creation kit.
That FF6 hack doesn't really seem very different aside from the swapped sprites with FF4. The story dialogue seemed all the same, so I'm not sure what is changed of significance.
Can you recommend more rpgs and jrpg rom hacks? I'm very interested in Zelda hacks. It'd be nice if you'd made a special video only about Zelda hacks and reviewing it!
I'm not super big on Mario Kart R as far as SMK hacks go because its tracks are mostly riffs on the old tracks from SMK rather than new creations. Romhacking dot net has a large collection of SMK hacks though, many of which are good. I personally like Pro Edition, but if you're not into the challenge, I've played and enjoyed the Alternate Tracks, Universe, and 20XX hacks. The 21 (!!) different SMK Limited hacks look good too, but I haven't tried them yet. The best gag hack is definitely Super SpongeBob Kart.
There has been a new editor for years now lol. www.zeldix.net/t1565-zscream-magic As for ALttP hacks, I suggest you check this out: www.zeldix.net/f40-hacks-database
Sad thing is that, currently, The Second Reality Project Reloaded can't be played on original hardware due to bugs with the music... a damn shame considering how amazing the game is.
I actually played the Link to the Past Rom-Hack starring Conker, and the crossover one with Evil Dead and they were awesome and the dialogue made me laugh.
3:37 "Also, just to point out, for each of these sports games, no changes were made to the actual game-play. So you're just playing the exact same game with current teams & rosters." ...This isn't entirely accurate. For example, with the NHL94, some hacks might also contain changes for (1) continuous-OT (2) weight-bug fix & (3) hot-cold fix. But there are a lot of other possible changes than just "teams & rosters", like graphics & sound (goal horn, etc). But each hack is different, so it's best to read the patch notes. See github.com/Europia79/NHL94 where I've documented a master-list. If you install Git or git-bash-for-windows, then you download all the hacks with one command: *_git clone_* (with the URL + the .git extension).
I actually like it. Certain characters get more personality and it IS funny. It's not one of those things where people are just saying "fuck" for no reason.
The brave new world hack of FF6 is really good. I'd go as far as to say that it's the definitive version of the game. The difficulty is increased to acceptable levels and a lot of battles will require more strategy. The characters were changed a lot so that they all feel much different from one other and they all bring unique strengths (magic, physical, heals) to fights. Additionally you won't feel like any characters are just outright worse or better than any others.

Super Mario Maker must have been validating to the folks who were so committed to these hacks over the years.
Oh, cool BNW got a nod. Thank you kindly, Mr. Drunk.
Thank you for watching
It was nice seeing BNW pop up on here :D
I appreciate the KGB2016 spotlight. Much thanks!
That intro made me subscribe

Replacing a game's soundtrack with a high quality version sounds interesting. I've always preferred the symphonic versions of the Dragon Quest V & VI soundtracks to the SNES midi ones.
im glad you went with my suggestion. i love it!
You still need to review the two Enix SNES games by Produce, 7th Saga and Brainlord. I've seen reviews from all other RPGs released in the US but not these two. That is all.
Love your channel im sooooooo glad UA-cam recommended you on my timeline
Those FF hacks look really nice. That Conker/Zelda hack too. Great video!
Ah dude, that Conkers thing looks awesome! Thanks
Snes9x has MSU-1 support, they just haven't put out an official release yet, still waiting on LuigiBlood to finish up his BS-X work.
FF6 eternal crystals was such a good rom hack. if you like ff4 and ff6, you will love it.
You make great videos SNESDRUNK! I love the SNES Super Star Wars series and it would be awesome to see The Force Awakens done in the same style! Keep up the great work Mate!
Knowing roster updates exist for Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball makes my heart happy. 😳
The Conker game looks fun
I've played it for an hour. They did a good job, but I don't understand why they didn't find a hacker for the team who could replace the Zelda music with more.... Conkery music. Seems like a routine process (it's probably tedious) for digital music hackers to convert the N64 Conker's BFD music into a SNES format.
The MSU-1 audio for Conkey solves that
These are so cool. Watched both videos. Thanks for the info on how to download them!
Zak Kerr there is...
Kremlings Revenge Remodel
Check this out:

Thanks for all of the cool rom hack suggestions, definitely gonna try a few of those out
It's actually called Conker's Bad Fur Day, not Conker's Bad Day... but carry on 😅
I subscribed because I always laugh when I see your intro
Hope you do another of these, a 3rd would be awesome!
Great video as usual, thanks drunk!
Thank you for watching
The Legend of Romhacks: A Link in the Description
@4:36 I think that’s Mallow from Super Mario RPG, not Kirby
Alejandro Francetich Nah, its deff Kirby. Mallow has that pink “hair” lookin thing on his head, that sprite there doesnt.
Leo Velli ah, you are right
That was a very satisfying intro
Ill be checking out the sports ROM hacks for sure. SD2SNES is a great little device i love it long time. Lol.
It's amazing how these hacks have given rise to an interesting Internet community of gamers - they hold Link to the Past Randomizer tournaments or matches almost daily and the communities are great. Without ROM hacking, this great community would never exist :)
Awesome video dude!
4:25
Why zsnes instead of snes9x?
The ROM is outdated, so is the modded coding was kept with znes in mind. snes9x came out years later
Honestly I always loved the look of zsnes
m.ua-cam.com/video/Q3SOYneC7mU/v-deo.html
Read the description of the video.
Afaik, there never was an official 1.52 release of ZSNES.
This exploit pretty much proves that there is no point in using this emulator anymore.
I mean, if you endanger yourself merely by using it...
And now for Super Mario World 1 we got Super Mario Maker 2.
And SNES mini for the Og Final Fantasy VI.
Do you think it's possible to hack Baseball Simulator 1.000 on SNES?
Holy shiiiit, nice intro as always *mind explodes*
The Background music used in the SMW rom hack at 4:26 ist the same as in the next game mario kart at 4:31. Half Life 3 confirmed.
Oooh, man! LOL That was the most funny intro ever. HAHAHAHAH
Eternal Crystals: calls Terra "Tina," makes her blonde.
Me: Nope.
Yeah, that bothered me the most. I guess Edgar being a dragoon is a distant 2nd. HA! (Edgar and Terra banter in the original)
Wow! That SNES Conker game based on ALTTP sounds really fun!
There's also a shit ton of other Earthbound rom hacks out there. Toby Fox also made another one called Arn's Winter Quest: Gway Edition.
That FFVI Brave New World looks cool...I've always felt that game was ridiculously imbalanced (especially near the end) and it's one of the main reasons I've always liked IV a little better. As always, great video!
I agree,i wanted to check the enternal crystal, it looks cool( but what's wrong with edhar become kain XD)
Randy Miller III, in what ways was the original FFVI imbalanced? Explain.
should start dragging out te snes drunk intro to a min long
Super Mario Kart R needs to be finished off.
Glorious intro!
what is the song that plays at 0:08 it sounds amazing also thanks por the rom hacks videos they are awesome
today is my birthday and all I wanted was to hear my bro Snesdrunk. and hear he is. thanks snesdrunk
Cheers
Happy Birthday!
Good list and I appreciate you leaving links to the sites for rom downloads, saves some time.
The C&D was faked by the original creator. Just so you're aware.
SMBX is great though.
i Love you Intros!
That snes drunk intro gave me a DMT flashback...
That FF6 hack doesn't really seem very different aside from the swapped sprites with FF4. The story dialogue seemed all the same, so I'm not sure what is changed of significance.
Didn't he say there were new storylines? :o
Can you recommend more rpgs and jrpg rom hacks? I'm very interested in Zelda hacks. It'd be nice if you'd made a special video only about Zelda hacks and reviewing it!
is Relm still save-corruptingly broken af in BNW?
Thanks for info on all the rom hacks SnesDrunk I'm having lots fun playing them on my super everdrive keep up the good work :) Ps you need more subs
An improved version of ff6 wow I have to see that is my fa game of all times.
Thanks! Really enjoyed this
is there any pilot wings hacks?
3:32 "Spanish" Well...That's accurate.
Feromount um dia ainda vejo alguém q não fala mas sabe diferenciar português de espanhol. não foi dessa vez, mas um dia eu vejo.
hi snesdrunk. a few questions: are there any new zeldahacks? is hyrulemagic the olny editor?thx
There has been a new editor for years now lol.

As for ALttP hacks, I suggest you check this out:

Sad thing is that, currently, The Second Reality Project Reloaded can't be played on original hardware due to bugs with the music... a damn shame considering how amazing the game is.
Hey thanks for the twins shout out. :)
i was wondering what the difference was between a brave new world and the eternal crystals, ty
I actually played the Link to the Past Rom-Hack starring Conker, and the crossover one with Evil Dead and they were awesome and the dialogue made me laugh.
3:37 "Also, just to point out, for each of these sports games, no changes were made to the actual game-play. So you're just playing the exact same game with current teams & rosters."
...This isn't entirely accurate.
Crude and unfunny added dialouge in FF6? No thaaanks
The "Final Fantasy vi Relocation hack" (based on reviews) seems to be better in this regard.
I actually like it. Certain characters get more personality and it IS funny. It's not one of those things where people are just saying "fuck" for no reason.
as far as FFVI goes, you should check out Return of the Dark Sorcerer
The brave new world hack of FF6 is really good. I'd go as far as to say that it's the definitive version of the game. The difficulty is increased to acceptable levels and a lot of battles will require more strategy. The characters were changed a lot so that they all feel much different from one other and they all bring unique strengths (magic, physical, heals) to fights. Additionally you won't feel like any characters are just outright worse or better than any others.
great vid! well rounded!
slams the final fantasy hack for being crude, but loves the conker game.
The FF hack reads like it was written by a 13 year old. The Conker hack is somewhat clever.
I never got that Bruce Campbell vs Gannon hack to work.
